This is more of a Linux question, but it’s for use with Veeam, so thought I’d try posting here to see if anyone else ran into my issue & what was done to resolve it. I am having the darndest time getting a Volume from my storage array (Nimble) to partition correctly in Ubuntu 22.04 so I can use it as a Veeam Repository. Using fdisk to partition, it seems to work, but then I get the following error after ‘writing’ the task:fdisk errorI reboot, then go to attempt to install a filesystem on the partition, and get the following error:filesystem busyAnything I attempt to do with it, the OS says it’s busy. I’ve spent hrs internet-searching to no avail. About the only thing I believe it stems from is the multipath daemon somehow. Do people just have 1 HBA connected to their arrays for Repos?...surely not?Umm..help? 😂

Going through the motions of upgrading our Nutanix AHV to V5.  The Nutanix clusters are already done, attempting to upgrade the AHV portion.  Downloaded the latest version yesterday,  installed without issue.  Veeam is reporting that the Nutanix AHV Proxies need to be upgraded (as expected) but when we try and upgrade, the upgrade is trying to pass off an incorrect user ID (ROOT) to the Proxies which of course isn’t valid and the upgrade process errors out with an Incorrect Username/PW.  Ticket has already been opened but support is taking a little too long to respond with a fix.Any ideas?

what does this “full restore point + key” icon mean when I’m looking at my backup data?  All of my backups are marked for immutability at the performance tier.  But only some of my jobs have the little “key” on the icon.The “key” icon is not listed in the documentation, at least not that i can find.  I’ve looked at https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/restore_points_icons.html?zoom_highlight=icons  but the icon I see in my console isn’t listed 

Hello,I would like to check with you guys if this performance is solid.I first created everything with WAN Accelerators that are physical machines with SSD, one for source and one for target side but it caused some problems and its not so convenient for me.Now I configured everything with Direct mode and I would like to see if this is a solid performance or not.Our connection on both locations are 1Gbps, around 750-850 Mbps upload/download speed.So this is from Primary Office to Secondary Office via VPN, 2 different countries.I have 3 BCJ, 1 is for 2 biggest VMs, and others are smaller ones.So the biggest VM is now left, all of the others are done but the Processing Rate is not so much to be honest, no other processes are running in the background.  

Heres the scenario:I have VBR server A with a SOBR that backs up to a local hardened Linux server,  then that offloads to AWS in region us-west1 (also immutable) .  I back up serverX to the SOBR. AndI have VBR server B that has configured an AWS repository in eu-central1 (also immutable) Can I copy the contents of the AWS bucket used by the SOBR between these regions (strictly in AWS, not using Veeam)  then import the copied object storage/jobs for serverX on VBR B and be able to restore from it?I know about the backup verification tool, but that can't be used for object storage.

Hi community, if you are using Dell Data Domain and you are planning to upgrade to v12.1, be careful and read well the documentation, especially release notes (https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_12_1_release_notes_rn.pdf): Dell Data Domain: the supported operating system version is 7.3 to 7.12. Upgrade to it, or thebackup jobs pointed to this repository will fail to start. As @foggy explained to me in the R&D forum, “earlier versions are already End Of Support from the Dell side and 7.3 is required for Retention Lock support from the API perspective“ Enjoy! 💚

I’m missing something simple here I thnk…all of my backups are unencrypted and I want to encrypt them, I set one to do that, stored the key in VEEAM and of course offsite too, but how do I know it’s working? I tried a guest file restore from that backup, picked a file, it restored fine, but nowhere did VEEAM asked me to provide the password..  I assume this is because it knows it, but that doesn’t make me feel comfortable with the process. I suppose the test could be to install backup & replication on another computer and try the restore from there? a bit of work though so I’m thinking there’s an easier way or am I worrying about nothing? 

Is there any indication of when the release date for Veeam Backup and Replication - v12.1 will be?

12.1 is now GA! Hello,I would like to know why are there so many differences in performance of BCJ?This is all in one BCJ.Result of already finished one: Results of currently running one:  

I am confused (not an unusual occurrence ...). I have a LTO-7 tape library, with 3 tape drives. Right now, I have 9 tape jobs listed as running (we ran out of tapes this weekend, so I just loaded more). But only 2 tape drives have tapes loaded and are writing, the 3rd is idle. And I’m not sure why … there are empty tapes in the pool for the jobs (all jobs use the same pool), as well as FREE tapes in the FREE pool.So why is my drive idle? I don’t see any option that seems to say “Use only 2 of the 3 drives in the library at any one time”. I must be missing something here, but I can’t figure out what. It’s not an option for the individual tape jobs, right? I have those set to use at most 2 drives. I assumed that meant just for that one tape job, not for all jobs that are executing. So why isn’t Veeam loading a tape in that 3rd drive, and starting to clear my backlog? What have I done wrong? Thanks.

Another possible topic for a future VMCE study group 😃.We are not robots, although sometimes on a Monday morning I sure do to feel like one. I think that there are very few of us out there you can claim that our performance is always consistent. There are some people who I would term are forever 1 + 1 = 2. However, I know for a fact that I can be 1 + 1 =20 on a certain days, and before I quit drinking beer you could have stuck a random number generator in that equation for all my consistency was worth.We often hear about great athletes, artists and others talking about being in the “zone”. As I understand it this is a state where things are just flowing, complications become easy and performance is optimal. Whatever you want to call such a state we can probably all agree that there are times when we feel that we are getting the best out of ourselves and times when we are not. In other words there are situations when we are not performing to or even near our maximum capabilities. Hi everybody. I’ve put a small blogpost togethers about an issue I experienced last week with the all-in-one ISO to create a hardenened immutable repo. This ISO was GA’ed during VeeamOn during the session of @Rick Vanover@HannesK  and Christoph Meyer. (more info here ) It seems that the script is too eager to reinitialise all disks during the setup. Hi Everyone,This morning I went and took the V12 Exam. There were some huge non related hurdles involved but in the end all was good. To start with the night before I got some other news that kept me awake for most of the night. You know something not awful, not great but enough to… keep your brain working. Then you start to get annoyed as you know that you have to sleep for the exam BUT getting annoyed also keeps your brain alert. In the morning I was completely exhausted. To make matters worse Winter decided to show up and it was freezing. I decided to go to a testing center which now after the pandemic are all located way out in Polar bear land. The transit app lied about the bus arrival time and I froze, then the transit app lied again about the second bus. Then I arrived and the test center folks did not show up 15 minutes early anyways so I was left to wander in the vast waste lands of suburbia parking lots with a billion mile an hour wind attacking me.Finally I got in and sat do

Hi, sorry for the noob question, but when backing up VM’s on Hyper-V, what is the difference between backing up the VM’s via Virtual Infrastructure vs. backing up the disk the VM files are stored on via Physical Infrastructure?  Is it just on recovery, it’s easier to restore the VM’s directly vs. having to restore each of the VM files such as the vhdx files?Thanks!

Hi, I am testing Backup and Replication Community Edition and have a very simple test environment consisting of a single Windows Server 2022 with one boot SSD, two HDD’s and a third HDD which is my dedicated Backup Repository.  When I start the job, it take over an hour before it will begin to process/transfer data.  Is this normal or is stuck waiting for something before it can start the backup?  The server really has no load on it as it is a test machine (physical, not virtual).  Below is a screenshot: Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  Thank you!

Hello,I would need some general advices in creating Backup Copy Jobs.Is it okay to choose every Backup Job and insert it in the Backup Copy Job, as I can see there is no option to create in which order they will perform etc.
