Minulý čtvrtek se uskutečnilo osobní setkání české Veeam User Group a já mám velkou radost, že jsme se setkali v tak hojném počtu! Tento rok se již konal jeden online workshop v rámci VUG, kde jsme měli také velice solidní účast, ale je přeci jen trochu těžší dostat lidi fyzicky na akci, než na Zoom call. Jsme tedy o to raději, že počet účastníků překonal naše očekávání a mohli jsme tak šířit všechny novinky a zajímavosti ze světa Veeam, zálohování, obnovy a ochrany dat s poměrně velkou skupinou IT odbnorníků, kteří si na tuto akci vyhradili celé čtvrteční odpoledne,  a potažmo i večer, jelikož neformální část se poměrně protáhla. 😊 A to je jen dobře, protože to znamená, že účastníci a prezentující si toho měli hodně co říct, což je pro nás důkazem toho, že se akce vskutku povedla. Třešničkou na dortu bylo občerstvení, které bylo připravené pro naše hosty po skončení oficiálního programu v podobě kýty a speciálního klášterního piva, které zařídil Petr Bouška - náš český zástupce komun

Scenario: A user submits an urgent ticket - a very important folder has been deleted from the file server.IT will ask ‘when is the last time you saw that folder?’ and they usually don’t know.So, I fire up Veeam Backup and Replication. Click Restore > Microsoft Hyper-V > From backup > Guest file restore > Microsoft Windows.I’ll (randomly) pick a backup from 2 days ago. Wait (forever) for the backup to spin up; then navigate to where the folder should be, only to find it’s not there. So I close it and spin up a different backup set. I’ll keep doing this until I eventually find the folder and restore it. This takes forever.Is there a faster way to do this?

For a mechanical device, modern disk drives are very fast, but when compared with the solid state components of the rest of the system they take forever to do anything. An average random I/O requests will take about 8,000,000 CPU cycles worth of time.When talking to a disk drive there are three phases that must be gone through.The disk head must be positioned onto the correct track. Hey everyone,As we prepare for the upcoming update that introduces support for Veeam v13 on Windows, I wanted to ask:What migration strategy are you planning to adopt and why ?Will you simply upgrade your existing Veeam Windows server to v13? Or do you plan to migrate to v13 and then transition to the Veeam Software Appliance?So far, I haven't found any official discussion about the migration process from Windows to Linux. Ideally, I'm looking for a solution that allows me to back up and restore my settings during this migration. Personally, for all new projects, I’m planning to propose the new Linux-based appliance, even though some aspects still require optimization and improvement. In cases where migration is possible, I would tend to recommend switching to the appliance for smaller infrastructures as well — mainly to benefit from the native hardening layer and eliminate Windows licensing costs. Hello Community Members, I am just trying to figure following scenario but unable to put into action.Scenario:-I want to copy a SMB Share/SAN Intergration Full Backup job from last day of previous month i.e 29th of 30th etc. I cannot find an option to handpick a specific restore point from last day of previous month. I want to retain this job with two-year retention on tapes. VBR just offers to copy Full Backups via Copy to Tape but does allow to handpick specific full backups from a list of previous backup jobs/restore points etc. Is this functionality only available via PowerShell?       

Is there a way to search the Veeam database to see if a particular file is in a backup and which backup/s its stored in? I was taught to just go to disk, search the server name and then hunt & peck through backup dates until I find the backup that has that file in it.

We currently use Veeam B&R to backup the share’s to a local repo on the backup box. I then created a second job (agent) to backup the drive B:\backups to the clients VSPC repo. It works but when I attempt a restore of the cloud data its a restore of what looks like a database and not browsable files like a restore of the original B&R job produces. Hopping for a more elegant solution that doesn't require a two restores to get client data into a usable form. thanks and sorry for this being one of those out there kind of questions.

Im trying to install kasten using helm and running to this error:clusterroles.rbac.authorization.k8s.io "kasten-admin" already exists I began by trying to install it in a name space with rescrictive policies and that failed as some pods where set to need it. After than I uninstalled the helm chart, tried again with more permissive policies and got this message. I have tried to remove the namespace, remove all CRDs and cluster roles with kasten or k10 in them. Also, when uninstalling the helm chart. I can see that the kasten-admin cluster role is removed, but this message still appears on installation.

Wir wollen, dass bei den auf der VBR verwalteten Backup-Jobs für die Workstations auch der Veeam Backup Agent automatisch ausgerollt wird.Leider funktioniert diese Art der Remote Installation innerhalb einer Domäne nicht. Die interne Windows-Firewall wurde zu Testzwecken abgeschaltet um diese auszuschließen.Gibt es etwas, was speziell beachtet werden sollte bei Windows 11 Workstations ? Danke Torsten
