Hey Community, I received a few messages from community members asking how to get notifications when there is a new content published (in this case we talked about “Blogs and Podcasts” category). I thought I would do a quick post about it. First, there is a possibility to subscribe to every category at Community Hub Let’s say, you would like to subscribe to “Blogs and Podcasts” category. To do so, you have to push ‘SUBSCRIBE’ button at the right side as shown at the screenshot below: Once it’s done - you will start receiving notifications about new topics created!Again, you can get subscribed to any category: whether it’s Discussion boards or News. You can also manage notification settings at your profile. If you experience any issues with notifications - please let me know!

The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency. - Bill Gates Do you have to do that (tedious) task every day? The Korner is a place where you can start your Kubernetes Journey.Veeam understood correctly that a huge group of IT specialists will need to get familiar with Kubernetes at an accelerate time frame because the demand for specialists will grow exponentially. However, this is much easier said than done given the fact that many people are working a full-time job and perhaps still believe that they have not yet achieved enough expertise in existing technologies that they are working with. The Kubernetes Korner will help everyone overcome these difficulties and learn together. What can you do at the Kubernetes Korner? Do the daily Kube Task, a brief Kubernetes task in an environment that we help you setup Ask any question you may have Create posts. Watch out for special events and meetings that are Cloud Native related Think of any ideas for the Kube Korner, this is your Korner too! We are all on this learning path together and our joint efforts will result in everyone’s common success!!
A much awaited feature request is coming to Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 5.1. This will require Veeam Backup and Replication 12.1. It is the ability to scan backups with SureBackup. This will not be the full blown version like the vSphere edition with Data Labs capabilities but it is a good start. The need to protect your restore points from malware and ransomware attacks it a must. Customers can no longer wait for an infection to happen. As you see in the headlines when attacks happen, these could have already been dormant in the company for some time. I heard this time and time again. It just takes one time for a bad actor to be successful but you have to be correct one hundred percent of the time. SureBackup allows for scanning backups utilizing your antivirus software or Yara rules. If you search google this is what you will find as a definition for Yara - Yet Another Ridiculous Acronym. Veeam Data Platform 12.1 will bring radical resilience to assist in a time of need. If you are
Hey everyone,I posted a while ago that my V12 install is only reading 107gb of my 12tb tapes, I have 29 tapes loaded and 2 drives I have worked with support on both my Tape drive manufacturer side (Spectra Logic) and I have worked with VEEAM support on this for nearly 3 months and it seems that we have all come to the conclusion fo microsoft not seeing the correct driver. I use the IBM driver as VEEAM specified and it fails to see the tapes fully, I use the “Microsoft Medium Changer” driver Spectra told me to use and it still fails to see everything - we have done all sorts of troubleshooting (removed the ISCSI checkbox, installed and uninstalled drivers, disabled the device, uninstalled the device, updated VEEAM, updated Windows) and so so much more. Looking for any other advice on what else to try or where to turn from here? Windows 2022 (latest updates applied)VEEAM V12 (Frist update applied, not 12.1)IBM drivers installedWindows medium changer driver installedLTO8 Tapes Thanks gu
Hi Everyone, I am planning on moving my blog. What seemed like a great deal at the time has turned into an expensive auto-renewal at the worst possible time. Luckily I changed my CC so .. 😁 no auto delete $$ this year. What are the alternatives? What do people pay? What is the best method to download my present blog content? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Everyone,I have moved forward on my home lab. Proxmox is installed and I am finding it very intuitive. I now have to see about what I can do about a Veeam setup (can I nest a Veeam supported Hypervizor in there etc). I have also added one of those ethernet over power lines connections to my basement. That also seems to be working perfectly, hooray no need to rip out walls for cabling. I got to thinking though, so many of us need to test and play with Veeam outside of work confines and the info about home labs is scattered all over the site in different posts. Do people think it would be helpful to have a separate Home Lab section. This is a place where newbies or people re-thinking their setup could come with the ultimate goal of getting more lab exposure to Veeam. Or should we just leave as be and use the search function? What does everyone think? Again I don’t know how feasible this would be and it would not be a new group per-se. Just an idea.
Hi, I am testing Backup and Replication Community Edition and have a very simple test environment consisting of a single Windows Server 2022 with one boot SSD, two HDD’s and a third HDD which is my dedicated Backup Repository. When I start the job, it take over an hour before it will begin to process/transfer data. Is this normal or is stuck waiting for something before it can start the backup? The server really has no load on it as it is a test machine (physical, not virtual). Below is a screenshot: Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you!
We have recently encountered a scenario in which backup data hosted on a Cloud repository was lost due to technical issue. We were not made aware of the situation until a recovery request. We would like to see additional conditional based monitoring implemented in Veeam One for backup repositories to better detect significant drops in storage utilization. I have submitted a feature request in the R&D forums, but I am wondering what is being done in the community to monitor this kind of behavior for cloud repositories. Thanks,Paul R
Hello, We are looking into moving a set of our VMs that are currently being backed up by Veeam behind a firewall for extra security. We are running the latest version of Veeam and have VUL. Will the VUL policy allow us to install a separate instance of Veeam B&R server behind this new firewall to backup the servers there? And will I need to divide the current license count according to my needs and apply to the new instance of Veeam B&R server? Thank you for your comments and ideas in advance.
Is anybody out there using a VBR with a Postgres Configuration DB to backup & restore TDE encrypted SQL Server DB(s)?
All our TDE encrypted DB(s) are in 'Simple Recovery' mode. Hence there's no 'Point-In-Time' recovery needed. We simply restore a DB from daily backups. Our VBR server is configured as our Veeam gateway server. We'd like to switch to Postgres to save $ on licensing. If you are currently doing this successfully then please let me know your VBR version & Postgres version.Thank You!Kevin
Hi, Our PKI cert has expired on our VCS server, and as a result the backups of the VMs are failing as Veeam can’t connect to the VCS. Its going to take us a few days to get another cert generated and installed on the VCS - but is there any workaround we can do in the meantime to get the Veeam Backup and Replication software to backup our VMs? I’m assuming not really - as that’s the point of certificates!Any suggestions most welcome.Thanks...
We have a job configured in Veeam Plug-in for Rman, version 12, and retention is not working. With this Plugin, we configure everything from the Veeam console, I attach images. The retention is 7 days, the repository is a disk (not tape), a level 0 backup runs on Tuesdays and differential every day. The jobs finish fine, without alerts, but on the seventh day nothing is deleted. Question: do I have to configure something else in Rman? We did not find any more Rman options when configuring the Plugin from the Veeam console. Thank you
How to retain VMs brought up using VDRO longer than 7 days?In order for us to retain the VMs past 7 days, we decided to basically stop Veeam services on our VDRO server. Needless to say, our VDRO is inoperable at this state. We’d like to bring it up and not affect the VMs that were created. So I think, this means that we need to modify entries in the VDRO database to “cleanly” remove this from VDRO but un-touch on the vSphere side. We can rename the objects in vSphere but not sure if this would work since VDRO may be using object IDs in its DB instead of object name. The VM involves is a big DB and just running a DB check took about a week and after this a patch needs to be applied necessitating another check that is why we need it longer than 7 days. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. I have also opened a low sev ticket with support and will share what they recommend.
Hello everybody,I would like to know scenario with retention policy in this way. I don’t want to have Forever Forward Incremental backup method because as I saw it’s not recommended by Veeam also, if we do it without GFS.I would like to create Full backups (synthetic) every week.So I’m just a little bit confused how restore points will be available. If I have configured 7 restore points but in GFS I have option to store Full Backups for 2 weeks, how it will end up looking?I’m more curios how increments are going to be removed.
