I enrolled in a Veeam 13 subscription course, but the lab setup instructions appear to be based on a 2023 recording and an older ESXi licensing model. Because of that, the setup options shown in the course no longer work as presented, which makes it difficult or impossible to complete the home lab as expected. On top of that, I can clearly see the training is v12 = false advertising. The reason for the failure comes when I install VCSA. The error shows the license used in ESXi is invalid however I followed the instructions in the training and the instructor downloaded the same software as I. Conclusion is the material and training is old but sold as some new amazing thing. I contacted support by email, used the chatbot, and reviewed the help section, but I have still not received a response after 78 hours.My concern is not just the delay in support, but that this course is still being sold even though the lab guidance appears outdated. I upgraded to Veeam 13 a few weeks ago.   I finished adding my 2.5G network and VLANs on Thursday.   My Ubuntu 24.04 servers are backing up fine.   Veeam 13 in my workgroup wants certificates now.  I had to spin up a Windows 2022 Standalone CA to create certificates for all Windows 10 and 11 workstations.   I will be creating the workstation certs from it today and installing them.   Any suggestions on getting Windows 11 to backup?  I hope the cert does the trick.  2.5G network is much faster.  I will post numbers tonight.  

Hello,I'm hitting a wall as we do not necessarily want to configure OS credentials for each and every single VM. Sure we can pre-deploy SSH keys, play with Tag to identify the Guest OS (different types of authentication between Windows/Linux) yadda yadda, but there must be a simpler way.I have tried with a Linux VM:1. installed deployment kit, we could just predeploy it everywhere automatically2. it listens on 6160 (installer service IIRC)3. When running a job using Guest OS credentials: "Use management agent" it doesn't even talk to 6160 but claims that it's falling back to trying to connect to guest since transport service is not availableWhy isn't it just installing it using installer service? Is it possible at all to use VBR in some kind of "agent" mode (while veeam optimally takes care of updating the agents as it sees fit)?Or do we have to use it in this shady ephemeral client "access-all and install whatever I like" mode?What is deployment kit then good for anyway?Thanks 

We tried accounts with local admin access to the VBR servers and VeeamOne, domain accounts with elevated privileges (plus local admin) and accounts with full admin VBR application rights and still got the permissions error. We followed this KB with no luck.  Whatever we do we get the permissions error.   https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/userguide/connection_to_backup_servers.html?ver=13 What rights do we need for this account to add the VBR server. Another note I was able to add the vCenter server with the vCenter Administrator account.

I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question. When you use VDC Vault as 3rd offsite copy for your backups, but want to write archive data for 5 year retention to Azure (same datacentre) - what costs do you incur (ingress/egress/transactional costs) when writing it off to archive storage? I have heard rumours of an archive tier coming into VDC Vault? 

Someone can help me to understand how forward forever incremental work on immutable storage?Example the retention set to 7, the immutable period set to 7 days, block generated is 10 days and the source job with ‘no periodic full’ configuredThe time line is :Day 1: full backup Day 2 - 16 : incremental Day 17 : Day 1 full backup will be expired and can be deleted. Will veeam delete this point since the retention is over? If yes then how we can restore if there no full backup? Or will full backup merged with 2nd incremental, but 2nd incrementall still in immutable.

in this configuration we run daily incrementals (Monday thru Friday) to disk (Linux Repository)on Saturday Morning (just after Midnight) we start our Tape Backups job,(there is only 1 job that looks at the entire repository)  it is a GFS job that Generates synthetic full backups for Weekly / Monthly retention.  the HP Library target contains 2 LT08 Tape drive that are streaming at about 540MB/Sec.  This would probably be acceptable with the exception of one 42 TB file server (starts about 1/3 of the way through the job and grabs one tape drive for 50 Hours+.)   This causes the Overall tape Backup to run up to 76 Hours.  Spilling into the next days incremental Jobs.   I’m considering a change to the Daily’s Backups jobs  to have them Generate Weekly Full backups on the repository, and then use Tape Copy Jobs to move the Full backups to tape?  is it worth the effort?  is it Supported?

hello, i am running veeam agent 13 standalone free editon, the latest version. i know it is the latest version, as about dialog box shows that.i getting the following error and i do know understand what the exact issue is?please, my first question is did veeam actually complete the backup?this has been going on for several weeks.the full backup is done each week and it completes without error.what does `Agent failed to process method {Signature.FullRecheckBackup}` means and perhaps how to fix it?the destination is a smb share on a synology device. tho, in this case, as mentioned, the client is running standalone veeam agent 13note: that same synology device, has been a backup repository for veeam backup and replication for many years, never had any issues. thanks much, david   

When I try to do this after specifying an output directory of /home/amonra I get:which doesn’t help lots.  What are you using /tmp when I explicitly gave an output directory where there’s loads of space.Now I guess I need to massively enlarge /tmp which is a problemD.

I just finished setting up our Veeam Enterprise Manager server and wanted to serve it as a website thats only accessible to our office WAN IPs. Does anyone know how one would accomplish this or if it is doable? I see the website in IIS and I do have a valid wildcard cert but support told me they could not help with design so I am unsure what the proper way to serve this webpage would be. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hello Im very new to Veeam and i installed on a server Veeam Backup and Replication. Now i get this error message: (it never worked)  I read that the API Service needs to be started, but this is not working and an error occurs.  Also its not possible do uninstall the Veeam Software with the Error → Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. It is the adiminstrator user. The new Update i was able to install but also after this update from march i get the same error message. Does anyone have a idea how i can fix this issue?

Hi All I hope you are well. I created a report on VeeamOne for a report to see if the jobs is successful or not and I published it for the customer to use as a dashboard. The customer want to add a column that gives the time of the last backup but on the repot I only have Job Name, Duration (last run), Transferred, Avg. Duration, Status it also only shows the firs 10 jobs and not the 43 jobs when you scroll. how can I add this or is it not possible to do so?  

What are the essential ports required for windows agent based backup in veeam between windows server and backup server ( windows ) , the protection group is already existing and few servers backups are running successfully, new servers are being added to protection group and agent installation / rescan is getting failed 

Hallo zusammen, mir ist bei einer V13 Appliance aufgefallen, dass diese alle ~5 Minuten versucht “logcollector” bzw “logcollector.<search-domain>” aufzulösen. Ich habe dazu nichts in Foren oder Doku gefunden.Es ist nichts richtung syslog oder SNMP trap konfiguriert. Weiß jemand wofür das ist?

Instead of backing up the volume, it’s taking multiple copies of the data, one for each snapshot. I think you need to allow specification of which btrfs snapshots/subvolumes not to backup as otherwise you copy the volume multiple times which is really not sensible.

Hello,as in the title, given the software stopped being able to make backups after the April windows update that changed vss and a few other things , is there anyone knowing when the situation may get fixed ?And will be fixed with an update to Agent , or need to wait for a new monthly update from microsoft ? I’m a bit new but other vendors have been I think more vocal publishing info and/or in some cases updates to their software , while I think I didn’t see anything about Agent

I understand the basics of how to add Malware Exclusions. However, I cannot figure out how to deal with some false-positives without severely crippling malware detection and basically making me want to just disable it all together because of the amount of time I have to spend dealing with false-positives because of the lack of granularity.Here’s an example:C:\Program Files (x86)\App\FileSec.xml.encryptedC:\Program Files (x86)\App\Bin\FileSec.xml.encryptedThe files above are easy enough to deal with but the app periodically creates a backup of it’s settings and those two files are replicated to a new path, each time a backup is performed. Hello All, We are currently using Veeam Backup and Replication at my company and we’re using object storage (S3) as our primary backup repository, we are planning to implement a secondary on-prem NAS storage to store full backups every once in a while as an extra safety measure.I’m evaluating NAS options and would like your recommendation for a model that is fully compatible and optimized for VBR. My required capacity for NAS is ~24 TB usable. Specifically:    1.    Recommended NAS vendors/models validated with VBR    2.    Preferred protocol (SMB vs NFS) for performance and stability    3.    Minimum hardware specifications (CPU, RAM, RAID type, network)    4.    Any known limitations or best practices for NAS as a secondary repository Thanks.

Hi, I have a few chained vsphere backup and replication jobs that can be finished in 1 hour or 10 hours or 30 hours, so scheduling them is a bit of a pain in the butt. If the network/raid is already slow at the moment, I don’t want multiple jobs running at the same time, getting more over time, causing vsphere snapshot problems etc.Is it possible to define “Don’t start this job if there is any job running already”?And if not, is it possible to insert pauses between chained jobs, so you could create a loop where 5 jobs are executed one after another, then there’s a 3 hour break, then the first job is started again? ...ideally with a window where no job is allowed to start? Thanks in advance.

Hi Team,Currently we are facing an issue.We have multiple full backup file for NAS backup, with condition:Backup file 1 on repository A --> inactive backup chain.Backup file 2 on repository A --> actively running.Our goal is to move all backup files (1 & 2) to another repository, because we have concern about capacity on repository A almost full.Our customers do not want to lose all the backup data stored in Repository A.My question is:Is there a way to move or copy all backup files 1 and 2 from repository A to repository B without having to disable the existing backup job that is currently running? This is because when we copy the backups, it disables the existing backup job. Our customers’ file shares are very large (ranging from tens to hundreds of TB), so backups take several days to complete, and we don’t want to lose any RPO during the daily incremental.We already use backup copy, but not all backup files are copied to another repository.Thanks and regards.

ciao, a me è capitato di vederlo un po’ troppo spesso.Server DB che lavorano su storage super ridondati con contratti di assistenza mission critical 4 ore 24x7 dove lo spazio per i log è diversamente grande “poi ci pensa il sw di backup a manutenere i log”.Il “nostro” è capacissimo di gestire ottimamente i log di MsSQL, Oracle, SAP e via dicendo. Però capita che il repository dove scrive è ad esempio uno “storage” di cui non faccio il nome, ma c’è due volte la quarta lettera dell’alfabeto.Sistema storage che non sempre ha lo stesso livello di ridondanza hardware e magari l’assistenza NBD. Che, facendo i buoni e prendendo un week end normale senza ponti, significa che se si rompe il venerdì mattina normalmente viene riparato il lunedì pomeriggio. Ci stanno 4 giorni di log nel ‘disco’ dedicato? No? Hello, I have some File Backup and Proxmox VE Backup jobs configured in Veeam Backup & Replication. However, one of them shows an "Outdated data mover" error. When I go to Backup Infrastructure, rescan the Linux Server, and run the backup job, the error disappears and the backup runs normally.However, after a few minutes, the data mover error reappears, and the scheduled backups fail. In other words, every day I have to rescan the server to update the data mover service and perform the backup manually.I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Veeam Transport service directly on the server, I deleted the /opt/veeam folder and then rescanned the server in Veeam to reinstall the agent, but the problem persists.I'm using Veeam Backup e Replication version 13, but this error started occurring when I was using version 12.The server in question is running Debian 12.I have two other servers, one also with Debian 12 and another with Debian 13, where the file backup jobs run nor
