Hi All,I was attending VUG Canada session today and asked question about forcing the backup traffic. It is good to discuss this question here as discussed in the session  When we have VMware proxy configured in the network mode, or any other proxy configured on the network mode,the traffic will be over ESXi Mgmt network. We will have issues in performance and data transfer if this mgmt uplink is less than 10gbps, in most cases it's configured as 1gbps which is not recommended for backup. The question is how can we force the backup traffic to go through good unlink like 10gbps and how can we separate the backup traffic from the production traffic  in the best practice way. Second question if we have agent backup, sure the traffic  will be over the network (I think also the mgmt,please correct me if I am wrong). How can we force the VMware Agent backup to ho over faster link like 10gbps or higher as well. Thank you and waiting for your informative replies 

Hello We used to use EMC Networker as a backup program, and I used to be able to run a command line script that would query for a list of tapes currently in the library, and report on any that were marked as “FULL”. I would send this an email to our tape operators, and they would eject any FULL tapes so they could be sent for offsite storage.Is there a way I could duplicate this functionality for Veeam? Perhaps run a Powershell script that queries the library and reports on the usage status of the tapes currently in the library? (and if so, has anyone got an example they could point me at? Or a different way of getting the same info for my tape operators?)Thanks

HiI am configuring a backup copy to S3 (immutable)   The type of copy is periodic so that it only stores a weekly backup in the cloud (one month retention)    My questions are: how does the S3 backup chain work? Same as locally?      First week will be a full, second backup copy will be incremental but... what happens when the first backup meets the retention? Veeam converts the oldest incremental to a full? I'm right?  Thanks 

Hi Team,I have a site that uses Wasabi object storage for both archiving and have “copy backups to object storage as soon as they are created” checked in the SOBR. This has been ticking away for some months now doing what I’d expect it to be doing. Now I need to test a full scale recovery from this environment, assuming we have a total loss of all on premises infrastructure, including the VBR server. I have spun up a new VM in our DR environment and installed VBR. My next step was to connect to the object storage bucket and attempt to recover VMs from this. But when I attempt to connect I get a warning “Selected object storage repository is already managed by another backup server. If you continue, all jobs currently using this repository will fail. Proceed?” I don't want the current jobs to fail, as this is only a test. Can I still connect to this repository and only read the objects without modifying it? Or can it be mounted in read only? Or is there another way I should be doing thi

Hello,I would like to use veeamone with more than just install it and connect backup and virtualisation infrastructure.Do you have some good ressources to link or share the use case you have on your customer or internally ?I already find some good report and solve the alert the product give by default but I think this product could be more usefull with more knowledge.I don t find a lot of ressource with google about it and the main feature I could implement Thanks for your help :)

Sia con le guide presenti sui siti stessi sia cercandone altre in rete. A tutte mi pare manchi sempre qualcosa e alla fine non parte nulla.Qualcuno ha fatto una installazione del genere e… conosce un how to 4 dummies? 😊Grazie! 

Good morning everyone, I sweated on Friday in an attempt to install a mini Kubernetes environment on linux machines to have a mini lab where I could see K10 in action.I tried both Canonical's Microk8S: https://microk8s.io/and Minikube: https://minikube.sigs.k8s.io/docs/start/and failed miserably with both. Both with the guides on the sites themselves and by searching for others on the net. All of them always seem to be missing something and in the end nothing starts.Has anyone done such an installation and--does anyone know a how to 4 dummies? 😊Thanks!P.S.: I will soon try also this post from Geoff:

Hey everyone. I have problem with my Kasten with AD/LDAP auth method.When I use Kasten with the LDAP authentication method, a blank page returns when I route. However, I do not encounter such a problem with the token authentication method. When I try the same configurations in my second openshift environment, there is no problem. And there is no problem in my Dex container when I checked the logs. So in my Auth pod, I get the error "Fluentbit connection error, connection refused". I also get this error in my second Openshift environment that running LDAP, but at least the LDAP login screen appears. I checked my Dashboard URL many times and there is no problem with the URL. Why could it be? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello, I wanted to be sure that fast clone is enabled but I can’t see it anywhere.As I remember on v11 it was written in the “Action” description.I’m using Synology NAS connected directly via iSCSI to the Windows Server 2022.It’s formatted as ReFS (64KB).You can see that it was a Synthetic Full but FastClone nowhere to be seen.  

We need to take backup of Vmware VM to On-prem and Replicate to Azure. Also Need failover from on-prem to azure and then failback from azure to on-prem.How can we configure?

Hi, Possibly a question for @Federica or @haslund. As the VMCE & VMCA are yet to have their new exam & certification released, willl there be an extension to the expiry of the current VMCE & VMCAs?For example:I sat my VMCE 2021 in June 2021, my VMCE states it expires the 9th June 2023. Likewise I sat my VMCA in September 2021, and my VMCA states it expires the 1st September 2023. I’m conscious that this looks like it’s just an automation, but as we’re a VASP, and our ProPartner portal is showing this imminent expiry, that it could reflect badly on my organisation if my certifications have ‘expired’ even if there isn’t a replacement certification available. A second question on this, after the 2023 grade exams are available, how long will we have to upgrade before the certifications are counted as ‘expired’ within ProPartner? Thanks!

Hi,I recently decided to Install the community edition of Veeam Backup Replication on my home server.Each time the Install process seems to fail, then I’m met with the errors pictured below.I have installed it on my Gaming PC with no issues at all.I’ve scoured forums for countless hours and have found nothing that resolves this issue.Any help would be greatly appreciated. 

Hi, I would like to upgrade our cluster to 1.26. But getting following messages on aggregatedapis-svc: 1 warnings.go:70] snapshot.storage.k8s.io/v1beta1 VolumeSnapshot is deprecated; use snapshot.storage.k8s.io/v1 VolumeSnapshot Upgrade K10 to 6.0.12 with helm charts, but still getting this. Does K10 support 1.26? If so, what is going wrong here? Regards

Ok, I had a test server which I used to test out Windows Agent backups.I’ve now built a more robust server to handle veeam (community edition as we only have a few servers), when I try to backup the same server, I get:I’ve removed the backup jobs, and uninstalled the agent both using the old server and manually going into Add/Remove programs, yet the same problem exists. I’ve also added the registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication AgentDiscoveryIgnoreOwnership DWORD=1Still no joy.  When I go into the registry editor on the machine in question, I can see why Veeam is having a problem.  The values in BackupServerIPAddress, JobSettings, and VBRServerName are all pointing to the wrong server. I’m loathed to start deleting this key.  What do I do to ensure this server I wish to backup now has the correct agent installed?RegardsIan

HI Community, I am currently using Veaam v12 B&R community edition.I have tried to add a service provider for ekco.I have followed steps from https://www.ek.co/publications/using-veeam-cloud-connect/Once I add veeam.cloudhelix.io and the username and password I get the below error.Is the issue down to the fact I am on community edition V12 or is it an issue from ekco’s side?(I have already logged a ticket with ekco support to see what their response will be) 

My question is, if we are excluding SQL data volumes from the original backup job, can we still do full SQL backups and transaction logs using application-aware processing?For some background, in our current state my team is backing up our Windows SQL VMs using a Backup job, then use a Backup Copy job to get those offsite. Since the team has historically ran SQL Agent jobs to do daily full and hourly log backups for each DB they decided to exclude any volumes storing SQL data from the Veeam Backup job. I see the reasoning and I suppose this works, but I’d like to shift to including Veeam on SQL backups so we can easily get those offsite using the existing backup copy jobs.Finally, a sort of related question, if we can use Veeam and the SQL agent jobs in tandem, which one should truncate those? In my testing I’ve had to set the SQL Agent job to copy only mode for things to work, but I feel like setting Veeam to copy only mode should work as well, but I must be missing something since I

Hello to all,As I configure a testing Job with Multiple VMs with the same OS, I can see that there is no difference in the deduplication rate in Report when I run the VM itself alone or in the Group.One more point to ask:The VMs in the Backup Copy Job are all started at the same time when the job starts.Is this how it should be or they need to be run one at a time?

For a long time I have wanted to view the backups and see if they are actually being saved in the S3 bucket.Is there a way to see the differential of backups that I have in the mini?In the Kasten-io dashboard, is there a way to see what restore point exists to import it to the destination? Thanks in advance.

I’m very new to Veeam. We use VMware vSphere. I need to be able to backup an entire VM, and be able to restore just individual files from that backup. I thought that doing a “VMware Backup” type of job, with “Guest File Processing” enabled would allow me to do that (i.e., restore just one file from drive E:, as an example). But when I try “Restore Guest Files” on that VM, , I get “Unable to mount disk: unsupported disk type” when it goes to Browse. Have I totally misunderstood what type of backup job I need to be doing, to be able to do an individual file restore of a Windows VM? What type of backup do I need to be doing then, to accomplish what I need? This type of backup looks like I can only restore the entire VM, like a bare metal recovery. Which is good, and I might need that, but I definitely need to be able to restore individual files. Do I need to make a backup job of type “Windows Computer”? I won’t need to push the Agent, because the VM is always connected.Sorry for the newb

my goal isI use veeam to back up my vmware vm machine to a NAS, and then I back up the backup files from nas to aws s3. Then I can directly read the files from s3 and restore the vm machine in aws.But I am currently encountering a problem. The backup from veeam to nas and then from nas to aws s3 goes smoothly, but my veeam cannot read the files backed up by nas in aws s3. Please tell me how to set it correctly.
