I have a question. My current tape server has 4 SAS ports attached to my Quantum LTO-7 library. I can’t fit any more cards into this server, so that’s the max number of drives this one tape server will support.However, my tape library physically has *6* tape drives installed in it. Obviously, at the moment, only 4 are in use, as that’s all my tape server can handle. But I have a 2nd  tape server I can use, and it has 4 unused SAS ports. So what I want to do is, add this 2nd server to my Veeam environment as another tape server, and hook it up to my 2 used tape drives. That way, I should hopefully be able to drive all 6 tape drives at once., and Veeam will see the library as having 6 drives total. There should be no problem with that config, right? Veeam can utilize more than 1 tape server, surely. And since the drives are all in the same library, even if I have media pools that says use up to 2 drives at once,  it wouldn’t matter if one of those tapes was serviced by tape server #1, an

I have asked this before, but I’ll ask again: I need to write a report about tapes that currently in my library that are FULL. This command, unfortunately, is monumentally slow:$TapesToBeEjected = Get-VBRTapeMedium -Library $LibraryName | Where {{$_.IsFull -eq $TRUE}} | Select Name, LastWriteTime, MediaPoolID, IsFull, Location | Sort -Property MediaPoolID, NameSo rather than querying the all the tapes that Veeam has ever used (I have over 1300), I figure it will be faster to just query the library for the tapes *currently* in the slots and drives (that will be about 80). Then I can do the $_.IsFull on just those.But I am not seeing a command that seems to do that. Is there one, that queries the library and returns tapes in slots and drives?Otherwise I would have to loop though Get-VBRTapeMedium -Library $LibraryName , select only $_.Location = Slot or Drive, and then re-select for $_.IsFull.And I don't think that would be materially faster.Is there a better way to get the info I need?

One of the most confusing aspects of Kasten are blueprints. Blueprints are essential at preparing applications to be ready for backup. Backing up workloads that are not in the proper state for backup can lead to restores of corrupted applications. Databases in particular can be pesky in this regard. Application Aware is well known in the windows world with VSS and by now most people using Veeam will know about running pre and post scripts as well. The same logic applies to Kubernetes workloads. Those applications don’t just magically stop what they are doing when they here the backup call. Kannister Blueprints solve this problem and Kasten makes it even easier to leverage them. Now this is a more complicated topic, at least for me it is, so I will probably do more than just one episode on Blueprints but for now this is a start.

hi, im using VBR 12.3 deploy on GCE on GCP, I have succesfully backup and storing on GCS and i want to restore into GCE, and finnally failed, i consider VBR using Cloud Build to atomate restoring. the same log from VBR log and Cloud Build History. I think GCP not using GC, now using Artifact Registry, and i checked the image import link, its totally empty. any suggest in this case? the same case i using VBR 13. 

Hi teamThis is my first attempt at this and seeing some issues.I am deploying an AHV cluster. I am doing the proxy\backup appliance install as part of this process.I point to the name of Prism Element cluster, not Prism CentralI get a warning that says failed to register Nutanix AHV Cluster: Failed to refresh entities.The process completes, cluster appears and I can open the Nutanix console from the VBR console.I verify that the specified account worksThe proxy appears as unavailable. I open the Veeam backup for Nutanix AHV console.This logs in with same account as specified.Under Administration > Infrastructure the cluster shows its state as unavailable. Hi Everyone,I got a message from  an avid follower who was wondering how they could access the Kubevirt VM that we setup a few episodes ago. I figured this was a good time to dive into that topic as well.We will install xrdp (like we did for the Rocky Linux VM) in our Lubuntu kubevirt vm.sudo apt install xrdp -ysudo systemctl enable xrdpsudo systemctl start xrdpBut what now? Happy Thursday Community! Thought I'd share another Linux process today – how to resize a Linux volume used as a Veeam Repository in Linux OS, specifically increasing its size. This also is in reference to using an array as your Volume-backed storage. Logical Volume Manager (LVM) processes won't be discussed. Additionally, though there is a process to decrease Volume sizes as well, I also won't be discussing that process either. When wanting to decrease Volume size, I highly recommend creating a new Volume of the desired size, then copy your data to it to prevent potential data corruption.As most of you probably know, increasing Volume sizes within Windows is pretty straight forward → increase LUN storage on your array, then rescan your disks in Windows Disk Manager, then Extend the Volume. It takes a minimal amount of time to perform. Within Linux, there are a few more tasks needing to be performed than in Windows to get your Volume size increased. I'll share exactly what those steps

Hi allI was wondering if it is possible to create a backup job of a VM, without having access to the VM Host Server. I have installed Backup & Replication on the VM client itself, connected a backup repository, but when I try to create a backup job, it asks for the IP and admin credentials of the VM Host. Thanks for your help

Good day, I have a PVE 9.0.18 in my NUC, using local storage only. Yesterday I updated the VBR and Plugin to the very lastest versions. In my home lab I want to experiment with the new Veeam VBR v13 appliance. On one hand to try it out before migrating at the organization I work for, on the other hand because I love to try new things out and thinker with it. So I use the ISO deployment method to deploy on a virtual machine on Proxmox PVE, that is a supported scenario as I read in the documentation. I go through the installation procedure, slightly annoyed that I can’t select a keyboard layout and have to type a difficult password on the wrong layout, but I can manage that 😉. On my first attempt I’ve set a static IP and a simple hostname (not FQDN) and disabled IPv6. I’ve chosen not to create a security officer account, since it’s just me anyways. The option is there to skip, so I assume it’s supported. After completing the process, I can access the host management on port 10443 just fine using IP address or using the hostname(created a DNS record for it). Hello,When using VDC Calcultor for Azure VM workloads, for a snapshot size of ~64.4 TB there is an associated snapshot cost (~$3,297) with a Bronze policy (1 per day for 7 days), I am missing clarity on how this cost is applied over time.More specifically, could you please clarify:1. Is this snapshot cost:- calculated per month,- per year,- or is it a cumulative cost based on retention (number of snapshots × retention duration)?2. (running Veeam 13, Community/Free edition on Win 11).I did a bunch of migrations and updates a month ago. Before doing so I set aside the existing Veeam backups, so I have them. When I try to import a backup for one server from it (just to browse and retrieve a couple files) it tells me "Path contains invalid symbols...",. But it doesn’t. I have a path with no special characters or trailing spaces or anything like that. The message isn’t any more specific.I’ve tried mounting the file share where it exists as a mapped drive and a network location. I would copy it into the local machine to try that, but there isn’t room.Also, the import dialog says “Specify a backup to import. You can import backups from a backup repository or any managed server.” but the dropdown menu only lists the local machine and my two hyper-V hosts, not the repository (which is on a network share).Thanks.

Hi VC,Happy new year first of all!I’m currently backing up a SQL VM via the Veeam SQL Plugin to a datastore within my production environment, at the same time I’m replicating said VM via CDP to my DR site.I’ve currently setup the following schedule via the Veeam SQL Plugin:15 minute transaction / log backupDaily differential backup @ 18:30 (except Sunday)Weekly full backup (Sunday) @ 18:30The differential backups are failing when the CDP is enabled; the CDP runs 24-hours a day as we need near-zero dataloss.Any ideas how I can have these two running at the same time without the errors above?Many thanks,LGH
