Hi, I have installed Veeam B&R v11 on a windows machine running a 5 Hyper-V vm. I have registered my Hyper-V using backup infrastructure > Add server. It now shows up in backup infrastructure > managed servers > microsoft Hyper-V > Standalone servers. I have created a backup repository on a NAS on the local network. But when I want to create a backup job (home > backup job > Virtual Machine), I have no VM listed. Any advices on what I’m missing to be able to backup my VM?  

Hi,I would like to offload Archives to AWS Glacier. I added a AWS Glacier Repository to an sobr as archive exent. Once offloading starts I get the following error messages.I thing that the gateway server is not able to connect by ssh to the ec2 proxy appliance? Are these Appliances deployed in advance, or just temporary during archive offloading job? It is a new deploy, we didnt use these feature. 01:42:55    Failed to provision a proxy appliance: Unable to connect by SSH to appliance.     04:3201:47:28    Queued for processing at 28.04.2021 01:47:28     01:47:33    Task failed. I am using Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 4.My backups are sent to Amazon S3 buckets after 30 days.I am trying to do a Instant VM recovery from a Restore Point located in the S3 bucket.I ran the restore and the Log file is telling me.Restore session Status: In progress.Log (Last 2 lines)<machine name> has been recovered successfullyWaiting for user to start migrationI don’t know where to go from here. I am having a hard time finding any documentation for this.Using vSphere Client version 6.7.0.46000Any help would be appreciated. 

Can any one speak to Pure FlashArray//C Dedupe/Compression in combination with Veeam space efficiencies? Can Pure still get 3:1 after Veeam does its thing? I’m getting mixed messages on this. Thanks in advance!

Hello, we are using file-to-tape jobs to archive old files like pst files. After running the file-to-tape job we delete the files on the file-system.In the Veeam B&R console you can find the archived files in the “files” section and you can search the file name. This information is stored in the tape catalog data and you can find this by double clicking on the tapes, too. So this information is saved in the database, but how can i migrate or export/import this information to another veeam server? I am currently migrating some smaller Veeam server together to one single management server and the smaller server will be used as backup proxy. (without db) So on a new Veeam server i will get this information only by doing a inventory and catalog of all the old tapes.Is there another solution for this ?  

Hello, I have been asked by one of Veeam partners about my take if it comes to Veeam support for VMware Horizon VDI platform, despite the choice of taking the POC option I also chose to take your input on this. Considering that VMware Horizon VDI is based on ESXi, do we still consider the desktops(Instances) or sockets as unit of licensing?  If so, is there any operational implication or/and limitation if it comes to operations and protection of the VMware Horizon components?  Just to mention I was able to get this old article (posted 2011) but with many Veeam versions since then I decided not to fully reference ithttps://forums.veeam.com/vmware-vsphere-f24/vmware-view-best-practices-backing-up-vdi-server-clients-t6517.html

Has anyone set up a Scale-out Backup Repository using an Azure DataBox?  Having certificate issues for all the jobs copying (from the Repository)to the DataBox.  

Hello,I need recommendations and perhaps solution on this issue. I have got to archive on-premise data to Microsoft azure.When I got to the point where I had to scale out repositories, I keep getting an error that the target repository is being used for jobs.I tried creating another repository but it got to a point the wizard asked if I will be Ref file type to format and had to stop because I don't know if that will format the entire volume that the backup jobs resides.Kindly help on what to do.Thanks.

Hello, We have Veeam Backup & Replication v10. We do backups of our file servers VM’s (in ESXi 6.7) with guest file system indexing option enabled. Also we have tape backup jobs of these servers.We need to restore an individual file from a tape media set, is there a way to restore that file directly from the tapes? or I need always restore all the vbk file to a disk before to do a file restore from tape? Thanks in advance, Omar De Souza.

What does “Warning: some restore points failed to process” mean? I got this warning on a cloud copyjob and I can’t really find out what specifically it means or why it happened? Does this mean the copyjob failed or in a disaster recovery scenario that I’d have missing data that I couldn’t restore to from the cloud because it didn’t copy over? I ran a new sync and it was successful, but I am wondering what this warning means and how can I present it in the future?

Veeam Backup & Recovery 9.5 (VMWare)When setting up my Backup Jobs. “I Enable backup file encryption.” If I am correct this would mean that the file is “Encrypted at Rest” on the backup disk.After 30 days I move this to a Amazon S3 Bucket. I have set up the Capacity Tier to “Encrypt data uploaded to object storage”. Is the Backup “Encrypted at Rest” in the S3 Bucket or do I need to turn on disk Encryption in Amazon?Is there some documentation that explains the above scenario?

How can I perform backup verifcation or sure backup in our NSX-T environment? We need to perform restore test regulary. So what kind of options do we have?Heartbeat test would be ok. 

Hi, Has any one had the below error on the new CDP Proxy function on B&R v11?Source Proxy Replicator error: encryption; Cannot decrypt message, possible due mismatching key.I can see that the disk are replicating, but now and then it shows the error? Note this is a new CDP job 

If the answer is obvious and I don’t see it: sorry for my question!In a large customer setup, SureBackup is managed by script (cusomized: https://www.virtualtothecore.com/can-test-1000-vms-veeam-surebackup/). So VMs are dynamically added by a Application Group. For a long time, we put just one VM into the group. SureBackup jobs failed when this VM failed - most often because of timeout. Now we increased to two VMs per run. Now I see job is skipping second VM when first VM fails. My question: Is this a designed behavior with Application Groups? Did not find the answer in the helpcenter.

Hello All...We are moving from one Veeam Cloud Connect Partner to another.  We have already finished the migration.  We have disabled all of the Backup Copy jobs to the old partner and are ready to sever our relationship.  However, we want to make sure that the VCC Partner does not have access to the remote repos.  We do not suspect they will do anything but we just want to cover our bases.  I know when a backup copy job is created there is a setting to “Allow Veeam Cloud connect partner to manage this repo”.  Is it a simple matter of unchecking that box to prevent access?  Or should we completely delete the VCC partner from the service provider window?  We would like to avoid deleting them for a week or so since we still do not have 7 days of retention with the new provide so we want to option to get to that data if needed over the next week or so.  So will unchecking allowing them to have access achieve what we want?ThanksDave

Hi, greeting from newbie last month, our neighboring company was attacked by ransomware,it become worst because their datastore is encrypted too, they still use vmware 5.5 from investigation, they analyze that one server made network drives directly to the datastore,that's why ransomware is able to attack and encrypted the datastore. i want to know if it is possible to create a network drive directly? if attack the datastore is possible, I think veeam replicated server will be useless.

Will The New Version Of “V11 Backup And Replication Community Edition” Be Released This Week?

Does anyone know if at all possible whether SRM placeholder of remote VCenters can be removed from discovery or monitoring. We have a VCentre 7.1s in a primary/backup configuration using SRM. Veeam discovers these placeholder (same name as the primary VM) and alerts when changes occur to them. I want to remove them completely from SCOM.

Hi guys One of our customer migrated all his workloads to Azure. For backup compliance he defined all workloads have to be backed up daily to AWS S3 immutable object store.So we have Veeam Backup for Azure for IaaS and NAS Backup for Azure File Share.Now my struggle is real. When I backup the file share with NAS Backup I’m not able to write the data to AWS on daily base, only “Keep previous file version” works. I used a scale-out backup repository with capacity tier the s3 immutable store and the setting “Copy backups to object store as soon as they are created” and “Move backups to object storage as they age out the operational restore window” but nothing happened.Also the Azure IaaS Backup Copy job does not work as expected. As backup repository I need to specify a scale-out repo because directly to object store is not possible. With same scale-out repo as above the local stored elements will not be deleted. Does anyone have any experience and/or suggestions?Kind regardsDaniel
