Hello Im very new to Veeam and i installed on a server Veeam Backup and Replication. Now i get this error message: (it never worked)  I read that the API Service needs to be started, but this is not working and an error occurs.  Also its not possible do uninstall the Veeam Software with the Error → Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. It is the adiminstrator user. The new Update i was able to install but also after this update from march i get the same error message. Does anyone have a idea how i can fix this issue?

Sorry to rant, but I have nowhere else to turn, and it's beginning to impact our clients. Veeam 13 has been absolutely horrible to install on all our backup servers. The upgrades are breaking the installs on current backup servers. It is straight up failing to install and start the Veeam service on a brand new server, and Veeam support has been unable to figure it out for two weeks. I've put escalation requests in and I'm getting nowhere. has anybody seen behaviour like this? The people on the Veeam subreddit agree that Veeam 13 has been horrible to roll out.

Hello everyone! So currently we have deployed VBR 12 CE on a virtualized Windows machine running on Proxmox VE 8.4.11. We are backing up our OES Server running on version 24.3.3. We want to be able to backup our OES Server including the network volumes running on NSS and all the metadata for the files on these volumes. Currently we are only doing VM backups. Is this enough to backup the metadata?If not, what would be the best way to ensure the metadata is getting backed up aswell?Is it possible to perform File level restores in this configuration? Thank you, Nico

Hello,We are facing a backup issue with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows on one specific Windows 11 Pro workstation.We have two Windows 11 Pro PCs, both fully updated and both backing up to the same SMB share.On PC #2, backups work fine.On PC #1, backups always fail.The job starts normally and goes through: Initializing Preparing for backup Creating VSS snapshot Calculating digests Reading EFI partition Reading OS (C:) The failure occurs during Finalizing with the following errors: Application is shutting down. 1、veeam备份文件集到tape，postgreSQL\data\base\16398文件夹占用100GB空间。2、在offline上的A磁带操作remove from catalog，发现在remove的时候，postgreSQL的数据量还在疯狂增长。（C盘可用20G，remove到一半时可用为0G。） Q：如何解决remove catalog时数据量的增长？      postgreSQL的占用空间是否有问题？（100GB）以前用veritas BE，数据库也没那么大占用空间啊。

Hello,I have a backup of a Windows PC on the NAS and have added the NAS IP as a backup repository. However, the program says that the path contains invalid characters. If I map the NAS as a drive, I no longer get the error, but the backup cannot be found. If I download the backup to the PC, it works. What could this be?The path is:\\192.168.68.136\PC_Backups\laptop_ideapad_2026\Ideapad_Job_Aeternum\Ideapad Job Aeternum2026-03-08T115126.vbkReplacing spaces with underscores does not help either. As I said, downloading it works.I use a QNAP NAS. Regards 

Hi!We have an ESXi 7 host with some VM on and want to replace it with a new host with ESXi 8.We have Veeam backup & Repliaction Enterprise 12.3 on a standalone server.The backup is going to a NAS, and then out to a cloud backup.I want to migrate all my VM to the new ESXi host but without losing the backupchain.Not sure what method that I should use.Can anyone here please give me som input what path is the best way to go?We rather not start from the beginning with all our backups.

I am creating failover plans in VBR and want to script changing DNS entries to point to new IPs.  I can’t find any documentation about how these scripts run, any parameters that can be passed to them etc.  All I can see is that they run on the VBR server.  Can anyone point me to something?Thanks

Hello All I am reconfiguring my Backups, and trying to achieve disaster recovery, i want to backup local VMs,Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, for that i am using Veeam Backup and replication V13 (VM) Veeam Microsoft 365 for Email, OneDrive and SharePoint. look to add Entra ID but not sure which Veeam product will be best.for repositories i am thinking one local (immutable backup), Azure Blob (immutable backup) now my question is which product i should use for Entra ID backup, what i should use for local immutable backup, is “Object First” devices good? my backup will be under 8 TB, and what i should use for remote backup Azure or i think Veeam have product cloud vault? what will be best.

Malware detection scanned  a suspicious file from backup but the file is actually legit and so I marked it as clean and Exclude. If I modify the same file for testing purposes, will the malware detection flag it as safe, legit file since I marked it Clean and Exclude? Or it will be detected as suspicious again? Thanks. 

Dear Community, As we transition to Veeam 13 I may be getting a bit lost on the usage/purpose of the above Appliance.I have deployed the VSA ver 13 as in-house demo to explore the features and usage. I also deployed the Veeam Hardened Repository 2.0.0.8 and I like how it makes things easier.However the Usage of the Veeam Infrastructure Appliance which can also be used to deploy the Linux VHR has other roles/features that may not be clear on how they plug-in to the entire deployment. I am reading this part https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/linux_infrastructure_appliance_byb.html?ver=13 and I would like to understand which components that we used to integrate and configure in VBR ver 12 can be compared. Hope its clear. Though I hope for some more Videos on deployment of the same, on the Veeam Youtube channel on the same with demos.

(running Veeam 13, Community/Free edition on Win 11).I did a bunch of migrations and updates a month ago. Before doing so I set aside the existing Veeam backups, so I have them. When I try to import a backup for one server from it (just to browse and retrieve a couple files) it tells me "Path contains invalid symbols...",. But it doesn’t. I have a path with no special characters or trailing spaces or anything like that. The message isn’t any more specific.I’ve tried mounting the file share where it exists as a mapped drive and a network location. I would copy it into the local machine to try that, but there isn’t room.Also, the import dialog says “Specify a backup to import. You can import backups from a backup repository or any managed server.” but the dropdown menu only lists the local machine and my two hyper-V hosts, not the repository (which is on a network share).Thanks.

I would like to output tape backup details in CSV format.Using PowerShell, for example.The output contains the execution time for each virtual machine, which can be confirmed in the history details in the GUI, and whether a full backup or differential backup was performed.When I copy and paste from the history details in the GUI, I am having trouble because when I analyze the data, an execution time of 40 minutes is sometimes calculated as 40 hours.Does anyone know how to output this information?

Hi teamA hardened repo using the VEEAM Hardened ISO experienced a power cycle and upon reboot its out of band interface lit up like a x-mas tree.Upon further investigation it appeared that the virtual disk was just gone. A message indicated that RAID6 detected foreign configuration.Been working with vendor and they have asked to install storcli on to the server.Would this be possible, being a hardened repo? They have a non-recommended method alternative too.Can’t believe that a power cycle did this and not sure what the root cause is but would be good if we could get it back. Otherwise will have to rebuild and sync primary backups againcheers

Hi,we are planning to use the Veeam Data Cloud for Salesforce Backup. We need to keep backups for 2 years. What, if we decide to switch the backup-partner. For example Salesforce native backup? We cancle our subscription. Fair-Use-Policy will delete the backups after 30 days, correct? What options do we have, to keep  the backups as long as our requirements are? The same question would be, if we decide to use veeam backup for m365 in the data cloud. Here we would have onedrive files, with a retention time of 2-10 years.  We do not plan to quit anything, but we need a valid exit strategie if we decide to use a cloud product. 

Hi everyone,I am currently reviewing the design of our Veeam Backup & Replication server and would like to follow best practices for disk layout.At the moment our VBR server is a VM with the following specs: 8 vCPU 32 GB RAM Windows Server Local SQL instance Only one virtual disk (C:) which is a VHDX located on HDD storage Currently everything is located on this single disk, including: Veeam installation SQL database Veeam logs Veeam catalog configuration backup Windows OS I am considering adding an additional virtual disk located on SSD storage and moving the Veeam-related components there to improve performance and follow recommended architecture.My questions are: What is the recommended way to migrate components from the existing C: disk to the new disk without breaking the installation? Which components should ideally be moved to the new disk (SQL DB, catalog, logs, etc.)? Is it necessary to stop Veeam services during the migration? Are there any known p
