 Ever had your backups fail? I sure have! But it’s all part of the fun & games of learning exactly how these systems work.Recently I spun up another instance of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure, and as part of my security mindset, I configured some elements of hardening to my infrastructure. Well, I missed a setting that I’m going to share with you today. Worker Job Completed with Error So, I had Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure working, my daily snapshot job was also running fine, but it was the daily backup that wasn’t working. Some of the key terms I could pick out from the logs were ‘Worker: <Resource Name> (IP Address:Port): job completed with error’, ‘Error: This request is not authorised to perform this operation’, ‘Status 403’, and ‘ErrorCode AuthorizationFailure’ were the error messages I was being greeted with. Dissecting the Errors The key hint here was the job task ‘Backing up <VM Name> to Backup Repository. Followed by the worker not being authorised.Within

Last week I had to troubleshoot a backup job that was using a brand new proxy and repository server. No other job was using these components. Nonetheless just 4 VMs were processed at the same time. All other VMs showed status “Pending”. As additional information, “Resource not ready: Active snapshots limit reached for datastore” was shown too in active job log.After a short investigation we found out, all VMs were located on just one VMFS datastore. Fortunately there is a rather simple solution for this limitation. Hello,I’ve just installed Veeam B&R and VeeamOne (both version 13) on one physical Windows Server 2025.Was it mistake? Because I cannot configure and start Veeam Intelligent Diagnostics.The reason (not confirmed yet) is Veeam Analytics service.Description here: Veeam Intelligent Diagnostics - Veeam ONE User GuideI need two instances of this service, in Server mode for VeeamOne and in Client mode for B&R.Or VID can work without Veeam Analytics service, because this is within ONE physical server?I hope, someone has solved this already...Best regards,Tom

Hello,When using VDC Calcultor for Azure VM workloads, for a snapshot size of ~64.4 TB there is an associated snapshot cost (~$3,297) with a Bronze policy (1 per day for 7 days), I am missing clarity on how this cost is applied over time.More specifically, could you please clarify:1. Is this snapshot cost:- calculated per month,- per year,- or is it a cumulative cost based on retention (number of snapshots × retention duration)?2. HI..I create user account for myself in Enterprise Managerbut when i logon using my account why i got error ‘Cannot find backed up machines where the user belongs to Local Administrators group’ 

I first of all installed Veeam v12.3 on an external drive then i uninstalled it. I then tried to install it on the hard drive of my PC, but this error popped up. I did some research and discovered it could be because of the last installation residues that could still be running in my PC. So i went on checking all the possible places where these residues could be (task anager, register,...) but still after trying to install it the same error pops up. So what can be the problem with this installation?

V13 - The environment described in this architecture is one main datacenter containing 5 PB of NAS data. The NAS environment contains 50 shares and 2 billion files. The Veeam components are hosted on the Veeam Software Appliance and Veeam Infrastructure Appliance. All backups will be targeted to a local Veeam Hardened Repository Appliance group in a Scale-out Repository (SOBR) and copied to the Veeam Data Cloud (VDC) Vault. The Veeam Infrastructure Appliance that host the  proxies are installed on physical servers. The general-purpose proxies and cache repositories will be collocated on the same server hardware.

Hi Community, During Veeam Agent backup, you may see: Collecting recovery media files. Details: Windows recovery image file not found This means Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is missing or disabled. Solution: Work for me this morning.Run on target VM. reagentc /setreimage /path C:\Windows\System32\Recovery; reagentc /enable!--scriptorendfragment-->!--scriptorstartfragment--> Note: If WinRE files or the recovery partition are missing, you can ignore this warning backup is valid.(See diagram below for quick steps.)   

I try to connecting the SMB server to as VBO repository and always access denied, even i can write to the SMB folder using windows explorer.In this article KB2971: How to add SMB repository to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 i can see we must computer name authentication on the share permission,In my case the SMB server and VBO server is not joined to the domain, both of machines is standalone.Anyone here know how we can use the SMB fo repository?

I have installed Veeam Software Appliance on fresh hardware. My intent is to recreate my backup infrastructure around it and then deprecate my current Windows server that handles the jobs. I am not finding anywhere to download a license key for version 13. It does not show in my account portal as an option for generating a key.

Hello guys, I’m using the Calculator on a daily basis, and am pretty sure the calculation is wrong (or maybe I’m?? :D) when you consider Immutable GFS Backups to Object or local storage.If you backup Immutable the Calculator will ask for a immutability Period, this in fact does not matter when using GFS as always one Full Backup will be kept for the configured GFS Retention.Or at least as far as I’m aware.Heres my test:Lets say we have 16TB of source Data, this is the immutability with 14 days and gfs.​​​​​​ As far as I understood it, 16TB is round about the source capacity, of course we will shrink it a bit thanks to compression.Lets say a full backup will then be 10TB which seems surreal already. And lets now turn gfs off in the calculator.Now we only have 14 Dailies immutable but we are missing another 11 Full Backups as stated, GFS will always take full backups. Am i doing something wrong? Is the calculator not able to predict this scenario? 

It seems the FILE EXCLUSION tab is missing in Veeam Community edition even though the only thing it is supposed to be limited don is the number of workloads. When I go to the job, guest processing and edit, there is no choice to exclude files. What am I missing here? 

ciao, il titolo è un po’ involuto ma non riuscivo a farlo migliore. Volevo condividere una difficoltà che mi trovo ad affrontare, specie adesso che “lavorare con Veeam” comporta interagire con tecnologie e mondi sempre più numerosi e diversi. Solo pochi anni fa c’era VMware e un po’ HyperV, il backup di O365 e poco altro… ora ci sono N nuovi hypervisor, tutte le parti cloud (M365, EntraID eccetera), i plugin enterprise con Oracle SAP etc etc, i DB come Mongo e Postgres e, ultimo ma non meno sconvolgente, il mondo container di Kasten.  In questo scenario, se lavori per aziende di consulenza e dici che sei uno specialista Veeam (e supponiamo che tu lo sia 😊), magari hai la VMCE, oggi i tuoi clienti/capi/colleghi si aspettano che tu sappia muoverti e soprattutto abbia esperienza su TUTTO. Mentre, per esempio, quando ho fatto la VMCE due anni fa i nastri non erano argomento di esame…  Nella realtà per conoscere le tecnologie e avere esperienza bisogna averle provate, il che comporta di av
