VSPC Usage Report - v2!

I’ve performed a bit of an overhaul on the script I wrote last year. Originally, the script mainly existed in order to give some basic inventory and consumption information. Now, I daresay it is nearly a full-blown consumption report! Changes/enhancements include: - Collecting Insider Protection usage metrics - For customers on SOBRs, separating performance vs. capacity usage - Collecting M365 consumption information - Collecting license consumption information (local VBR, VB365, and cloud connect) - Write to XLSX with pre-generated tables now instead of CSV - Split the data into multiple tabs (License, BaaS, DRaaS, M365, No Information) - Collect from multiple VSPC servers For companies without any billing integrations with VSPC, this makes it relatively easy to compile consumption reports for your billing department each month. When it rains it pours so usually during these times a restore is suddenly our top priority. Would be good if our backup server could communicate with the proxies and the virtual infrastructure huh? Tough luck… What can we do to make our backup infrastructure more independent? On both Windows and Linux systems exists a hosts file which is read before the system resolves the DNS server. On Linux this is located in /etc/hosts, on Windows easily accessible via c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts As a bonus: With this you are able to control your network flow. Scripting Help - Removing Offline Tape Backups

We are attempting to script a way to remove offline Tape backups from Veeam so that they can be reused without error. Can someone please help us with the correct cmdlet and syntax to search for all offline tapes and remove them from catalog? I have attached the script we are working with. Event-Driven Backup, starting with the Incident API

100% of all Veeam customers have prescriptive Backup Jobs to protect their mission critical workloads. This is done by creating a backup job, adding your resources and selecting a target, schedule and retention setting for this backup job. These jobs run and hopefully the recovery point objective is met with this schedule. This is not strictly 100% true as some people are likely using vSphere tags to dynamically protect workloads as well… We find the same labels and tags in cloud-based workloads. The world is more dynamic so we should make sure if there is a smoke signal of something bad happening then we should trigger a backup just in case. Using Terraform + Ansible to build an automated home lab Veeam environment

Hey Everyone, I had a few queries the last few weeks about the VeeamLab terraform code that has not been updated for 3-4 years… it made me jump in and start something again but this time I wanted to take what @Chris.Arceneaux had built with the Ansible Playbooks and that he posted the other week and combine that with some Terraform code. This is not finished and only applicable right now for vSphere environments but there is a plan and hopefully over the next few weeks and months we can get some of these complete for AWS and Microsoft Azure as well. Create a new Port ID for all the replicated VMs

Hi all, my environment is VMware vSphere with 2 clusters managed by a single vCenter Server using Distributed Virtual Switch. Cluster 1 Production Cluster 2 DR All VM are replicated from Cluster 1 to Cluster 2, the problem is all VMs int the destination, have the same Port ID associated to the Port Group of the source. This is a problem, because vSphere expect different values. When I try a migrate of a replica VM, I cannot do that, I obtain the error message: “A general system error occurred: vDS host error: see faultCause Cannot create DVPort 5021 of VDS dvSwitch0 on the host xyz” I need to create new Port ID for every VM replicated or find a solution to fix this default behavior. Please help me! Best regards.

Veeam M365 & Ansible

I need some help. I am trying to automate my Employee Offboarding using ansible by creating a backup job that will do a final backup of the user’s mailbox, archive, teams, teams chat and personal site. Then restore it to an offsite File Share for long term storage. I’m using the REST API and I can query my Veeam server for Org ID, Repository ID, etc. However, I can not create a job. I think it is because I can list the user ID in the task. Is the User ID based off of the Azure ID? Would I need a separate task that queries my O365 Instance and retrieves that?

Using Ansible, is it possible to automate DB2ConfigTool --wizard?

Hello Veeam, My organization will be replacing Rubrik with Veeam to backup over 128+ production standalone DB2 database instances using Veeam Plugin for IBM DB2.Each of these database instances has a COLD DR site associated with it. We are running DB2 V11.5 Standard Edition on Linux RH. I’m trying to automate the installation and configuration of Veeam Plugin using Ansible. I was able to automate the installation portion. However, I’m looking for a way to automate the configuration piece, running the DB2ConfigTool --wizard. I’m seeking your help, and I would appreciate your input. Thank you

I want to keep last 2 full backups made by Veeam Agent for Windows

Hello, I’m a new Veeam Agent for Windows user and so far I loved it, just used it to backup and restore my system, went like a breeze! So I set up weekly system drive backups and what I noticed is that the first backup was full, and the 2nd backup is incremental. Can I set up the backup task so it will take weekly FULL backups and keep the last 2 full backups, deleting older ones?

How to automate Veeam Backup and Replication Global Exclusion Lists

In Veeam Backup and Replication Version 12 a global VM exclusion list was introduced. VMs added to this list are excluded from processing in all jobs. Up to now the only way to get VMs into or out of this list was via the GUI. In V12 you get there with “Hamburger menu” on the upper left corner --> VM Exclusions Then this dialog appears, and you can administer the global exclusion list via the GUI With the coming version 12.1 there will be some changes. First will there be an additional exclusion list. You have one “Global VM Exclusions” list and one “Global Malware Exclusions” list. You get there with “Hamburger menu” on the upper left corner --> Global Exclusions --> select one of the two exclusions lists. Then this dialog appears (it looks the same for both exclusions lists except the window title), and you can administer the global exclusion lists via the GUI The second new feature is that you can administer both exclusions lists via PowerShell commands.
