i have on going PoC for Veeam VBR. customer want to take a Physical Machine back up(Dell Server) and want to restore it in another physical server(HPE server). is it possible or not. 

I’ve created 5 Jobs in Veeam Community edition, V11.I can only seem to get 2 jobs running at the same time, with all other jobs reporting:"Waiting for backup infrastructure resources availability" SetupWe have 3x Physical servers/Hyper-V hosts, across 2 Physical Sites linked via a IP-Sec Site to Site VPN over NBN 100/40 Connections.ALL Backup/replication data between the servers below travels on secondary network cards on a secondary network to the main/users network.Note: Had been using Hyper-V’s built in replication until now deciding to switch to Veeam.Hyper-V-01 (Site-A) Hyper-V-02 (Site-A) Hyper-V-03 (Site-B)Veeam Host:Veeam is running on a VM: Srv-Utility-01 running on Hyper-V-01We have one Backup NAS, Synology attached to Srv-Utility-01 via iSCSI mounted as D:Veeam Jobs:3x Hyper-V ReplicationsReplicating 4x VM’s over the WAN to off-site Hyper-V server (Hyper-V-01 to Hyper-V-03) Replicating 1x VM’s over the WAN to off-site Hyper-V server (Hyper-V-02 to Hyper-V-01) Replicating 1x

While backing up SQL workloads, the job returned an error saying “Unable to truncate Microsoft SQL Server transaction logs. Details: Failed to process 'TruncateSQLLog' command. Failed to truncate SQL server transaction logs for instances:  . See guest helper log. .” what could be the reason for this?In the sql settings, I enabled “backups logs periodically” and specified retention period. does these settings have something to do with the error?

I performed a backup with exchange workload, but the job returned with a “nothing to process” error.what could be the reason for this? 

Hello folks, I got a question for you.I inherited an ESXi-based structure with vCenter and backupped via Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5.4.2866.Without deleting the job and redoing a new one (the size of the vm is very consistent), is there a way to understand if when the job was created choosing vcenter and not directly VMs?My fear is that if the job was created by choosing the vcenter, if it goes down I can't restore the structure.And I have no experience about it.

Hey guys, I have another query.If I create a backup let’s say full backup on Monday, retention policy is 7 days and synthetic backup on saturday. On saturday once the full backup is created, will the previous backups merge to this full backup and get deleted once retention policy is expired ?Another question: consider the 1st question scenario in the backup settings, now if a customer deletes a backup on tuesday and reports this 20 days later, can he use the synthetic backups to recover the data?

Hi  What kind of permission is needed to install K10 and for the daily admin operation in K10 ? Is a cluster-admin role in K8S mandatory ? If not, what permissions are required ? Thanks Chris

Hey community, I want to use VBR 11a and VeeamPluginforSAPHANA to backup my SAP HANA database.Howerver, the test result is not ideal, Processing rate is only 1M/s.In my environment, the bandwidth between the VBR server and the HANA server is 10Gbps, and I have tested it with iperf3, everything is OK. and when I use VBR to backup VMs and NAS, everything is OK too. I also tried to set up different repositories using SapBackintConfigTool, but it doesn't work.What could be the reason? tks. 

If the source VMs have virus/infected, technically Veeam can backup that but can Veeam knows that the source is infected with virus/ransomware?

Following on from the excellent advice on what kind of storage server (and direct attached storage within) to use for a hardened Linux repository, may I push my luck to ask for some more advise or where to go next. Presuming I can get my hands on a suitable storage server and storage (as recommended) could anyone shed some light on how we’d need to set this up so that Veeam is able to back up the data on our Infortrend SAN. Here’s some further details of our config.We have a Windows server in our (remote) data centre that is running Veeam B&R v11. It is currently just making some physical backups of critical Windows and Linux hosts. Hi, We have a lot of backup copy jobs (but far from all) that fails with the error “Failed to dispatch repository file session resource requst. Requested amount of file session (193) is greater than the maximum amount available (192).According to HPE Veeam should know that this StoreOnce has a internal limit of 192 datastreams and should not try to open number 193.  Anyone with a idea of how to fix this?

We have provisioned VBR in production, tecnically with compute and storage. Can we replicate the recovery points from prod VBR to VBR dr? In dr, we will provion as well VBR dr resources.  upon checking with veeam, they can replicate in the dr but the source is the vcenter prod as well, meaning 1vbr is enough as long as they vcenter in dr. Hi there. Need help with backup Windows machine to Synology via SMB. I create user with password on my Synology, create a shared folder on my Synology.Than i create New backup job in Veeam Agent. After i complete all fields (i passed a check pair user/password), i receive error (on screenshot). I tried connect shared folder on Syno to Windows machine - it's ok. One more thing, when i push the "Apply" button in New backup job, in the shared folder created file and delete after half second. What i do wrong?I translate the error: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007B)" 

If I were to create a new copyjob to replace an old one, and I want it to only move over the very latest restore point and none of the previous restore points that are currently in the repository; can this be accomplished by taking a new active full on the source jobs and then running a sync now on the new copyjob and telling it copy over the latest? If not, can this only be accomplished by wiping out all current local and cloud and starting from scratch?

Hey community, can we perform replication job of agent based backups?

We have VMware private cloud, consists of different VMs for different customers, technically is has 1 center. We have a separate infra of backup, with them as a backup solution, different Veeam instances as well for different customers,Now we have ongoing project for backup and provisioned veeam instance1  we will connect to the vcenter of our vmware private cloud and assuming it will be successful, moving forward for veeam instance2 3,4, and so on and we will use as well the existing vcenter for different instances. Is there any problem or error since Veeam instance1 already connected to the existing center? Then definitely we will connect other Veeam instances2, 3,4… Thanks

I run Veeam B&R 11 on a Windows server but at the moment it is just making some physical backups of a number of critical Windows hosts and a few EXT4 volumes on Linux hosts.The majority of our data (give or take 125TB) is hosted on a SAN (mirrored) exposed as EXT4 volumes via iSCSI on a Linux server.As an extra level of backup, I want to start backing up this data on a regular basis with Veeam B&R 11 onto a new suitable storage server with sufficient Direct-Attached Storage or some kind of NAS unit, preferably with this storage configured as a hardened Linux repository in Veeam.This storage server would be in a different location to the SAN, but connected over a 10GBE link.Has anyone got some advice on what would be a good hardware solution for this Linux-based hardened repo?Should I be looking at one of the larger Synology NAS units with sufficient capacity (not sure if this can be used with Veeam as a Linux repo or would a dedicated server full of storage be a better option.

Hi everyone, i’ve been having this problem for a while now…Email notifications after backup completion are not being sent anymore to the specified email address, but when i test the credentials the email arrives successfully to my email account. I’m using the Veeam Agent 5.0 on a windows server 2012 r2. No veeam B&R is implied, just the agent making backups to a local disk.Additional informations:i recently changed the email server for the email account, before changing it everything was fine and the backup emails arrived, so at a first glance it seemed a problem with the email server; but i made a clean installation of veeam agent 5.0 on another server, using the same credentials, and the emails for the backup job are arriving regularly; so this excludes the fact that it may be a problem of the new email server(and also the fact that the email tests arrive without any problem).So i thought this may be a problem related to some veeam files regarding the old installation, so here’s

Hello Techies,We use Veeam Backup as our backup solution, and I am planning to configure Veeam as follows to make sure that our data are safe during a primary site unrecoverable disaster.Regularly backup configuration and keep it external storage source ( One Drive, external HDD ..etc )  At the end of each backup, I will configure a copy job to secondary storage  The secondary storage will be mapped from the DR site using the site-to-site link.So, after each job, a copy will be placed into secondary storage and the secondary store will be on the DR site. In the event of primary site unrecoverable disaster, I will perform as follows 1- Install fresh Veeam software 2- Restore configuration3- Map secondary storage backup LUN / Volume 4- Restore from secondary storage Am I missing something? any suggestion? 

While  creating backups in a Hyper-V environment, you need several permissions to be able to properly snapshot and process a VM. What are the  permissions are not necessary for on-host backups, if used?Full Access permission on the targetfolder and share access given. 

Hi guys One of our customer hosts VBO on a Azure VM with managed disk as backup repository. Not the best practice and most cost efficient, but customer started with VBO v2 :)To the problem: Customer tries to restore a sharepoint site of 50GB with many files. The restore performance is quite bad around 3MB/s with bottleneck shown as source.Are we hitting against Microsoft limitation? CPU and disk on VBO VM is low during the hole restore time. Also tried with SSD as managed disk without any effect. SincerelyDaniel
