Hello!I have the question about VM restoration from just *.vbk file stored in the USB stick.Let say I did the Server 1 Hyper-V VM backup and it is stored in the Server 1 Veeam registered repository. Then I copy these two files on to USB flash and go to another remote location with Server 2 Hyper-V and plugin this flash into USB port.I did not find the answer on this problem anywhere, cause it is not just copied files, it is the full bootable backup. My impression is that VM could be restored only from the repository, not from any folder or even any shared folder. But even if I copy my files from USB to Server 2 Veeam registered repository nothing happens because probably Veeam sees only backups associated with processed jobs. Sorry if I am not clear, but it is really hard to explain. I worked before with Acronis, now moved to Veeam as  a much better product, but many things are unclear. 

I would like to ask about the term of veeam license, if i consider having 2 console, one in site A and one insite B with vm around 10 in each site, so it means that i have to buy 2 bundles of veeam licenses.Then the question is, if i were buying 2 bundle, will i get only 1 license file  or 2 license files ?

I’m going to preface this by saying, please please please, never try this in a production environment!!! But yes, it is technically possible to run Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Agent for Windows, Veeam Agent for Linux, and Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 on a PlayStation 4 (PS4). ‘How?’ and ‘why?’ are the logical questions to ask at this point, so let’s take a quick look. The PS4 has been ‘jailbroken’ for some time, to the point that you can run Linux distributions on it, just like you used to be able to officially within the Playstation 3 era, for a while anyway before Sony removed the feature. A developer called Noob404 has released a PS4 port of Proxmox, the well known hypervisor platform, and has managed to successfully get Windows 10 to run on their PS4.As Windows 10 is a supported OS for many Veeam products, this does unintentionally enable their ability to run on a PS4!

I wish to build a new HOMELAB. Here is a guide and many others I found on Reddit.- How is your lab setup? What would you recommend? Main virtualisation solution would be VMware (would need multiple hosts here). I would also have HyperV and Proxmox VE within this environment. our old server which is hosted on storage as vms need to be migrated using Veeam restore tool on VBR .But I have a concern on restore as i am trying to restore to new machine which ìs seperate physical machine for host and storage.so while restoring the data to new location on new device is there any option to seperate host and storage datas while restoring 

Very small environment - ten users and two quite old servers Fujitsu Primergy TX1310 M1 with Windows Server 2012 R2 Foundation. They have the same hardware, the only difference is in disks models and capacity. The first one is a domain controller (+DNS, DHCP, home folders, other shares). The second one is joined to domain with installed Veeam B&R 12 Community + MS SQL Server. Both servers are built on internal LSI Software RAID (four disks, 2x RAID 1). AD server has two partitions on LUN 0, the first one is OS volume. Recently we had serious power problems and AD server stopped to work properly - no licenses, no services, no RDP etc. I was able to log in locally but there was a problem with networking - the interfaces worked very slow and sometimes stopped. I was not able to start services nor change their settings - the service property window was frozen during saving. I wasn’t able to install any update because of the network problems. After next and next etc. restart it start

I am soliciting feedback from the community and Vanguards in Slack about an issue we are seeing so wanted to get feedback here also.Scenario - we have a customer using v12 with latest patches sending data to one of our DCs with Hitachi HCP Cloud Scale cluster which is very large.  They are sending over 20PB of data to us.Object Lock is turned on for some of the buckets and we are seeing billions of gets/puts/list commands which is causing havoc on the cluster worker nodes for HCPCS.The client has configured their jobs with the default block size of 1MB and we were thinking to change that to 4MB, but it would not make sense for 106-byte files.  That is the sizing of the files we are seeing the issue on for three buckets of which 2 of them are Windows servers and one is Linux.Any thoughts or has anyone run in to this before?  I am working with Veeam and Hitachi together as well but if this rings a bell for anyone your input would be great.Thanks.

I’ve added a shared mailbox to an existing backup job this morning - the mailbox is 7GB in Office 365. The job completed a little while later but in the summary I see “Transferred: 419.6 MB (25466 items)”. Those figures don’t add up, so I’d like to investigate more but I can’t see a way to show the backed up data size for any mailbox. How do I do that?

Hey Community, we have Customers, which have quite a big Physical Infrastructure. It would be really Helpful, if the Protection Groups can not only be having Top Level Folders, but 1 or 2 Subfolders for Organization. Something like:Steel Production Hot (Protection Group) Cold (Protection Group) North Wing 1st-Floor Management (Protection Group) Sales (Protection Group) 2nd-Floor Technic (Protection Group) Engineers (Protection Group)  If you are thinking different or have a better solution for my Problem, i would be happy to hear/read what you have to say. GreetingsMathias

I have backup job on one of my VM windows server 2016 . I set up backup job and it show this warning and completed with an warning, 6/7/2023 2:04:27 AM :: Failed to index guest file system. VSSControl: Index failed Details: vss::CVeeamIndexingProvider::NetTryCompleteIndex. Hello,We are going to set up a backup copy of a vm on a compatible S3 storage, and we will apply a GFS policy.Immutability is activated for 7 days on the object storage.Can you confirm this information below? Do you have a veeam article that explains this?The immutability of GFS backups is not based on the immutability period defined in the Object Storage Repository, but on the retention period of the GFS backup point (e.g. Annual with a retention period of 7 years will have immutability defined for 7 years, so it won't be deletable for 7 years).

Hi,I was trying to restore individual files after booted in using the Veeam Recovery Media ISO (from USB stick) but not like in Windows it only supports restoring volumes I guess or am I missing something?  Thanks
