Any gotchas/considerations you would like to share?

I have Kasten installed on Openshift. Infra nodes consume kasten license. Why is that? Can i prevent it? Can i see which nodes consume my license.

A few years ago we were a Service Provider with a Cloud Connect setup and offered our customers Cloud Connect Repositories. We then saw tjen object storage really started to take off it would be costly to maintain a datacenter with this service compared to the prices object storage was offered by the hyperscalators! We then started a partnership who ran Veeam Cloud Connect environemnt with service provider console. so we could still track and monitor our customers backupjob etc. but the backup now went to the object storages. I am just wondering, is it necessary to deploy a cloud connect environment at all to just use the service provider console for monitoring jobs, update the agents etc.? I can see in the marketplace (Azure) there is a dedicate appliance with the service provider console. Would that be enough to maintain our clients? We are now using Wasabi for repositories. I guess I am having a hard time to see what we would gain from the cloud connect environment these days? (Perh

Hi all,today I updated my Veeam Agents Free for Windows to the new version 6.x. I read about this version is no longer using SQL Express LocalDB and this is also written in the release notes. But looking in the installed software the SQL Express LocalDB is still installed.So I’m asking if SQL Express LocalDB is still needed for the Veeam Agent Free for Windows?Thank You and Kind Regeards

Hi everyone,So as you can see, I have a valid Veeam.com account and I have had it for several years now. But a few months ago, I was in the midst of some important task and logging into Veeam.com to download some software, when I was suddenly presented with a form to do… something. I can’t quite remember exactly what the purpose of it was, but Veeam wanted some additional information from me, for some reason. This included an email address, which was extra confusing since Veeam already had a valid email address for me on file. So I gave it junk data, including the email. After that though, I’m now presented with a form to verify said junk email, and I’m not allowed to access my account information until this has happened.I’m assuming I’m not the first person to have done this, since email@domain.com was already taken!At this point, I’m really just asking for forgiveness for my sin of entering junk data, in the hopes that I can have full access restored to my Veeam account. HiI m not sure i using the correct term in the topics, i understand in Veeam backup we can create additional proxy server to handle more backup workload. how about in K10? if the environment growing larger and we need more concurrent backup and handle more workload, how K10 approach? thank youkelvin koh

What are the positives of choosing Veeam over IBM for Backup and Recovery.

Hi all, I need support to find the correct way to merge 2 VEEAM Server into one.We have VEEAM A and VEEAM B, both with their data domain. for now these two servers are separate and we want to merge A and B to have only A.In my head we have to:Configure the DD of the VEEAM B on VEEAM A and rescan it. Configure a backup job with the VMs of the VEEAM B on the VEEAM A and, during the configuration, map the backup.if we take these steps are we OK or I’m missing something?Thank you.

We’re currently running Veeam Backup & Recovery and Veeam ONE v11.We’d like to upgrade to v12, is there a specific order we should use to perform the upgrade?ie. Veeam ONE first or Veeam B&R first ???

I have a very unstable wireless connection on an endpoint that likes to go down during periods of high use, or just whenever it feels like it. Addressing the connection issue remains its own task, but for the time being, it seems like the Veeam Agent (Agent for Microsoft Windows 5.0.3.4708) is very intolerant to any sort of network issues. When the connection inevitably goes down, the backup process will be cancelled with the error:Error: write: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Failed to backup file. I’ve looked through the backup settings, and I did see one section titled Backup Cache which apparently is supposed to cache the backup locally until Veeam can connect to the server. Despite having this option enabled, the Agent still throws its hands up at the first sign of network trouble.Hoping there is someone here who knows a magic trick to get the Agent to tolerate unstable connections, or can at least pass this along to the appropriate team.Thanks!

The workstation is in a Protection Group and Agent Version 5.0.3.4708 is installed.The workstation was added over the Active Directory and the AD shows Windows 10 Professional is installed.  I also logged into the workstation and yes indeed Windows 10 Professional is installed.  Windows 11 is blocked from installing in our Network using a GPO and the Workstation was not upgraded to Windows 11 and then reset back to Windows 10.Its been showing the warning since Tuesday.  Removing it from the Protection Group and re-adding it does not help.

Soy nuevo usando el Veeam. y estaba buscando información para hacer bkp incremental reverso. Tengo varios job, hechos, uno hace el bkp completo de todas las virtuales. este job si me muestra la opción para hacer bkp Reverse Incremental. Tengo otro job, que solo hace bkp de archivos (File lvl bkp (slower). este Job no me da opciones para hacer Reverse Incremental. Como puedo habilitarlo. o no se puede¿  Gracias!!  

I’ve randomly had two backups corrupt at one of my clients. Not sure why it happened, but they did. On one of them, I deleted from disk all of the restore points on the local datastore, and took a new full. I left the cloud data alone, and as we speak, the new restore points are peacefully transferring offsite, no issue. The second backup has been a different story… Because of the nature of the server, I decided to take a new full and leave the old data in place, just in case. The new full local backup was fine, but the offsite failed. I tried running an active full of the offsite, but same deal; the offsite failed. So now I am trying a new strategy. I took a look at the restore points and 99% were corrupted (I believe this was the offsites), so I decided to just wipe everything and start from scratch, because I think the corrupted restore points are causing issues with the new data going offsite. The offsite failures have been throwing an error I’ve never seen before. I’ll paste it be

K10 5.5.4 on K3s (stable). All K10 deployments running, all pods also running, all PVCs bound. I was able to create a policy and use it (snapshot, export). Then I deleted that policy. Now no matter what policy settings I choose, “Create policy” button is dimmed and can’t be clicked on to apply.I tried different options including the ones I had before (simple snapshot + export). I also tried creating a policy for different applications - no change, the button is always dimmed. How to troubleshoot this?

Team,Having a hard time trying to get physical server boot from the bootable media if Secure boot enabled. Docs says it is supported, but I can boot up from the media as soon as it is disabled. See the error below. Any suggestions?  Cheers,Alex

Hi!I am starting a small lab based on the following Veeam webinar: The steps to deploy the lab are here:https://github.com/MichaelCade/project_pace/blob/main/Zero%20to%20Hero%20-%20Kubernetes%20and%20Kasten%20K10.mdI deployed this single environment in Oracle Virtual Box VM and Ubuntu desktop.But I have being problems with pre-flight checks: Some components are in error state and trying to restart.The Kasten GUI is working, but it is presenting the error: Request failed with status code 500 (dashboardbff-svc).  I can create policies but it is not possible to apply the “run once” command, for sample. Nothing happens.Do you know how can i fix it?Thanks for your help! :-)
