Hey everyone.

Can anyone give a reason on why immutability is setup for linux and amazon cloud storage and not for windows and other cloud storage like azure, GCP?

For Azure:

Today, Microsoft doesn‘t provide the necessary features/API for Veeam to allow immutability on object level. Only on Blob level, but veeam needs to work on Object Level to provide Immutability in the software.

But chances are high, that with Veeam V12 or later, this will become possible. The object level immutability feature is currently developed and in preview by microsoft.

For Windows:

The filesystem doesn‘t provide an immutability flag like Linux does.

 

For GCP:

i think, it‘s the same like for Azure. It‘s missing API and Features on googles site.

@Mildur is spot on here I’d just like to add it’s not just AWS that support immutability. AWS S3 storage supports immutability but also S3 compatible works too, for the list of certified options go to:
