M365 Sharepoint Backup - 404 error

Hi there, I run an MSP and have just started to get get familiar with Veeam products. The community editions are fantastic.I’ve setup some Sharepoint jobs which are now working, but get a 404 error on a sharepoint file which highlights the job with a warning. https://xxx.sharepoint.com/All Users Shared/_catalogs/masterpage/v4.master A few questions if you don’t mind.How can I exclude the path / file or supress the error When SP backups are running - (Physical machine with CPU i7 4.0, 32Gb) spikes and holds 100% for long periods of time - is this normal? e.g. SP has about 30k objects Memory can go to 5Gb-15Gb - will it use as much as it can? I had some 429 or throttling issues, but adding more applications fixed it issueThank you very much,DP

Agent for Windows 6.0.0.960 on Windows 11: several issues

I’ve been using Agent for Windows for a long time. I’m setup to do scheduled daily Entire Computer backups to Shared Folder (on DSM) with periodic Active full backups early one morning each month, with periodic health checks one other morning each month, and with 32-days retention. It’s been rock-solid dependable. Until Windows 11, that is. On Windows 11, I’m seeing two issues:First, and most critical, is that it doesn’t seem to be respecting the periodic full backup setting or reliably respecting the 32-day retention cleanup of obsolete backups. Three months in a row now, I’ve looked the morning after the full backup was supposed to have run and found only the incremental ran--or even it didn’t run (see next issue). I’ve done full backup on request from the UI. This morning for my laptop I have at least 71 backups, full or incremental, with 33 incrementals newer than the second oldest full. The oldest full is 12/25/22--69 days old, with newer full sets on 1/30/23 (33 days) and 2/26/23

Restore files from backup incremental to another location

Hello everyone, I need to restore “incremental backup” to another “new server” on the network.I have “export disk” to VHD from backup the “old server” and attach this disk to “new server”.In this moment I need to restore “incremental backup” to “new server”. Is this possible? Thank you

ONTAP 9.14.1 now supported with Veeam Data Platform 12.1.

For any NetApp ONTAP or Lenovo ONTAP fans. Veeam has qualified ONTAP 9.14.1 GA with Veeam Data Platform 12.1. One of the features I was waiting for was ONTAP S3 with Object Lock for ransomware protection. Unfortunately this did not work for me see screenshot below. I have reported it to NetApp. They told me that it could be fixed in an ONTAP 9.14.1 “P” release. Backup failure

Running Veeam free version for Linux on Dell Optiplex 5060, OS is Linux Mint Mate 20.3.  Just setting up this machine and moving from an older Dell pc.  In old pc, ran Veeam free version for years of weekly b/u’s, no issues.  Veeam downloaded and installed via Synaptic and set for full system image, target is ext. HDD, USB connection to computer.In new machine, 5 b/u’s have failed, see s/shot.  Targets were 2 different 1tb ext. disks,  each formatted to FAT32, exFAT, and then EXT4.  One of the disks is the same one used for the backup chain in the old pc, no problems..  All failed attempts show the same bottleneck, “source” after running for 2 to 8 minutes.  Not clear what to do here since no previous snags w/ Veeam.   Any suggestions appreciated!

Credentials Store

hi team can any you explain me where the veeam Credentials is store? if it's store in the sql database is the Credentials is encrypted? is it possible to recover Credentials from sql database?

Fun Friday: Fool's Errands, In-Jokes & Fictional Items

Morning! This Fun Friday is a bit different, I just wanted to share something that makes me laugh every time it re-emerges.Has anybody heard of a turboencabulator? If not watch the video below before reading on: Back with us? Good! A turboencabulator, or retro encabulator or any other such derivation is a brilliant fictional item with some of the (IMO) best technobabble ever! A fools errand on the other hand is normally a prank to someone, asking an impossible or nonsensical task, my favourite of these is in a pizzaeria, it’s not uncommon to ask the junior to go to the fridge and get the dough repair kit. And then finally we have the in-jokes, those comments that make you laugh because you know it makes no sense. My favourites being either “Write-only memory” or if there’s any “IT Crowd” fans here, the internet! So today, I invite you to share your favourite stories, or pranks, jokes, fictional items, whatever makes you laugh!And as always, happy Friday!

Hi, I am taking backup of my VMs through Veeam. but when backup is stated then a error is shown that is “Preparing backup proxy VMWare backup proxy for hard disk 1 (nbd)” & Object refference not set to an instance of an object. please help . Thanks

Veeam SQL Agent Access Denied Error

I’m trying to set up the Veeam SQL Agent and have it up and running on my SQL server, but when I try to backup a DB I get the following error:[ERROR]  Failed to backup database model. Error:  Error code: 0x80070005 Access denied. You must be logged in as a Windows administrator to create a virtual device. Failed to start VDI backup.I’m logged in as a domain administrator on the SQL server and am running the backup using a domain admin credential as well.  So I’m not sure why this is failing.

Timothy Dewin’s Famous RPS Tool is now Deprecated

Hey everyone, Tim announced earlier today that his famous RPS (Restore Point Simulator) tool is now deprecated. If this name doesn’t mean anything to you, the URL likely will: https://rps.dewin.me. For years this tool has been a must have for anyone working with data protection. Now Veeam have an official tool (Fun Fact, some RPS code was used/referenced in the official tool so it lives on!). Hi guys,We have to take backup from large number of virtual machines in our environments and sometimes backup jobs are still running during working hours. It has impact on virtual machines performance. Is there any way to define backup window for jobs and backup/replication jobs pause temporarily? Thanks

Problems restoring files from backup

Hi, I'm a new user trying the Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition v12.1 for the first time. I’ve installed Veeam on a Windows 10 computer, and was able to make a backup of all the drives from a client computer also running Windows 10. But when I tried to restore a file from the backup, I got the error message shown below. I am initiating the restore via the Veeam console running on the same computer as the Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition. Restore failed Error: Neither Installer service nor Admin$ file share are available Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Quantum DXi V5000 integration with Veeam - Veeam Data Mover service is not enabled

Hi all,I would like to use Quantum DXi V5000 as deduplication storage appliance  Unfortunately, when adding deduplication storage appliance, there is an error message, that there is no Veeam Data Mover service enabled on the virtual storage appliance To enable Veeam Data Mover service I need to install Veeam Data Mover on the appliance…. The issue is that I do not know default root password for Quantum DXi V5000 and adding non-root user to sudoers file didnt help.Is there any option to manually install Veeam Data Mover on linux based machine?

Hard disk "incorrect function"

Friends,I have a backup scheduled to automatically run daily to a network shared folder on a windows 2019 server, which I access through a share as the local admin of that server.After executing this backup, the hd where this folder is located becomes available, showing the error stating that the folder is not accessible with the warning of "incorrect function".That server is a virtual machine and runs on hyper-v.This hd that is unavailable is mounted on this virtual machine (hyper-v).For me to solve this problem I need to turn off the virtual machine and also the host, when it starts it goes back to normal.Thanks,JJ

Gotcha's for using Linux Hardened Repository as Primary Backup Repo

I swear I’ve seen some posts about this but can’t find them.  I haven’t dipped into the Linux Hardened repo’s with immutability yet, but one of my engineers recently set one up for a client, but as a copy repository.  I’m putting together a proposal to replace our internal Synology NAS that is our primary repository with a Dell PowerEdge R550 with a fair amount of local space (8x 8TB disks in RAID 5 or 6) connected via 10Gb or 25Gb links. Backup data is currently copied to a SOBR at a remote site that is using a Synology NAS and Wasabi for immutable object storage.  Right now the primary site is keeping 30 days of Forward Incrementals with Active Full’s with no GFS retention, but I plan to ramp up some more retention locally at some point as I ran into space issues a few months back and ended up doing all of my GFS work on the copy repo at the remote site for the time being.Any gotcha’s I should be looking out for this sort of configuration - primarily in regard to using a hardened box

Veeam Backup & Replication very slow to start backup

Hi, I am testing Backup and Replication Community Edition and have a very simple test environment consisting of a single Windows Server 2022 with one boot SSD, two HDD’s and a third HDD which is my dedicated Backup Repository.  When I start the job, it take over an hour before it will begin to process/transfer data.  Is this normal or is stuck waiting for something before it can start the backup?  The server really has no load on it as it is a test machine (physical, not virtual).  Below is a screenshot: Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  Thank you!
