Hi,I have recently inherited a site using Veeam Backup & Replication V12One of the components of a Backup Copy Job is failing with the following errorCannot proceed with the job: existing backup meta file 'XXX-XXX-DC01_764B4.vbm' on repository 'XXX-XXX-BK02 - VMs' is not synchronized with the DB. To resolve this, run repository rescan When I run the “repository rescan” I get the warning belowFailed to import backup path /|drs-vms|backups|XXX-XXX-BK02 VM Copy|Cluster Windows VM Dailys|AIR-PIC-DC01_764B4.vbm Details: Root element is missing.387164The repository is offsite and it is a Ubuntu SystemAny advice would be appreciatedThank You

I am setting up VBO to back up 365 data to the cloud as we are starting to migrate all users to 365. I have read it’s best to separate repos instead of just having one repo for the whole organization.Anyone have an example of best setup? So far I am starting out creating separate repos for OneDrive, Teams, Sharepoint, Groups and separate jobs for each one of those. Is this a good approach? I was also going to add one more repo for Users. Would that cover everything for now as we are currently still using exchange on prem?  Should I also make one repo and job for the entire Org with all data in it? Or only have one repo with everything in it? Just want to make sure I set it up properly so I don’t realize I should have set it up differently a year down the road. Thanks!

I wanted to ask here in the community if anyone has developed a Veeam Tape report mainly for size reporting that they can share?  I am looking in to VONE but the reports there are not sufficient enough for our reporting.We have a service that clients send to VCC then it tapes out for long term offline storage.  So each month we need to automate reporting on size for each tenant of consumed data on tape.I am also asking in the Vanguard slack too about this so some of you may see this there as well.  Also doing my Googling too. 😋

The veeamma looks at the /etc/os_release file and if it doesn't match with one of 3 debian based Linux distros they it won't install, even if it's still running the save versions of apt and etc... what's the logic behind that design choice?

Hi Team,Got a VM running on a ESXi host. Need to add additional disk space to C: drive. However, couldn’t increase it any further using the VM properties under storage. The provisioned disk capacity is 230GB and the total disk utilization is closer to 230GB as well. The machine is thin provisioned. The connected SAN storage got free available space too. Just wondering the best option to add more disk capacity to C: drive please?Appreciate your feedback.kind regards,Andrew

I am using Veeam backup for Microsoft 365 to backup our entire Microsoft 365 Tenant, the backups keeps stopping for me to authenticate and I would like to know if that can be automated or add a way around it. Pop up i am getting is similar to this on the Veeam Backup for microsoft 365. note: imagine is just for illustration 

Hello,what are the minimum permissions that linux user needs to have to be able to do file level restore using Veeam?Setup is as it follows:I have Rocky Linux 9.5 OS VM and I have Win Server host where Veeam is located. The goal is to be able to do file level restore from that Linux server. The thing is I need user for it.What I would like to do, I only want the user to be able to do restore from one specific directory, I don’t want him to be able to see anything else or do anything else, except the restore part, what is the best way to achieve this?

We would like to clarify a few points about offloading backups to Azure Storage.1. Does the Veeam application support Azure Entra ID for offloading backups to Azure Storage?2. Can Azure Entra ID be used as an alternative to Shared Key access for connecting to Azure Blob Storage?3. Are there any limitations or challenges associated with integrating Azure Entra ID? If so, is there a roadmap for addressing these in future Veeam releases?

Hello,we have VMs on VMware platform.During VM restore they are removed from affinity rule from cluster level like host rule “should run” or “separate VM”. So in case A side is down is switched into side B and like proxy servers they cannot be 2 on the same esx host, so there is rule separate.As far as i know, only vSphere tags are restore.Is there any option how to restore these rules as well?thank you

I just setup a new Windows 2025 Standard server and tried to install VeeamAgentWindows_6.3.1.1074. We are getting an application that runs on MySQL and I need to know if & how Veeam can backup MySQL. So far I’ve found documentation on how to do this in Linux but not Windows. Im running VBR 12.3

How can I add new transactions to a DB without doing a full DB restore? Our DBA are trying to restore a DB to a new server. The DB is huge and the restore process takes several hours. Within those hours, there are new transactions coming in and being backed up using transaction logging. How can we add or restore those new transactions on top of the previously restored DB without doing another full restore using Veeam SQL Explorer? I tried several options but I always end up with the message below. Thanks again for your suggestions.

I need to migrate a bunch of Hyper-V VMs to a new Windows server for the first time. While researching different options I have seen some info online that Veeam can do this, but I can’t find clear instructions for VBR. Does anyone have any info or links on a guide? Or does this require additional Veeam software? I see various methods are available, but I’m getting into VBR and VBO and want to see what other tasks I can do with Veeam. Plus it seems like it may be an easy task with Veeam since we are already backing these up with VBR.

Hi, In a customer’s VBR 12.3.1.1139 server (free license) we are having some trouble achieving reliable backup times. It’s a big deduplicated file server (11TB of disks total) running on a Hyper-V VM. The software is installed on the host (WS 2022) and it backs up both host and vms. The backup repository is a QNAP NAS with 30TB of space connected via NFS with 10GB/s network. We tried having a job with periodic synthetic fulls and sometimes it took “only” 10 hours, but more often than not it would take more than 2 days.When this happens it seems to get “stuck” at a certain percentage so we cancel the job to leave room for it to continue making its daily backups.Same when merging backups in a forever incremental situation, sometimes it merges data in 3 hours, sometimes it takes 30, for the (presumably) same reason. The console says bottleneck is Target, but the NAS is pretty much new and it’s DEDICATED to backups only, there is nothing else there, the CPU does not work hard and the disk

I know there are steps to setup a new server but this is an existing OS with the storage mounted already. I need to add all the STIG hardening etc so can someone share these steps before I add it as a hardened repo.thanks.

VBR Migration to New Server Error when accessing User and Roles.Did a test migration from an old VBR to a new server. Most functions and configuration migrated successfully, just need to re-enter credentials for the cloud, storage (NAS and immutable). Backup jobs are also running successfully and configuration backups are working. However when I went to Users and Roles, I got the error below, “Failed to unprotect data:…..”. I thought initially, it was just the encryption so I enabled but still get the same error. What is causing this issue? Thanks.

I’ve been in the process of redesigning my Veeam network for the past month.  I can’t decide between a management/security domain for my Veeam components, or just going the workgroup route.  I consider our setup small and fairly basic: two VMware hosts in one location, and another in a backup location.Is a domain for Veeam that much safer?  I already have my network isolation setup and configured with VLANs, and I just feel like adding another domain to manage is a waste of hardware resources, licensing, and my time.I’ve read the Veeam Best Practice Guide “Workgroup or Domain?” chapter so many times, I think I can recite it from memory.I appreciate any thoughts that other Veeam experts have on this subject.  Especially for smaller setups like mine.

Received a notification from our NOC saying that the C drive was filling up, took a peek and noticed that there were a lot of log files in CheckpointRemoval but Im unsure if these are safe to delete or at the very least, zip up. Any help is appreciated!

Hello everyone,My Veeam B&R server is running on a Windows 10 VM and I’m about to migrate it to a Windows Server VM.  I’m going to take the opportunity to migrate to PostgreSQL for the backend at the same time.  I’m more comfortable with PostgreSQL than SQL Server and it will reduce our licensing costs.I recently went through a VMWare to Hyper-V migration (thanks to Veeam it was very straightforward).The downside is that I must maintain the legacy VMWare backups until the end of the retention period and maintain the new Hyper-V backups in parallel.  I can’t afford a reset on block tracking or whatever references are maintained for XFS reflink usage.With a migration to a new server and new database engine, relying only on the Veeam B&R backup .bco file, is there any danger of losing changed block tracking data or resetting the reflink index, triggering a requirement for a full backup? With thanks,Simon
