Hello; I have a question.I installed a new version of VBR 12.2 3 days ago.I registered a tape server to use a tape device (IBM 3573-TL 1610).This device contains 15 LTO9 devices. I registered the tape server for the first time, and I did an inventory.But 2 LTO devices failed to inventory. Hello,I was wondering if some of you have already try to play with immutable repository for backup job in Veeam for M365 v8.I want to try the governance mode but I not sure how to test it properly…I use a Wasabi bucket set with versioning and immuability. In Veeam I created my repository with the following parameters My backup worked properly Now I want to test the immutability. But I'm not sure to how to proceed.In wasabi console I tried to delete the bucket directly, I got the message: Okay, I decided to delete the Veeam folder and tadammm the folder has been deletedThe bucket should be empty so I relaunch my job, I though to have a new Full backup, but no. Veeam create an incremental… Strange….Now I want to try to delete some data from Veeam but except with powershell it’s not possible.I’m looking a cmdlet to delete all sites in my repository.
We’ve installed the SQL Server Plug-in on a couple of test boxes, but the Veeam toolbar isn’t showing up in SSMS when we open it up. Is there a trick to get it to show up so our DBA can manage Veeam backups from within SSMS?We installed the plug-in with an account that was in the local Administrators group. We right-clicked and selected “run as administrator” when we launched the installer. We went through the Veeam Plugin Configuration application. But after all of that, when we open SSMS the Veeam toolbar doesn’t show up like it does in all of the demo videos. How can I back up our Proxmox Ve cluster environment to Cloud Connect Service Provider storage? With VMWARE and Hyper-V I can choose from the Cloud Connect repository that has been created, but when I create a backup job for Proxmox this is not available to me. Does anyone know why? Is there a solution?
Hi Guys, I wonder if I can get some help on this one. I have the Veeam One report showing VM Snapshots older than 3 days which is showing snapshots that have long been deleted. Does anyone know if there is a way to kick Veeam One into recognising that they have been deleted ?I’m thinking a SQL query to clear a table in the DB that has got stuck or something like that ?Any help greatly appreciated.ThanksPhil
Hi, I’m running Veeam B&R CE on my home server and plan to upgrade from Server 2022 to 2025 when that come out. I would like to do a clean install of 2025 and was wondering if there’s a way to backup my install of Veeam so I can reinstall it on my upgrader Server 2025 (eg., the configurations, databases etc. The backup repositories are on separate disks and so will be directly accessible). We want to restore a SQL Server database within a small window, so that there is minimal downtime for transferring usage from the old database to the new database. With our previous backup software (Backup Exec), we used to restore the full backup and leave the database in recovery mode, then restore the differential backup on top of that, still leaving the database in recovery mode, then restore the transaction logs up to just before the downtime period, still leaving the database in recovery mode, so that, once the downtime commenced, we would only have to restore a couple more transaction log backups to bring the database up-to-date with the source database.We are struggling to find a similar option in Veeam. We have 2 support calls open, one attempting to see if we can use a similar method to the above, and one attempting to see if Instant Recovery is the solution to this.- for the first option, it appears that Veeam cannot append any restores to the original restore - it simply of
Hi, all. I have question about how to perform large backups on a slow network. My current infrastructure is : headquarters and the IDC where the physical servers(119 TB) are located are more than 100km apart, connected by a 1Gbps network. (This network is for business, and I don't have any plans to set up a backup network yet.) Initially, I wanted to have the backup server and repository server at headquarters so that I don't mind if the initial full backup takes a long time, but if I need to recovery backups, it will take too long. (Single largest server is over 7TB). The second way I thought of is to install the backup server and repository server in IDC and make a backup copy to HQ.However, the backup copy is also downloaded at 1Gbps, so I think the business network will be disrupted on the day of copying the full backup data. How would be the best way to configure it in my situation?Will the 'WAN Accelerator' feature help?Also, does this work on a local network? I need your advice.

Good day team,I created a test job of an oracle linux server(database server), job appeared in the job listing, ran 2 job tests, both failed with errors:I had the wrong credentials first, so i thought that was the problem, I now found the correct credentials, managed to successfuly connect to my oracle linux server using correct credentials using a non standard ssh port. I was adding the server under backup infrastructure->mananged servers, entered correct ssh creds, reached the review page to install the Installer and Transport service( so clearly the linux login creds are correct). Concerns:My boss said to HALT on installing these 2 required services on this DB server as he does not want any services impact or catastrophe lol, he is new to veeam. For me lol, i am very cautious as well, i dont want to any overtime because of any unforseen issues Would the absence of these 2 services have caused the errors above, will backups work if these are installed? I’m experienced with Kubernetes but new to K10. I’m deploying it on my cluster via the K10 Helm chart. I’m running into a problem with the Ingress settings. I’m using cert-manager to provision a TLS cert via Let’s Encrypt, which I do regularly. When I create a backup job and enable GFS retention, are the GFS backups automatically included in the secondary backup Copy jobs or do I need to configure GFS retention separately for the secondary Backup Copy jobs?
Backup Jobs not doing Storage Snapshot using vSAN.We have a VBR in Azure (AVS). The VMs are on volumes in vSAN. So the backup job finishes successfully. However, instead of doing a storage snapshot, the job does hot-add. The job has been configured to use storage snapshot. Since the VM snapshot is not removed right away, consolidation takes longer which affect the application running on the servers.
We are already on VDRO v7.1.0.205 with built-in VBR and VeeamOne still on v12.1. When I try to do an in-place upgrade, I got the message below. I did a separate upgrade of VBR and VeeamOne on a VDRO server before and ran into issues and learned that I should update through the VDRO patch. So what would be the recommended upgrade path to update the built-ins to address https://www.veeam.com/kb4649?
I am not seeing any option to export the jobs. Am I missing something here? I dont want to use Configuration backup option just to export job configuration. There has to be a simple way to export the jobs or an enhancement should be raised to include this in future releases.
If the Veeam Management Agent for a client is removed (stop managing) from the SPC, the option should be present for the Management Agent to first uninstall the Windows Backup Agent and delete all configuration from disk first (full cleanup for customer leaving). At present the Management Agent is removed but the associated Veeam Windows Backup Agent is left behind, orphaned (and in the case of a locked UI, inaccessible to the user) and then requires manual uninstallation.
We have an existing Veeam environment as a service provider and using Cloud Connect. With this we currently host cloud backups and replication for tenants, which works fine. We also have VMware vCloud Director integrated. We are just now implementing CDP into this same environment. When CDP is installed into the environment, Veeam creates a new storage policy in vSphere named “Veeam CDP Replication”. This storage policy has a requirement defined to “enable host based rules”, and the single rule that is enabled is “Replication” and Provider veecdp, which is the I/O filter name. For reasons I cannot work out as of yet, this storage policy will only see one of our datastores as compatible, and this datastore happens to be the local direct attached storage of one of the ESXi hosts in the cluster, not storage on both hosts. Today Veeam updated the VB365 v8 page with an update to a new patch version - 8.0.3.1044 - KB4656: Release Information for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 8 Cumulative PatchesI downloaded and tried to run the installer and received the following error, so wanted to know if anyone else has tried this latest ISO? I am not in Production just yet with this so just working through updating and have opened a case with Veeam too.If anyone has got this and fixed it let me know. I have a question about backup job configuration when using S3 repository with immuability enabled.In the job retention if I set only 14 days without GFS, it means Forever incremental mode for me.If I click next I don’t have any error or warning to enable GFS like I could have with a Hardened repository.I remember on object, we only copy new blocks not files. Once immutability expires, unused/expires blocks are just deleted, but it’s not really clear for me.More intrigant Veeam is in capacity to “Merge” the files … and apply the retention ...The immutability works if I tried to delete the files
My organization uses VMWare ESXi to manage all of our virtual machines. We do not have the correct license to be able to do simple “copy” backups of our virtual machines (according to the error messages that I get when I attempt those). We are having to run backups from the VEEAM agents, but, the last time that I had an issue and needed to restore, it was a pain in the a$$. I’m assuming that this is because of the way that we are using the agents, but I really don’t know any better way.Would it be possible for someone to point me to or help me out with a step-by-step for the best practices for backing up our virtual machines? How should my VM hard drives be set up to allow for the quickest possible backup/restore?
