The case is for Veeam Backup & Replication version 12.The repositories are ExaGrid appliances configured as a scale-out backup repository.Two separate Veeam Backup & Replication instances use different shares on the same ExaGrid appliances.Fast Clone was enabled on both Veeam instances after the ExaGrid firmware was updated to a version that supports Fast Clone.The SOBR placement policy is Data Locality.Fast Clone worked on one Veeam instance during synthetic full backups and initially did not work on the second Veeam instance.We later observed that synthetic full backups on the second Veeam instance used Fast Clone on the second day without running an Active Full backup.Veeam treats a synthetic full backup as a regular full backup that resets the backup chain.Veeam uses Fast Clone for synthetic full backups and other synthetic operations. We understood that  a synthetic full can serve as a chain reset point and enable Fast Clone utilization. Hi,I am trying to restore a file from a Veeam backup for one of our Windows file servers, but it looks like Veeam treating the VM as a linux agent and is asking me to set up a helper appliance. I tested another file server, and it works as usual without requiring one. I have also ran rescan on the hyper-v and the VM is showing up as MS windows server 2019 in the inventory.Do you have any suggestions on what might be causing this? Thank you!

hello, using standalone agent, latest version of 13.0.1220, windows 11 25H2.my backup job as 11 backups, but when i tried to do a restore, only the latest two backups are listed.also, the .vbm file lists those two latest backups.this can be seen three ways as shown in the images belowso, i wanted to know how to re-create the .vbm from a set of .vik|.vbk files ?i know that VBAR has an import feature but that is not an option for me.i found these scripts from 2017 that are said not to work anymorehttps://forums.veeam.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=20568&start=0any suggestions? thanks, david     

hello, i am running veeam agent 13 standalone free editon, the latest version. i know it is the latest version, as about dialog box shows that.i getting the following error and i do know understand what the exact issue is?please, my first question is did veeam actually complete the backup?this has been going on for several weeks.the full backup is done each week and it completes without error.what does `Agent failed to process method {Signature.FullRecheckBackup}` means and perhaps how to fix it?the destination is a smb share on a synology device. tho, in this case, as mentioned, the client is running standalone veeam agent 13note: that same synology device, has been a backup repository for veeam backup and replication for many years, never had any issues. thanks much, david

Todo bien con ello, la pregunta pasa por lo siguiente: Si en caso de que se dañe el servidor VBR y no tenga como recuperar las configuraciones de los jobs, puedo volver a unirme a ese repositorio in perder los backups en él? Obviamente estarían como huérfanos, pero si se podria? Saludos,

Buenas comunidad. Estoy protegiendo una carga de trabajo de Windows 2012 y 2029 (maquinas virtuales de VMware) y que es utilizado como file server, ambos tienen discos de 20 TB y 15 TB aprox de información, y millones de archivos, esto se almacena en un repositorio de Catalyst de StoreOnce (configurado según recomendaciones de Veeam y HP) con un Gateway mediante SAN, con política de 15 puntos de restauración y GFS. El problema lo tengo en lentitud del respaldo y con los GFS ocupan mucho espacio.Les consulto si esto esta bien, o recomendarían algún ajuste.

The Veeam server is installed on a physical Windows server and also acts as the backup proxy.I would like to understand: In real-world environments, how much performance difference do you typically see between NBD (Network) mode and Direct SAN mode for backup and restore operations? Is the performance improvement significant enough to justify implementing Direct SAN access? How risky is it to present production VMware datastore LUNs to the Veeam server for Direct SAN access? What best practices do you follow to prevent accidental modification or corruption of production datastore LUNs when they are presented to the Veeam server? Looking forward to your suggestions. Unable to install the windows veeam agent remotely from backup server, checked the svc installer logs and can find VeeamDeploymentDlllibrary was not loaded mentioned, checked the C:\Windows\Veeam\Backup and do not find VeeamDeploymentDll here, checked with network and server team and ports are allowed 6160 and 11735.

We’ve got an application that utilizes MySQL on Windows (Win 2025 OS). I’ve seen search entries on how to use Veeam pre- and post-processing scripts to properly backup MySQL, but those were all Linux-based OSes, and this app runs on MySQL for Windows. I tried searching the KB for MySQL on Windows guidance, and came up empty. Any have any info or guides on how best to do that? I mean, I could ask the vendor to just make a scheduled task to have MySQL export out an ASCII  copy of the DB, and I just backup the whole Windows VM like normal, and use the BAK that way, if we ever needed to do a restore or whatever.

Hello, I have got few vms removed from primary backup job - since these VMs are decommissioned, the copy jobs are configured with the primary job name - immediate copy , however these vms are not removed from the copy jobs even after the retention period, i can see these under backups ( disk copy ) option. Kindly advise

We tried accounts with local admin access to the VBR servers and VeeamOne, domain accounts with elevated privileges (plus local admin) and accounts with full admin VBR application rights and still got the permissions error. We followed this KB with no luck.  Whatever we do we get the permissions error.   https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/userguide/connection_to_backup_servers.html?ver=13 What rights do we need for this account to add the VBR server. Another note I was able to add the vCenter server with the vCenter Administrator account.

Hi. I have a mid-range gaming PC. It has a 1 terabyte internal SSD. 510 gigs are used, of which Steam games are 230 gigs (easily redownloadable), hyberfil.sys is 13 gigs, pagefile.sys is 8 gigs and my VRChat cache is 32 gigs (easily rebuildable). Experiments have shown that this filesystem, when these items are excluded, compresses to 185 gigs and that an incremental each day comes to about 20 gigabytes.I have a 1 terabyte external disk drive that I want to leave permanently plugged in. Obviously I’d like to keep as many days’ backup as possible, while allowing for reliable backup.What settings do people suggest I use?  Keep backups for _ days, and in the Advanced tab, what should I put for: Synthetic full backup, Active full backup, Defrag and compact full backup file. For the advanced tab, I don’t quite understand them.

Hi, We’re about to implement Veeam Backup for Microsoft365 (VBO on premises), we already have VBR. We want this M365 backups to go to tape drives (regulatory requirements) so we were thinking on having a repository that is shared accross VBO and VBR, where we deposit VBO backup files, that is readable from VBR to do file to tape jobs. Is it possible? do you have a better architecture?

Hi All,I was working through estimating capacity for a LHR (standalone) in the calculator when I noticed that it doesn’t appear to take into account the fact the the LHR will make GFS points immutable for their entire duration.  I’m assuming this is happening because REFS/XFS are lumped together in one check vs being able to state that you’re using an LHR.Settings - 14 Dailies, 4 weeklies, 12 monthlies - immutability 14 days - REFS/XFS checked.For LHR the result below should show all GFS points as immutable.   I am wondering if something should be added that can identify if you are using an LHR to show immutability properly? I know it won’t impact the calculations at all but I think it would help to make sure anyone using an LHR would understand that correct immutability expectations.

WMI method call failed. Object reference not set to an instance of an object."**Troubleshooting steps already performed:**1. Verified WMI service is running — no errors found2.
