Onboarded server on VeeamOne appears greyed out and shows error "Uncaught exception thrown by method called Reflection""
We just moved a couple of servers to a new volume in NetApp using its new large file/volume feature. Nothing has changed on the backup job except the volume that it is backing up. The smaller server around 3TB was able to be backed up using SAN but the other server that is approximately 43 TB is being backed up using NBD. Prior to the move, both servers are doing SAN direct. I would think that since these are both on the same volume is one has been successfully backed up using SAN the other should as well. Both servers are also in the same compute cluster and both are using the same proxies. What is causing this behavior?
Good morning guys,I recently noticed that some of our M365 backup jobs (various tenants and various backup VMs) always complete with warnings. We are having this problem for about a week or so. The messages always look like this:Failed to backup item: /personal/testuser_testdomain_com/Documents/Todo.one, Download request retry timeout exceeded. Has anybody of you noticed similar problems when trying to backup OneNote-Files? Thank you very much best regardsyanni4iwx
Just a heads up for those of you using Veeam plugins. Especially, if they are unmanaged by VBR, which we see quite often for the large line of business applications.Today we have plugins for SAP-HANA, SAP on Oracle (Linux only), Oracle RMAN (Windows and Linux), IBM Db2 and MS-SQL.Having done quite a few upgrades for larger customers recently, I had to learn some non-obvious peculiarities about plugin compatibility:First, you might think (as I did), that VBR always supports the plugin of the major release below the one you’re upgrading to. In fact, it says so in the help center: “Veeam Backup & Replication supports the latest two major versions of Veeam Plug-ins.” (System Requirements - Veeam Plug-ins for Enterprise Applications). The challange is in the term “major version”. To me, that would have meant the number before the decimal point. For example, 12 for 12.x, 11 for 11.x. As it turns out, this is not the case. The next sentence in the help center link above already invalidates
Hello guys, I wanted to create a topic on how migrate from MS SQL to PostgreSQL but I’m facing to an issue.I m following the procedure : https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/vbr_config_migrate_to_postgresql.html?ver=120At the “Target Database” step I choose “Database: PostgreSQL”Then I click to connect and I obtain the following message : For me I don’t have to create a database first, right? For me Veeam should proprose to create the database like this:Did someone else have try the migration process ?
Good dayHave anyone perhaps had this problem that I am experiencing now post upgrade to V12.1 and migrating DB to PostgreSQL 15.5-1.DB migration showed all tasks successful. When trying to open any job report it gives this error“invalid XML content” Thanks
Hopefully no one uses exFAT but if you do check out this KB referencing corrupted files that are possible.KB4233: exFAT Filesystem may corrupt Veeam backup files
I want to document all jobs.Is there a solution for this?First, how can these data be obtained, and secondly, is there a ready-made Excell template for this?I want to document all the jobs and if there is a solution that also documents the entire veeam backup structure, that would be great. Please provide any suggestions you have.
Hi everyone, I am planning to add new SOBR for existing environment (x2 Hyper-V host actually) connecting to the tape library with simple deployment scenario. While we plan to add a new HPE StoreOnce to the infrastructure, is it possible to install the gateway server on the host?Or should it be installed on the backup server?
I have a Vsan Cluster with 3 ESXi (25Gb Network) and a vm with Veeam 12 and a physical Windows Repository connected with 20 Gb20 VMs must be backup , 3TB ca I am planning how much proxy I need, I am not sure if the proxy installed in the VM where B&R is installed is enough or should I install an additional proxy per Esxi?
I’ve come across this twice now, and I’m curious if any of you have seen it. I have a relatively new client that we setup backups for with a copy job to run to a Wasabi bucket. I have set the repo for 30 days of immutability. I’m having issues with one of the VM’s being backed up and decided to just blow it away. Backups are fine, but the copy job has failed on this VM for a couple of months (the newest restore point is from the end of November) due to an odd error when Application Aware Processing is enabled. Since AAP isn’t really needed for this VM, my plan was to work around this error and move this VM to a separate backup and copy job where AAP is not enabled but moving to the new job failed. So I tried to delete the data, and that also failed. I get the error that the data is immutable until October. What am I missing here?
I have a newer client that I recently deployed VBR for that is managed by our Service Provider Console. At some point in time I stopped getting reports from VBR in the SPC. The Management Agent was talking to the SPC, but I was getting no information from VBR. After opening a case with support and uploading logs (kudo’s to the Veeam team for making it so easy to create cases and upload logs within the SPC), support noted the below error found in the logs. 2024-01-22 22:00:19.9095 [ERROR ] 5684 [__21] BackupServerDiscovery: Exception thrown in method CollectBackupServerFromWMISafe from BackupServerDiscovery Exception: System.Management.ManagementException: Access denied2024-01-22 22:00:19.9095 [ERROR ] 5684 [__21] BackupServerDiscovery: Exception thrown in method CollectBackupServerFromWMISafe from BackupServerDiscovery Exception: System.Management.ManagementException: Access denied Support listed two possible fixes, the first of which is making sure the Service Provider entry is set
Hi everyone,We’re using Veeam B&R 11 standard edition. We are a small museum with a large repository of information of digitised versions of the collections - essentially a file server with multiple disks. We had an issue whereby our largest server had to be reimported to VSphere and was picked up as a new VM by Veeam. I’m looking for options to minimise WAN usage to seed our offsite backups of the large VM.Can I copy a new full backup of VM to a second site, scan the second site repo and start a parallel backup strategy there? Essentially, the same full backup would be the first backup in two parallel backup trees. The backup source is a single VM of approximately 40TB, so I would rather not run a full backup across our VPN. I’m worried that Veeam will not like two repositories starting with the same data, if they ultimately diverge. Why would I not just run a copy job instead of backing up the same data twice? The two sites have vastly different retention strategies, one be
Hey guysWe’re doing some VeeamZIPs and directly restore VMs them to a backup-NAS which is added in Veeam via SMB. Since beginning of the year (or even before. The last restore was made on the 30th November 2023) we’re not able to do this operation anymore. We’re getting the following error message: “Restore job failed Error: Cannot complete file creation operation.” The logs show the following: [05.01.2024 11:16:02.757] <01> Error Restore job has been failed[05.01.2024 11:16:02.757] <01> Error Make datastore directory failed, datacenter ref = datacenter-2, directory name = "[backupnas] backup20240103-xxx" (System.Exception)[05.01.2024 11:16:02.757] <01> Error bei Veeam.Backup.ViSoap.CSoapConnection.CreateDatastoreDirectory(String datacenterRef, String dirName)[05.01.2024 11:16:02.757] <01> Error bei Veeam.Backup.ViSoap.CSoapDatastore25.CreateDirectory(CSoapDatastoreDirectory parent, String relativePath)[05.01.2024 11:16:02.757]
Are Folder exclusions in NAS file share backup jobs case sensitive?
So I am attempting to restore files from offsite backup copy to a ServerB at the offsite. From the VBR console I choose to guest files restore from the backup Copy. Then I entered \\ServerB\x$ as the target location. However the restore is happening over the WAN. Any ideas?

Hello,I'm posting for the first time. Here is my production configuration: Windows server 2019 on an Intel 10900KF platform in Raid 1.I create my image with Veeam Agent for windows (6.0.2.1090)on a USB HDD. everything works fineThen I want to remount my Veeam backup on a test server.Installation on a test server Intel 12100 platform in non-raid, Veeam B&R 12.1.0.21.31 installation, Hyper-v role installation. When I want to do an instant recovery of my Veeam backup, here's the error message :Failed to modify guest OS settingsA 'System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException' has been thrownhere's the screenshotThanks in advance for your help
Hey all, my company is using Veeam mostly for our medium-sized clients, but some of our smaller clients with only a few VM’s generally are using something else. A couple with old Datto Siris or Alto appliances, quite a few with Barracuda backup appliances, and even an Intronis client. Most of these clients are paying for more of a BaaS service on a monthly or yearly agreement, though I think a couple actually own their the Barracuda appliance that we sold them in the past. With that said, we’re pretty invested with Datto despite the Kaseya attachment, and they caught the ear of my boss about leasing out Datto Siris 4 appliances to replace all of those non-Veeam clients. That said, I’d rather move them over the the Service Provider side of things and get everything moved into the Veeam house. Here’s what I was thinking. We historically don’t like hosting customer data, and so somewhat in parallel with my developing a VB365 solution for our clients (as most are using Barracuda Cloud-to
Hello to allI removed the veeam B&R server from the domain, the enterprise manager server was also installed on the same server, and now I have this error in the enterprise manager.Thank you for your guidance.I also changed the iis settings but it didn't work
I’ve created a repository per the instructions from the documentation, but cannot select it for scheduled Configuration Backups. It’s displayed in the Repository list. Encryption, and immutability is enabled. Is there something else missing?
Hi, Our PKI cert has expired on our VCS server, and as a result the backups of the VMs are failing as Veeam can’t connect to the VCS. Its going to take us a few days to get another cert generated and installed on the VCS - but is there any workaround we can do in the meantime to get the Veeam Backup and Replication software to backup our VMs? I’m assuming not really - as that’s the point of certificates!Any suggestions most welcome.Thanks...
In B&R console I want to browse the contents of a Linux repository. I go to Files and expand the repository but a message appears “Access is denied.”The backup and replication jobs which are assigned to the repo work fine and I can rescan the repo so I know the stored credentials are working but I can’t browse the files. Is it a limitation of the Community edition?
There are two cores in the network. It is necessary to implement veeam availability in case of failure of one of them. The Windows cluster is not suitable. Because you cannot implement fault-tolerant shared storage.Option 1Two veeam servers, one is on, the other is off. If the master server fails, turn on the slave server and restore the necessary virtual machines. (it is unclear if the veeam subordinate server will see the backup storage)Option 2is mysql replication. There will be no copy jobs in the first veeam. It will only be used to restore virtual machines. What problems might arise? How can this be implemented in another way?
