Solved

I want to backup two Linux Systems. And i get this error on both systems:Unable to perform guest file system indexing: Failed to establish a network connection to the host.

I have a 5-instance Veeam license. The only tool I use is the “Veem Agent for Windows”. I have a 6th computer that isn’t used very often and I backup infrequently - once every couple of months. I have been using the “Veem Agent for Windows” free edition for that. Lately there’s a notice about a new version available - I’m currently using a v5 version. When I try to download the new version, I always get a message about the download being “corrupt”. So I went looking for the download, and can’t find anything for the “Veem Agent for Windows” anymore. Has this been renamed?

Hi FolksDoes anybody have an idea of how many api calls a VBR → Tape Server → AWS Tape Storage Gateway Appliance might create when sitting idle, i.e. not actually performing jobs? I only ask since I was watching the setup and see Veeam periodically doing rescans and so was wondering if those will result in charges.

I’m new on using veeam and data domainbase on this article https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/dell_dd.html?ver=120if i want to make data domain as backup repository, I need to deploy a gateway server in backup infrastructure to make communication between backup proxy with dell data domainis there any other way to do backup with veeam and dell data domain without deploying a gateway server in my backup infrastructure ?

Hello!I have the question about VM restoration from just *.vbk file stored in the USB stick.Let say I did the Server 1 Hyper-V VM backup and it is stored in the Server 1 Veeam registered repository. Then I copy these two files on to USB flash and go to another remote location with Server 2 Hyper-V and plugin this flash into USB port.I did not find the answer on this problem anywhere, cause it is not just copied files, it is the full bootable backup. My impression is that VM could be restored only from the repository, not from any folder or even any shared folder. But even if I copy my files from USB to Server 2 Veeam registered repository nothing happens because probably Veeam sees only backups associated with processed jobs. Sorry if I am not clear, but it is really hard to explain. I worked before with Acronis, now moved to Veeam as  a much better product, but many things are unclear. Thanks!

I would like to ask about the term of veeam license, if i consider having 2 console, one in site A and one insite B with vm around 10 in each site, so it means that i have to buy 2 bundles of veeam licenses. Then the question is, if i were buying 2 bundle, will i get only 1 license file  or 2 license files ?

Hi Guys.Is here anyone who tried to use Kasten on OCI (Oracle CLoud Infrastructure) block volumes and succeed?Seems I am not the only one who tries to utilise oci-bv storageclass

hello everyone,i’m a beginner for using veeam software, so I would like to know about the calculation of backup proxy needs. according to this article https://bp.veeam.com/vbr/2_Design_Structures/D_Veeam_Components/D_backup_proxies/vmware_proxies.html if I have 236 VMs with used data around 192 TB and for physical server is 17 with used data 50 TB,VMs proxy calculationD = 192 TB*1024*1024 = 201326592W = 8H*3600 seconds = 28,800 seconds (backup Windows in seconds)T = 52428800/28800 =6991MB/sCore Full = 1821/100 = 70, Core Incremental = (T*CR)/25 = 14 core, proxy requirement : 70core & 140 GB RAMwell, if I want to achieve backup windows in 8 hour the proxy that I need is9 virtual proxy8vCpu and 18 RAM for each virtual proxy server Physical ServerD = 50TB *1024*1024 = 52428800 W = 8H*3600 seconds = 28,800 seconds (backup Windows in seconds)T = 52428800/28800 =1,821 MB/sCore Full = 1821/100 = 19 core, Core Incremental = (T*CR)/25 = 4 core, proxy requirement : 19 core & 38 GB RAM2 p

Team,Can’t find how to specify the type of DB to be installed during the v12 unattended setup. I want Postgres =)Anyone can help?Alexey.

I am soliciting feedback from the community and Vanguards in Slack about an issue we are seeing so wanted to get feedback here also.Scenario - we have a customer using v12 with latest patches sending data to one of our DCs with Hitachi HCP Cloud Scale cluster which is very large.  They are sending over 20PB of data to us.Object Lock is turned on for some of the buckets and we are seeing billions of gets/puts/list commands which is causing havoc on the cluster worker nodes for HCPCS.The client has configured their jobs with the default block size of 1MB and we were thinking to change that to 4MB, but it would not make sense for 106-byte files.  That is the sizing of the files we are seeing the issue on for three buckets of which 2 of them are Windows servers and one is Linux.Any thoughts or has anyone run in to this before?  I am working with Veeam and Hitachi together as well but if this rings a bell for anyone your input would be great.Thanks.

I’ve added a shared mailbox to an existing backup job this morning - the mailbox is 7GB in Office 365. The job completed a little while later but in the summary I see “Transferred: 419.6 MB (25466 items)”. Those figures don’t add up, so I’d like to investigate more but I can’t see a way to show the backed up data size for any mailbox. How do I do that?

Hi,I’d like to add Recovery ISO to boot menu so that I don’t have to use USB. Is there a way to do it?

Hello everyone! Recently I installed a new VEM, however I notice that configuration button is missing on the right corner: Am I forgetting something?I presume it is a permission problem, but I cannot remember that.

Hey Community, we have Customers, which have quite a big Physical Infrastructure. It would be really Helpful, if the Protection Groups can not only be having Top Level Folders, but 1 or 2 Subfolders for Organization. Something like:Steel Production Hot (Protection Group) Cold (Protection Group) North Wing 1st-Floor Management (Protection Group) Sales (Protection Group) 2nd-Floor Technic (Protection Group) Engineers (Protection Group)  If you are thinking different or have a better solution for my Problem, i would be happy to hear/read what you have to say. GreetingsMathias

Hi folks,Can someone explain to me “the programming dummy” this word mutex? Is it just a log shock and awe term, i.e. someone like Geoff sees something “mutex” in the logs and thinks back to Grade 10 Math and makes a quick retreat? 😁Recently I have seen this word in different logs and wanted to double check with the pros before I press the terrifying search button on google. (I say that because I had a red mark on my face and thought I should google, it basically told me all the horrible things that it could be, until the unsponsored answer way at the bottom had a nothing to worry about explanation)!!

I have backup job on one of my VM windows server 2016 . I set up backup job and it show this warning and completed with an warning, 6/7/2023 2:04:27 AM :: Failed to index guest file system. Hello,We are going to set up a backup copy of a vm on a compatible S3 storage, and we will apply a GFS policy.Immutability is activated for 7 days on the object storage. Can you confirm this information below? Do you have a veeam article that explains this? The immutability of GFS backups is not based on the immutability period defined in the Object Storage Repository, but on the retention period of the GFS backup point (e.g. Annual with a retention period of 7 years will have immutability defined for 7 years, so it won't be deletable for 7 years).

Hi,With VAMW, can I exclude some folders/files in Volume backup? Thanks

Hi,I was trying to restore individual files after booted in using the Veeam Recovery Media ISO (from USB stick) but not like in Windows it only supports restoring volumes I guess or am I missing something?  Thanks

If a backup copyjob shows one vm in the job in a warning status that says “Waiting for backup resources availability”; did that particular VM actually copy over or did it ultimately fail to copy over?

Hello, I have installed k10 and Kubevirt. The backup of a namepasce is running just fine : But when I try to restore it, I have an error :  If you look at the details :  You can see it does not recognize  a ‘k8sType’ ‘virtualmachine’ which is a CRD.  Did I miss something during configuration ?  Regards,

We are using Veeam Backup and Replication 11, getting this error when backing up the servers:

I’d backed up some data for a group of users during a mail migration. The job is complete so I’ve deleted it all to free up the licenses for another job. Unfortunately I believe that I’ve done things in the wrong order. The repository has been deleted and now I can’t get “Remove-VBOLicensedUser”. For every user it outputs:“Remove-VBOLicensedUser : The process cannot access the file '\\10.1.1.1\office365backups\BackupName\Repository.xml' because it is being used by another process” The repository listed is nothing to do with these users and it’s not in user by any process that I can see - certainly openfiles is blank. Any idea how to proceed?

We have used NAS device to create a backup folder with Commvault. Can we upload the backup from NAS to Cloud? We are using Community Edition 10
