I have 6 months of daily restore points, a monthly VBK and daily VIBs for each month. I have the backup job configured to keep 180 days of backups. However, when I do an FLR, it only displays from 11/1/23 forward, just 60 restore points. I feel like the repository needs to be rescanned but I can't see how to do that. (I use Veeam B&R for our corporate backup system, so I am familiar with this, but I don't see how to do it in the free version). I also tried right-clicking the actual VBK or VIB I want to use and then "Open", but it just opens the FLR window, showing only the last 60 restore points.This behavior exists on multiple PCs where I use Veeam Agent for Windows.  This product isn’t much use if I can’t restore my data.I opened a case (#07068715) over a week ago and it was auto-closed because no one was available to look at it.Does anyone know how I can access my restore points? Good day,I have been enthusiastically using "Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows" for some time.Now I have the problem that when I have activated my new Premium VPN from https://hide.me "Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows FREE" unfortunately aborts with an error message when creating a backup!What exactly do I have to set or allow in the VPN app so that the backup still work with VPN enabled?My system data & backup-media:-Windows 11 Pro 23H2-Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 6.1.0.349 - Free Edition-Backup-medium: External 2.5-inch hard disk Many thanks for any helpful answers! 

In primul rand salut si La multi ani! Avem un mediu de Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 exclusiv pentru backup de Exchange. Repository-urile au retentie de 32 de zile. Dupa cum stiti, cand ruleaza retentia nu se elibereaza de pe disc spatiul alocat deja pentru repository. Astfel, dupa ce trec 32 de zile din 2024, folderul “2023” de pe discul repository ar trebui sa nu mai contina date deloc, dar va continua sa ocupe pe disc spatiul alocat la momentul actual. Intrebarea mea este cum pot elibera de pe disc spatiul acela, alocat deja pentru 2023? Stiu ca pot face shrink la repository.adb dar am nevoie temporar de spatiu liber pe disc inca odata cat repository-ul, plus ca trebuie sa fac asta cu serviciile de Veeam oprite (adica backup-ul nu va rula in acel timp). Din experientele anterioare, dureaza undeva la 60 de ore. Pot sterge folderul “2023” din repository dupa 32 de zile? Sunt alte variante?  Multumesc, Dragos

Hey there. I use Community edition for my home lab and photo archive backup proposals. VBR is installed on my PC, it was added to Veeam as a File Server, some folders were added to the job, and everything was fine until I added these folders to sync with my Nextcloud (real files are always on device).Now I faced this error:08.01.2024 22:43:43 :: Unable to backup \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy12\Pict\Filmscan. Incorrect function.Failed to read data from the file [\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy12\Pict\Filmscan].There are job logs from C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup.Does anybody knows, how to resolve it?

I was thinking of using a bare metal restore into a VM and have actually made it work, but what I wasnt able to do successfully was resize/shrink the disks in the process. The physical server has lots of wasted space which I would like to avoid in the VM. Is it possible to accomplish a “disk shrink” using a bare metal restore?

Hola, tengo un job que hace bakup de solo de bases de datos de un servidor, lo configure para que lo haga con una retencion de 3 dias, osea solo necesito 3 dias de bakpPero de alguna forma hace mas copias de las que tiene confoigurada, en este caso llego a 6 copias. porque hace esto?  Como se puede arreglar o es normal que lo haga? Me pasa en los 3 jobs. que tengo. hace mas copias de las que les configuro. Muchas Gracias!!

Does K10 cluster-scoped resource backup include IngressClasses? Tried searching for an answer to this question but no dice.The reason is because our company re-installed an on-premises Rancher RKE2 cluster from scratch as part of a DR drill using Kasten K10 for data and application recovery. The recovery process was mostly smooth with a few minor gotchas but in particular, it seems that the cluster-scoped resource capture skipped the existing GitLab NGINX IngressClass despite having no resource filters applied - after restoring both cluster-scoped resources and our GitLab Chart, the IngressClass installed as part of the chart was missing causing the GitLab ingress controller to return NGINX 404 errors, which was solved with a manual Helm upgrade reusing the existing chart version and values.While this is a minor issue with a relatively simple workaround, we’d like to know whether K10 includes IngressClasses in its cluster-scoped resource backup by default, and if not, is there a way to

In my environment, all of my switches and all of my virtualization hosts support jumbo frames. as well as the Data Domain that is my storage infrastructure.  However, my VBR environment - 3VMs (the VBR server, 1 proxy, and 1 managed server used to mount restores) and the physical server that attaches to the tape library are not currently set to use jumbo frames. I am wondering if setting them to use jumbo frames would help, improve performance, reduce bottlenecks?I can’t imagine that it would hurt, right?Anyone using jumbo frames? What is your experience?

Hello,I want to recover one computer account password from Veeam B&R credentials, I followed the KB4349 article, but I was unable to locate the DATA key under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication to view the EncyptionSalt value. I didn’t found any article or guide for such case, can anyone guide me how to find the EncryptionSalt value if it is not available in registry?

Hello,if I understand it correctly, in Veeam 12 the backup health check is performed independently from the backup copy job.In my case that leads to a problem because the backup repository which is the target for the backup copy job is only switched on for the backup (powering on and powering off is done by job scripts in the backup copy job).Is there any solution for this?In my opinion there are several ways that would lead to a solution:Starting health check immediately after the backup before the after job script. But that could not be configured any more or I didn’t find it. Adding the functionality to execute scripts before and after the health check. Starting health check manually from the command line. Then I could execute a script which starts the repository, performs the health check and power off again. I found powershell commands to perform a backup health check, but that doesn’t work anymore. Hello - total newbie here,I installed CE 12.1.0.2131 on Windows 10 Pro (desktop computer type) I wanted to try creating a simple backup job to see how it works. I intend to chose just a single folder of files to be backed up. I am in Home > Backup Job > New Agent Backup Job > Tab = “Objects”I checked the box for “The following file system objects:” It displays a windows form with a single line text box, I do not see any buttons to open a file picker dialog box to be able to select just the single folder I want to backup.I see a similar constraint when I click “Next” to go to the tab labeled “Local Storage”. There is just a text box on a form and no file picker dialogs. I need to type the full path to the storage location where I want the backup to be written to. Is this intended behavior to not be able to use a file picker dialog box? Is this a limitation of the Community Edition? Thank you.

Hi, We’re going to upgrade our vCenter to 8.0U1 and the process as far as we can tell involves creating a new vCenter with the same IP but different hostname (i.e. I can’t find an upgrade process that retains the same name for the vCenter). Just wondering what the impact of that name change would be to our existing Veeam backup jobs if they are all set to contact the vCenter on the old name. I’ve tried searching the community for “VCSA name change” and “vCenter name change” but have come up empty. Has no one else found this to be a problem? Or did we miss something and there is a way to retain the old vCenter hostname?

Hi, I am new to Veeam Backup.  On a Dell PowerEdge R7515 running Windows 2022 Standard, I have a 67 terabyte REFS volume where I store Veeam backups under a folder called “vault” (see screenshot below).  In Windows Explorer, when I check the size of the “vault” folder (by right-clicking on the folder name and going to Properties) it says the “Size on disk” is more than 67.6 terabytes (see below).  This folder contains one .vbm file and a few .vbk and .vib files.  However, when I check the properties of the physical disk volume under Disk Management utility (diskmgmt.msc), it says that I still have about 31.9 terabytes left on disk meaning that ONLY about 35 terabytes of data is used with about 48% free (see below).  Also, I do not have data duplication role installed on this server. Could someone shed some light on this extremely large discrepancy between disk volume size and folder size?  Thank you! Content of “vault folder”: Disk Management says:   

Hello,I’m a new Veeam Agent for Windows user and so far I loved it, just used it to backup and restore my system, went like a breeze!So I set up weekly system drive backups and what I noticed is that the first backup was full, and the 2nd backup is incremental.Can I set up the backup task so it will take weekly FULL backups and keep the last 2 full backups, deleting older ones?

Hi, built a new home server just in time to test the new 12.1 Community Edition.  Everything seems to work fine except I can’t seem to create a usb recovery stick.  When I click on Recovery Media, I get an error message that says “Cannot find backup file for <Server Name>”. I’ve created a backup on this server and it finished successfully.  Anyone else run into this issue?Thanks!

Hi, I'm a new user trying the Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition v12.1 for the first time. I’ve installed Veeam on a Windows 10 computer, and was able to make a backup of all the drives from a client computer also running Windows 10. But when I tried to restore a file from the backup, I got the error message shown below. I am initiating the restore via the Veeam console running on the same computer as the Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition. Restore failed Error: Neither Installer service nor Admin$ file share are available Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Hello Everyone,If the backup at SP is deleted, it should go to recycle bin, however restoration options is to restore it backup or copy it to removable disk to the tenent without meta data. how could copy it to removable disk and restore it without meta data?

So I have an issue. We backup to disk (a Data Domain, in our case), and from there, copy to tape. So I have 2 jobs - a backup job that writes to the DD, and a tape job (set as secondary target). Backup job is set to make an active full once a week (usually on a Friday), and the other days are incrementals. Pretty standard so far.My issue: on the weekend, we ran out of blank tapes in the library. I had to cancel the running tape job (which was trying to write out the Friday FULL backup). I got some new blanks, and loaded them. But the Monday tape job went to write out the (missed) Friday FULL backup, instead of just doing the Monday incremental. The FULL job is like 4 TB, no way it will finish in time before the next night’s incremental backup will start up. I had to change the scheduled start to “Not scheduled”, just so it would have enough time to finish (else it would have been interrupted by that evening’s incremental job). HelloFor testing Inmutable backups using ubunto server LTS 22.04.3 followingPart 1 - Build an immutable backup repository for Veeam Backup & Replication. | Experts Exchange (experts-exchange.com)Great expirience and working very fine on some spare PCs i had lying around.(doing bare Metal recoverys and testing different storage medias from internal HDD to usb 3.x to iscsi)  Now i tryed to replicate it on a Rasbery Pie 4 but when i try to add it as a Hardened respository  in Veeam i get:Only x86_64 (64 bit) Linux servers are suportend. lscpu shows 32bit, 64 bit and i used a 64 bit LTS version. Now im not the firmest on Linux so mayhaps im overlooking something trivial. Anyone got an idia? Sascha Wagner
