Veeam Backup V11 Problem with server with SQL transaction log

Hi everyone, I have problem with one of my servers who have MSQL and when the backup is finished i have this warning message “ Unable to truncate Microsoft SQL Server transaction logs. Details: Failed to process 'TruncateSQLLog' command. Failed to truncate SQL server transaction logs for instances: . See guest helper log.” I have search in official support and only find that the veeam account for backup must be MSQL administrator on that database, and to be local admin on that machine. I have make him database admin, but still i have this warning, and the hdd on that machine will be full soon. We have V11 Enterprise with support and so on, but because we are Public Enterprise we have bought this product from one Company in our Town. Can somebody give me some solution instruction step by step ?

Failed to connect Hyper-V standalone (2012 R2)

Hello,I have a Hyper-V host with 2012 R2 on it and already added to Veeam as a host and it was working fine.One day I found a VM backup job fail.I tried to rescan the host and found the error Access Denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))I tried to edit the host and check the credentials and found I removed the job and removed the host and tried to add it again but the same error in image above appears.I don’t know where the issue comes from. Please assist one of our Backup Copy is not running due to the below error. File does not exist: [********.vib].Failed to open storage for read access[******.vib]. ReFS issues with latest Windows Server Updates (KB5009624, KB5009557, KB5009555)

Just a quick post; the latest Windows Server updates for 2012R2, 2019 and 2022 (haven’t seen 2016) can cause ReFS issues. After the installation, ReFS volumes are shown as RAW and are no longer accessible; so if you’re using ReFS for your repositories, then take be aware of this when installating the update. Besides that, those updates can also cause bootloops for domain controllers and break Hyper-V.Depending on your Windows Server version one of the following updates could have caused the issue: KB5009624, KB5009557, KB5009555 If you’re affected then removing the mentioned update should solve the issue. Don’t (!) try to repair the ReFS volume, because this could cause a dataloss.This should remind everyone why 3-2-1 for Backups is so important. Network path not found, or invalid credentials supplied

I have setup a new server on our network. Connected to domain, network, hyper-v installed and I am unable to add this server to the Virtual Infrastructure > Microsoft Hyper-V > Standalone Hosts > (server).  I have my Veeam server trying to contact our new server and there seems to be a road block. I am running Veeam V11a trying to setup a new 2019 windows server. During the hyper-v setup process I have added the name and/or IP address, I have selected the last option (standalone) which matches the description of the new server.  My credentials do work because I ran a test to setup a VM running server 2019 and I was able to set that up right away. For some reason the physical server is blocking the Veeam connection.  Is there a firewall exception I need to add?  I did attempt to manually add the physical server to Veeam so the agent might create its own firewall exceptions. I was unsuccessful at that as well.

If a backup copyjob shows one vm in the job in a warning status that says “Waiting for backup resources availability”; did that particular VM actually copy over or did it ultimately fail to copy over?

Backup Checkpoint not deleting (Hyper-V Server)

Hello All,I have a VM on standalone Hyper-v 2019 with a backup checkpoint that I can not delete.The checkpoint was created by veeam during backup.There is no opting in the GUI to manually delete the checkpoint.I ran the backup again and it was succesfull however it did not delete the checkpoint.What can I do? the checkpoint is growing quite rapidlly.Version: Veeam Backup 10a Build: 10.0.1.4854 P20201202

Error when adding hyper-v 2019 standalone on veeam B&R 11 installed in windows server 2016

Hi every body,Please i need help to add hyper-v2019 on veeam B&R11 installed in windows server 2016 standard virtual machine. When i add the host hyper-v2019 i have the error bellow :“Failed to connect to host Access denied or timeout expired.Check if you have local administrator privileges on computer .Possible reasons:Invalid credentials.Specified host is not a Hyper-V server. (System.Exception)”But i add hyper-v2016 on the same veeam B&R11 successfully.the account i use in veeam is added in the hyper-v 2019 host local administrator groupFile and printing share is active and authorized in windows firewall in the hyper-v 2019 host. i can open the folder \\hyper-v 2019 host\c$ successfully on the virtual machine in which veeam B&R11 is installed.Thanks

Veeam does not send automated emails but email test configuration works

Hi everyone, i’ve been having this problem for a while now…Email notifications after backup completion are not being sent anymore to the specified email address, but when i test the credentials the email arrives successfully to my email account. I’m using the Veeam Agent 5.0 on a windows server 2012 r2. No veeam B&R is implied, just the agent making backups to a local disk.Additional informations:i recently changed the email server for the email account, before changing it everything was fine and the backup emails arrived, so at a first glance it seemed a problem with the email server; but i made a clean installation of veeam agent 5.0 on another server, using the same credentials, and the emails for the backup job are arriving regularly; so this excludes the fact that it may be a problem of the new email server(and also the fact that the email tests arrive without any problem).So i thought this may be a problem related to some veeam files regarding the old installation, so here’s

Error: Unstable connection: unable to transmit data.

Hello there,I have a backup job which was going seamlessly. but in the last days it was failing after reaching 80% with error message attached below. I tried the job by disabling firewall rules nothing new occurred. All backup infrastructure components are working fine for other VMs. I have also checked firewall logs but there is nothing blocked related to this backup.Error message:Error: Unstable connection: unable to transmit data. Failed to upload disk. Skipped arguments: [vddkConnSpec>]; Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Exception from server: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [11956]. Failed to download disk 'VM-Name.vmdk'. I need to figure out how to resolve this issue immediately.

How to fix a VSS: Backup job failed. [Microsoft Exchange Writer]

Consistently getting “VSS: Backup job failed. Cannot notify writers about the ‘BACKUP FINISH’ event. A VSS critical writer has failed. Writer name: [Microsoft Exchange Writer]. Class ID: [{long cryptic txt}]  Instance ID:  [{long cryptic txt}]  Writer’s State:  [ VSS_WS_FAILED_AT_BACKUP_COMPLETE ]  Error code: [0x800423f3]This is happening on our Exchange 2016 Mailbox servers. Following the error above, when Processing finishes it is listed as a “Warning”“Did the job “Fail” or is this just a Warning? How do I fix this Error/Warning?Will sincerely appreciate any advise I can get!

Veeam errors, newbie here: Unable to apply retention policy. Failed to delete backup files

Hi, I have not been inside Veeam for a while. I am getting errors as in the snapshot below:I understand it is complaining about storage space for backups but I am trying to zero in on what to attack first here. The one that interests me is “Unable to apply retention policy: failed to delete backup files error…...is locked by running session xxx-xxx [Instant recovery]. Is Veeam just too busy to start the backup because it could not apply retention policy? Not sure which item to investigate first...ar

VBR 11a Error at fresh install ?

Credentials for SQL DB backup (VeeamBackup DB)

Hello, I need to create a SQL DB backup for VeeamBackup DB (VBR 10). I’m using MS SQL Server Management Studio with Windows Authentication however the DB is not accessible with this user, do I need to use SQL Server Authentication with th “sa” user? if yes, I don’t have the password, is there a default password? if no, can I try to reset this password without problems? Thanks for your help, Omar De Souza.

Failed to upgrade host components

Hello, Recently, the Veeam B&R server was updated to the 11.1.0. (). When I first opened Veeam Console, The “Components Update” wizard was initiated and the update processes were started. The update of the veeam server failed with the status “Failed to upgrade host components. Error: 'Error 1714. The older version of Veeam Agent for Linux Redistributable cannot be removed.” What can I try?

What does "Warning: some restore points were not processed" mean?

What does “Warning: some restore points failed to process” mean? I got this warning on a cloud copyjob and I can’t really find out what specifically it means or why it happened? Does this mean the copyjob failed or in a disaster recovery scenario that I’d have missing data that I couldn’t restore to from the cloud because it didn’t copy over? I ran a new sync and it was successful, but I am wondering what this warning means and how can I present it in the future?

Need Help Diagnosing Slow Backup Speed..

Hey Veeam Community,I am having a problem backing up my personal workstation to an external hard drive.I am using the free version of Veeam Agent for Windows.When I backup, my main (C:) Internal SSD shows:Local SSD (C:) (476.1 GB) 262.5 GB read at 142 MB/sHowever, my other Internal SSD ‘terabyte’ (X:)Terabyte (X:) (953.9 GB) 3.8 GB read at 4 MB/s.I benchmarked both of my drives with CrystalDiskMark and they both got good similar results being Sata SSD’s, so the X: drive should not be this slow.I’ve tried swapping sata ports, changing cables, disable throttling when system is in use, etc. Nothing seems to help.Can anyone help me diagnose what is causing one drive to backup so much faster? Thanks, Mike

Virtual Machine restoration is very slow

Hi, I am currently restoring a VM to a ESXi host (original host) and I am already on my 8th day of the restoration. Which is very very very slow. The VM has a size of 2TB and as of this writing the “statistics” shows that I have still 900+ GB left with the restoration rate at 2MB/s at 56% in progress state while the “log” shows “Restoring Hard disk 1 (2.0 TB): 188.6GB restored at 349KB/s [nbd] 157:xx:xx” This is a Full VM restoration job and the file is located on an External HDD.
