our company is the Veeam partner company, hence we deployed the veeam backup and replication software, in there having tape library issue, therefore I have raised the case, but i can’t connect to support team directly.so, please provide any contact number or else other way to connect technical support team ?

Hallo zusammen,  ich habe mich entschieden meinen Kunden zukünftig Backup als Managed Service anzubieten. Leider aber habe ich derzeit noch ein paar Verständnisfragen. Aber erst noch einmal zum Design bzw. gegenwärtigen zustand: Ich habe Kunden in einer Größenordnung zwischen 1 - 50 Mitarbeitern. Beinahe alle haben keine Virtualisierung oder Serverinfrastruktur. Bedeutet sie nutzen reine Cloudlösungen wie z.B. M365 und Lokal eben Speicherlösungen wie NAS oder SAN Systeme.  Eine meiner Fragen wäre jetzt, wie könnte man es handhaben Veeam Backup & Replication auszurollen als lokale instanz bei Kunden wenn kein Server vorhanden ist? Wäre auch eine installation auf einem produktiv Notebook denkbar, das ggf. nicht immer an wäre? Bei größeren Kunden bekomme ich bestimmt auch einen Server platziert aber bei einem 3-5 Personen Unternehmen wird das schwierig… Wie sieht es auf der Gegenseite mit der V Service Provider Console aus? Hello guys, I’m trying to setup a new Veeam installation with a remote MS SQL 2022 server. I already did it in the past with another version of Veeam but this time I’m facing an issue.The Database server is in another VLAN, rules are ok on the firewall. On the DB server, I disabled for the moment the Windows Firewall.In the SQL Server Network Configuration I set TCP/IP like this: But during the Veeam installation I got the following error:My service account for the installation is local administrator of the Veeam Server and has sysadmin permission on the SQL Server.Any idea? 😄 I’m not an expert with MS SQL so I have maybe miss something.​​​​​​​

Just wondering if there is any official information on Veeam Update 12.1.2 out yet? What might be coming with it, improvements to SOSAPI? I have heard rumors but wanted to know if I had missed any official news.Thanks

Got a weird situation I’m not sure of the right approach.  This setup is new to me and has some issues which I fully acknowledge and will be seeking to rectify. I have a restore request to recover the server VM that Veeam B&R is installed on.  It’s a shared application server running on Hyper-V and one of the other applications has become corrupted and the system will have to be rolled back. My plan was to take a configuration backup of Veeam so I could recover Veeam to the current state after the server itself has been rolled back.  The repository is on separate storage so won’t be overwritten by the restore. What I can’t quite figure out is whether or not Veeam is going to be able to instigate a restoration of the machine the B&R server itself is actually running on.  Can it do that or will I have to install a second copy of Veeam on another server and import the backup before restoring it? 

I need to understand Veeam Backup Proxy servers better. I have two sites.  They are in different cities, but connected via a P2P, so on the same network.   Site one holds my Veeam Backup server, ESX hosts, VMs, primary storage, etc.   Site two contains one ESX server and a very few VMs, (one DC, file server, DHCP) and some storage. At site one, all of my backups are scheduled to run and store locally.  Then, from site one, backup copies are moved across the P2P to site 2 for "off-site" backup.  This works well.   The VMs at site 2 are set to backup to local storage at site 2, but the backup runs and was built from site 1. BUT, at site 2, I have a Veeam B&R server as well and it's listed as my proxy server.  It's not doing anything.  It handles no backups and basically just sits there. So, clearly, I don't understand WHAT a backup proxy is for or how to use it. Can someone explain it to me like I'm a three year old and maybe draw some pictures? Thanks

Hello, I was tasked to research for B&R solutions for our on-prem k8s product.We are using rook-ceph and we want mainly to be able to back up volume snapshots to somewhere external (let’s say S3 bucket) including their contents (not only the k8s resource).As part of the research, I saw that in Velero, in order to copy the volumeSnapshot contents, a pod needs to attach to a cloned PVC with root permissions and possible with ‘privilged: true’. As this is a security concern, I was wondering if in Kasten the situation is the same. I couldn’t find in the docs information about this.Regards,Itay

I’m prepared to be labeled a “noob” here but I’ve been unable to locate any documentation on what this message actually means in plain language.I have a VM that I’d like to do a test restore on. Walking through the wizard everything makes sense (restore to a different location, disconnect network, etc.) until the final step.The following existing objects will be deleted from the infrastructure.What is this (to my thinking) unclear message trying to communicate? I do not wish for my VM, its virtual disks, or its backup history to be affected in any way, I’m simply trying to restore a second test copy. Thanks in advance.

Hallo zusamnmen, ich nutze Veeam schon etwas länger und möchte nun wieder einmal eine neue Umgebung aufbauen.Wir haben Veeam B&R, eine QNAP Rackstation, eine Synologys DS723 und WASABI Cloudspeicher. Bei anderen Setups hatte ich immer nur 1 NAS.Dort habe ich es immer über Scale out Repository gemacht. Nun möchte ich es im Endeffekt so haben, das eine NAS als iSCSI angebunden wird und dann eine Kopie in die Cloud und auf die andere Nas (räumlich getrennt) geht.Welche NAS als iSCSI und welche als remote, lasse ich mal offen.Wie würdet ihr das ganze am besten Aufsetzen? Liebe Grüße :)

Qualcuno ha già avuto contatti con il nuovo hypervisor?Io per ora più che vedere come si installa il plugin non ho fatto (https://blog.tinivelli.com/veeam-support-for-oracle-linux-virtualization-and-ovirt-3847c26e16be)e mi sto domandando anche se/come si possa allestire una piccola infra Oracle nel lab.Sicuramente in questo momento per noi “veemers” serve prendere confidenza anche con altri hypervisor. Però senza “mettere le mani in pasta” prima in un ambiente di test è complesso essere di aiuto ai clienti.

Is it possible to site DRO on the same server as Enterprise Manager? I’m looking to use a Linux server (possibly physical server) as a mount point for a Hardened Repository and also back it up with the Veeam Agent for Linux. Would it also be possible to use the same Linux server as a Veeam backup proxy?

Hi, not a long ago, we migrated most of our workloads to Azure. We have most of our servers in Azure and also we have some servers in our DC (on-prem). We currently use Veeam backup for Azure to backup servers in Azure and Veeam backup & replication ver 12 to backup our on-prem servers (with local backup repositories). One of our critical servers is having some issues as users keep disconnecting since we have migrated this server to Azure. After investigating for a few weeks, we are looking to bring this server back to on-prem to resolve the issue as its currently affecting our critical business operation. Here is what we have planned and need your advice on how can we achieve this:Stage 1 – Create a new storage account in Azure for the purposes of backing up this server. Stage 2 – Connect the on-premises Veeam backup server to the new storage account created in stage 1 (as an external repo or object repository). Stage 3 – Backup the server to the newly created storage account in A

ciao, ho un cliente che ha un Enterprise Manager che funziona (dopo un intervento del supporto 😉) però è rimasto un problema.Ci sono delle utenze che sono state definite restore operator solo per i server SQL.Purtroppo vedono solo un paio di SQL Server (Microsoft) su tanti che ci sono.Una mia ipotesi è che non essendo applicato praticamente da nessuna parte il “guest processing” (ovvero sono tutti backup crash consistent, sì lo so, sto insistendo anche io per attivarlo) il sistema non si “accorge” che ad es il server ARCIAO01 è un SQL Server e quindi non lo propone al restore operator che più agire solo sugli sql.Che ne pensate? Avete visto situazioni analoghe?Grazie 

I have been digging deeper in to the VONE console especially the Threat Center Dashboard lately and the following graph that shows 0% indicates to check the Reports > Backup Compliance category -- does anyone know the specific report(s) for this that uses it?The other options on the Threat Center Dashboard name a specific report to run for the % showing but this one just gives a category.  I am interested to see what report shows the details for this one and being able to remediate it.Data Protection Status - VONE Dashboard - Threat Center

Es geht um Backup from Storage Snapshots und Storage Plugins (hier beispielhaft das Pure-Plugin in einer vSphere-Umgebung). Ich verstehe es bisher so, dass die Job-Option “Backup from Storage Snapshots” die Lebensdauer eines bsp. vSphere-Snapshots verringert und einen Snapshot auf dem darunterliegenden Storage-System bzw. der entsprechenden LUN erzeugt, von dem aus dann Daten gezogen werden. Voraussetzung ist natürlich die Integration und Präsentation der LUNs vom Storage an den Veeam Proxy.Frage: Wie wird der Storage-Snapshot in diesem Fall getriggert? Über irgendeine vSphere- oder Storage-API? Das Storage Plugin (bsp. Pure-Plugin) dient dann dazu, sich mit dem Storage-System zu verbinden und damit dann Snapshots auf dem Storage-System zu erzeugen und über Veeam zu verwalten / zu schedulen. Good day. I’m setting up a new Veeam 12.1 on-prem environment. Currently the Veeam B&R server is not domain-joined. We are working on a separate management domain, but it’s not yet ready. And, I don’t think it should matter as a workgroup setup is a recommended best practice.I’m attempting to add an SMB file share from a domain-joined Windows 2019 file server to Veeam, but it’s not able to access the file server share.For instance, the file server is “fileserver01” and the share is “P$”. I can navigate to it from my desktop or a domain server using “\\fileserver01.domain.com\p$”. I have tried using my domain credentials as well as the local file server administrator account (fileserver01\administrator), but Veeam cannot access that file share.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hallo zusammen, ich bin stark im Mittelstand tätig und arbeite dort als Primärrepository mit Windows Servern auf Local Disk Targets, sprich: HPE, Dell oder sonstiger Server mit lokalen Platten. Erfahrungsgemäß reicht für den normalen Mittelständler ohne besondere SAP HANA oder sonstige Sonderconfig eine RAID60 auf Basis von SAS HDDs (ist natürlich je nach Kunde individuell).Hinsichtlich der Performance - gerade lesend - verwende ich gerne RAID6 (bei sehr kleinen Kunden), bevorzugt RAID60 mit 12 Platten.Wichtig ist mir die die Full Stripe Size von 1MB für das RAID und eine Stripe Size von 128k oder 256k gemäß Veeam Best Practice. Darüber liegt dann i.d.R. ein ReFS mit 64k im Windows. Ist das soweit noch aktuell und empfohlen? Ich setze natürlich entsprechende SAN-Anbindung und eine saubere Config in Veeam und im Storage (Bereitstellung der LUNs an den Proxy etc.) voraus. Hat irgendjemand hier Erfahrungswerte, ab wann sich das Ganze mit SSDs lohnt, ggf. sogar Benchmarks o.ä.? Freue mich
