Hello community,I’m working for a customer with a v12 using MS SQL and I have to install the latest v12.1 on a new VBR server with PostgreSQL.Reading the documentation, I see that “Veeam Backup & Replication supports configuration database migration between different database engines only within the same Veeam Backup & Replication version”.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/vbr_config_migrate.html?ver=120Can you confirm that I must install v12 on the new VBR server, migrate the configuration and then upgrade to v12.1?Is the migration scenario between same db engine still supported within the upgrade?Thanks

In a customer environment today we faced the issue that all HANA plugin backups all of a sudden stopped backing up:Session failed: Unable to process the workload: your license has been exceeded   In VBR’s license dialog I found the plugins to consume VUL licenses all of a sudden - which there are only the 6 complimentary ones. The plugins run on VMs already under socket licensing and that worked for years.Has anyone seen this already? How does VBR actually determine if the plugin resides on a VM? This process seems to be impaired here.Case is open. Support is digging through plugin logs. ThanksMichael

Hello,Since I’m going trough a lot of Veeam documentation in the past few days I found that I can always improve our Backups in some ways.At the moment we have each VM in separate Backup Job: They are all run in the similar time window: 21:00 and 22:00In some Veeam documentation I read that its better to group them together because of the simplicity and I/O resources used.Can somebody give me mote info about thatDescription:All of these VMs are from 3 different hosts. 1 VM is Linux based 13 VMs are Windows Server based 2016/2019 What are your recommendations on this The largest VMs are:VM Backup FS - 12 TB VM Backup SVFS1002 - 3 TB They are both on the same host

Hello,I’m planning to implement now Backup Copy Jobs over WAN Accelerators.Our Upload/Download speed is around 850Mbps on both locations That should be High Bandwidth mode as I already did some research.Now I would like to have some advices from you guys:We have 7 Backup Jobs with total of 20 VMs all combined I will connect Secondary Storage (Synology RS3621xs+) to a VM directly with Ethernet Cable via iSCSI. It will be formatted as ReFS (64KB)I have following questions:Is one to one WAN Accelerator enough or I should implement 2 Source WAN Acceleratros to 1 Target WAN Accelerator What are you’re best practices for scheduling the Backup Copy Job? I used Immediate Copying in last Backup config As I don’t need Global Cache for High Bandiwidth mode, can someone explain how WAN Accelerators are working with High Bandwidth mode Our Largest VM is 13TB, if that is something that can be helpful with advices.

Hello,I would like an suggestion on how to approach this scenario, I have some options in mind but I want to get some best practice if possible.Current situation is like this:Backup Jobs to our Main Site Backup Copy Jobs to our DR SiteNow I would like to start backups to our VHR.From suggestion in the my previous topics I will create a VM with VBR on Synology with underlying disk that it has. I will isolate it and restrict access that is only needed. Now I have question about Backups.What is the best way to configure this now?My toughs are since I already have backups on the DR Site from Main, I could configure Backup Copy Jobs and select objects from the Repo that is already on DR.How the connection is established then?I would guess that the VBR server will start Veeam Data Movers on the Repo from DR Site and on the VHR and that data will just transfer itself on the same site?VBR is located in another Branch Office via IPSEC so it would not be good if the data goes from DR SITE Repo &

Hello,I would need to configure immutable backups for our DR site. We have a Synology NAS which I would connect via iSCSI to the VM that will be LHR.As I’m gone trough some documentation on Veeam for VHR I can see that there is an .ISO and a script for this.Now the question is how would I approach this with adding iSCSi storage to it. I didn’t see a part where I can first do that then continue with VHR.

Hi, I am currently restoring a VM to a ESXi host (original host) and I am already on my 8th day of the restoration. Which is very very very slow. The VM has a size of 2TB and as of this writing the “statistics” shows that I have still 900+ GB left with the restoration rate at 2MB/s at 56% in progress state while the “log” shows “Restoring Hard disk 1 (2.0 TB): 188.6GB restored at 349KB/s [nbd] 157:xx:xx” This is a Full VM restoration job and the file is located on an External HDD. This is more of a Linux question, but it’s for use with Veeam, so thought I’d try posting here to see if anyone else ran into my issue & what was done to resolve it. I am having the darndest time getting a Volume from my storage array (Nimble) to partition correctly in Ubuntu 22.04 so I can use it as a Veeam Repository. Using fdisk to partition, it seems to work, but then I get the following error after ‘writing’ the task:fdisk errorI reboot, then go to attempt to install a filesystem on the partition, and get the following error:filesystem busyAnything I attempt to do with it, the OS says it’s busy. I’ve spent hrs internet-searching to no avail. About the only thing I believe it stems from is the multipath daemon somehow. Do people just have 1 HBA connected to their arrays for Repos?...surely not?Umm..help? 😂

what does this “full restore point + key” icon mean when I’m looking at my backup data?  All of my backups are marked for immutability at the performance tier.  But only some of my jobs have the little “key” on the icon.The “key” icon is not listed in the documentation, at least not that i can find.  I’ve looked at https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/restore_points_icons.html?zoom_highlight=icons  but the icon I see in my console isn’t listed 

Hello,I would like to check with you guys if this performance is solid.I first created everything with WAN Accelerators that are physical machines with SSD, one for source and one for target side but it caused some problems and its not so convenient for me.Now I configured everything with Direct mode and I would like to see if this is a solid performance or not.Our connection on both locations are 1Gbps, around 750-850 Mbps upload/download speed.So this is from Primary Office to Secondary Office via VPN, 2 different countries.I have 3 BCJ, 1 is for 2 biggest VMs, and others are smaller ones.So the biggest VM is now left, all of the others are done but the Processing Rate is not so much to be honest, no other processes are running in the background.  

I’m missing something simple here I thnk…all of my backups are unencrypted and I want to encrypt them, I set one to do that, stored the key in VEEAM and of course offsite too, but how do I know it’s working? I tried a guest file restore from that backup, picked a file, it restored fine, but nowhere did VEEAM asked me to provide the password..  I assume this is because it knows it, but that doesn’t make me feel comfortable with the process. I suppose the test could be to install backup & replication on another computer and try the restore from there? a bit of work though so I’m thinking there’s an easier way or am I worrying about nothing? 

Is there any indication of when the release date for Veeam Backup and Replication - v12.1 will be?

I am confused (not an unusual occurrence ...). I have a LTO-7 tape library, with 3 tape drives. Right now, I have 9 tape jobs listed as running (we ran out of tapes this weekend, so I just loaded more). But only 2 tape drives have tapes loaded and are writing, the 3rd is idle. And I’m not sure why … there are empty tapes in the pool for the jobs (all jobs use the same pool), as well as FREE tapes in the FREE pool.So why is my drive idle? I don’t see any option that seems to say “Use only 2 of the 3 drives in the library at any one time”. I must be missing something here, but I can’t figure out what. It’s not an option for the individual tape jobs, right? I have those set to use at most 2 drives. I assumed that meant just for that one tape job, not for all jobs that are executing. So why isn’t Veeam loading a tape in that 3rd drive, and starting to clear my backlog? What have I done wrong? Thanks.

Good morning, I have an issue on our testing environment where K10 discovers too many worker nodes in the cluster. Hi, sorry for the noob question, but when backing up VM’s on Hyper-V, what is the difference between backing up the VM’s via Virtual Infrastructure vs. backing up the disk the VM files are stored on via Physical Infrastructure?  Is it just on recovery, it’s easier to restore the VM’s directly vs. having to restore each of the VM files such as the vhdx files?Thanks!

Hi, I am testing Backup and Replication Community Edition and have a very simple test environment consisting of a single Windows Server 2022 with one boot SSD, two HDD’s and a third HDD which is my dedicated Backup Repository.  When I start the job, it take over an hour before it will begin to process/transfer data.  Is this normal or is stuck waiting for something before it can start the backup?  The server really has no load on it as it is a test machine (physical, not virtual).  Below is a screenshot: Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  Thank you!  

Hello,I would need some general advices in creating Backup Copy Jobs.Is it okay to choose every Backup Job and insert it in the Backup Copy Job, as I can see there is no option to create in which order they will perform etc.

Hello. We have a policy to export all tapes currently in a library that are marked FULL. And I have not found a way to do that - I don’t see any property that is returned that shows ONLINE or OFFLINE of a specific tape. Am I just missing it? Is there way to query for this, so I can send an alert email (as a scheduled task)? Or is there some other way to do it? (we don’t have a license fo

Hello, We are looking into moving a set of our VMs that are currently being backed up by Veeam behind a firewall for extra security. We are running the latest version of Veeam and have VUL. Will the VUL policy allow us to install a separate instance of Veeam B&R server behind this new firewall to backup the servers there? And will I need to divide the current license count according to my needs and apply to the new instance of Veeam B&R server? Thank you for your comments and ideas in advance.  

All our TDE encrypted DB(s) are in 'Simple Recovery' mode. Hence there's no 'Point-In-Time' recovery needed.We simply restore a DB from daily backups. Our VBR server is configured as our Veeam gateway server.We'd like to switch to Postgres to save $ on licensing.If you are currently doing this successfully then please let me know your VBR version & Postgres version.Thank You!Kevin

Hello everybody,I would like to know scenario with retention policy in this way. I don’t want to have Forever Forward Incremental backup method because as I saw it’s not recommended by Veeam also, if we do it without GFS.I would like to create Full backups (synthetic) every week.So I’m just a little bit confused how restore points will be available.If I have configured 7 restore points but in GFS I have option to store Full Backups for 2 weeks, how it will end up looking?I’m more curios how increments are going to be removed.
