Team, Using VBR V12- I’m directly pushing the data to Azure Blob COLD TIER (min 90days retention) storage. In Veeam Backup Job settings-  defining 7 Days retention, weekly once Full, Monthly once Full.Will these retention impacts COLD TIER Cost? How it impacts? What type of impacts?Suggest the opinion based on above subject and below notes. Note: Maintaining the retention 7days so the backup chain will be forming and removing data from COLD TIER Azure Blob COLD TIER have 90days min retention and costs for earlier deletion@Rick Vanover @Kristen225 @Melissa @Veeam User @Veeam Administrator @VEEAM_Legend @VEEAM NOVICE @VeeamDream

Hi all,I have the above error and can’t seem to find a solution. With the research I’ve done so far, some suggested this is an account authentication issue. I’ve ensured that this is not the case. I’ve checked to see if the the port 11731 is being used by another process. It’s not. It’s free and listening. I tried recreating the job, no joy. I’ve rebooted the server to nil effect.Does anyone have any other suggestions?Thanks in advance.

Hi All,Last week on the VUG Belux event I brought up the Virtual lab supports maximum of 9 networks.For Surebackup. What is also described in this kbhttps://www.veeam.com/kb4353There they state there is no way to bypass this limit.On the location somebody told there is via Powershell.Do we have an example of this and is it then also shown in the GUI?Thanks,Benny

Hi all, I'm facing issues when trying to upgrade VBR from 12.3.1 to 12.3.2.EM went fine, but when I try to upgrade VBR, I get an error:"Failed to user specified user account. Error code: 0x00000057".I am running the setup as a domain admin. I also tried to run the setup logged in as the Veeam service account (which is also a domain admin), and as a local admin on the VBR server. All resulted in the same error.Anybody seen this before? I also created a case with Veeam support: 07736493

The job fails with the following error:"Selected server HV01 is unavailable."Here’s what makes this confusing: HV01 is the Veeam Backup Server itself I’m currently logged in to HV01, and it's definitely online The VM being backed up is up and running It’s just one VM in this Off-Host backup job I’ve already checked the Veeam services, DNS resolution, and proxy configuration – all seem fine Any idea why Veeam thinks the server is unavailable – even though it’s the Veeam server itself?Thanks in advance for any help or pointers!Cheers

Hi all,I took the VMCA 2024 exam this week and passed.My exam was NOT based on one central scenario but each question got a small introduction, setting the scene description of an environment, company,…And then based on this description you got your question.Other thoughts: Learn the details: some questions are really into details of functionality. Without studying, these questions are hard if you’re not confronted with them in your day to day interaction with Veeam prodcuts. The Rasmus’ videos are very helpfull. Altough they’re getting outdated (direct to object storage was not possible yet during these videos) Use ‘reverse logic’ and decimate the answers of the multiple choice that you think are totally wrong in this case. It makes it easier to make a selection of correct answers.

Anyone using VSPC to patch VBR servers - is there a way to have it patch VEM first and then VBR or is VEM a manual process then use VSPC to patch just VBR?We are moving towards automation and VSPC is a great way to patch/update servers which I am exploring due to the recent 12.3.2 patch that came out.Any insight is appreciated.

VBR and VEM using PostgreSQL, however VeeamONE still using MSSQL, I am looking forward to see VeeamONE using PostgreSQL, it will be great to unify the DBs for Veeam infrastructure.

I am setting up VBO to back up 365 data to the cloud as we are starting to migrate all users to 365. I have read it’s best to separate repos instead of just having one repo for the whole organization.Anyone have an example of best setup? So far I am starting out creating separate repos for OneDrive, Teams, Sharepoint, Groups and separate jobs for each one of those. Is this a good approach? I was also going to add one more repo for Users. Would that cover everything for now as we are currently still using exchange on prem?  Should I also make one repo and job for the entire Org with all data in it? Or only have one repo with everything in it? Just want to make sure I set it up properly so I don’t realize I should have set it up differently a year down the road. Thanks!

I wanted to ask here in the community if anyone has developed a Veeam Tape report mainly for size reporting that they can share?  I am looking in to VONE but the reports there are not sufficient enough for our reporting.We have a service that clients send to VCC then it tapes out for long term offline storage.  So each month we need to automate reporting on size for each tenant of consumed data on tape.I am also asking in the Vanguard slack too about this so some of you may see this there as well.  Also doing my Googling too. 😋

The veeamma looks at the /etc/os_release file and if it doesn't match with one of 3 debian based Linux distros they it won't install, even if it's still running the save versions of apt and etc... what's the logic behind that design choice?

Hi Team,Got a VM running on a ESXi host. Need to add additional disk space to C: drive. However, couldn’t increase it any further using the VM properties under storage. The provisioned disk capacity is 230GB and the total disk utilization is closer to 230GB as well. The machine is thin provisioned. The connected SAN storage got free available space too. Just wondering the best option to add more disk capacity to C: drive please?Appreciate your feedback.kind regards,Andrew

I am using Veeam backup for Microsoft 365 to backup our entire Microsoft 365 Tenant, the backups keeps stopping for me to authenticate and I would like to know if that can be automated or add a way around it. Hello,what are the minimum permissions that linux user needs to have to be able to do file level restore using Veeam?Setup is as it follows:I have Rocky Linux 9.5 OS VM and I have Win Server host where Veeam is located. The goal is to be able to do file level restore from that Linux server. The thing is I need user for it.What I would like to do, I only want the user to be able to do restore from one specific directory, I don’t want him to be able to see anything else or do anything else, except the restore part, what is the best way to achieve this?

We would like to clarify a few points about offloading backups to Azure Storage.1. Does the Veeam application support Azure Entra ID for offloading backups to Azure Storage?2. Can Azure Entra ID be used as an alternative to Shared Key access for connecting to Azure Blob Storage?3. Are there any limitations or challenges associated with integrating Azure Entra ID? If so, is there a roadmap for addressing these in future Veeam releases?

Hello,we have VMs on VMware platform.During VM restore they are removed from affinity rule from cluster level like host rule “should run” or “separate VM”. So in case A side is down is switched into side B and like proxy servers they cannot be 2 on the same esx host, so there is rule separate.As far as i know, only vSphere tags are restore.Is there any option how to restore these rules as well?thank you

I just setup a new Windows 2025 Standard server and tried to install VeeamAgentWindows_6.3.1.1074. We are getting an application that runs on MySQL and I need to know if & how Veeam can backup MySQL. So far I’ve found documentation on how to do this in Linux but not Windows. Im running VBR 12.3

How can I add new transactions to a DB without doing a full DB restore? Our DBA are trying to restore a DB to a new server. The DB is huge and the restore process takes several hours. Within those hours, there are new transactions coming in and being backed up using transaction logging. How can we add or restore those new transactions on top of the previously restored DB without doing another full restore using Veeam SQL Explorer? I tried several options but I always end up with the message below. Thanks again for your suggestions.

I need to migrate a bunch of Hyper-V VMs to a new Windows server for the first time. While researching different options I have seen some info online that Veeam can do this, but I can’t find clear instructions for VBR. Does anyone have any info or links on a guide? Or does this require additional Veeam software? I see various methods are available, but I’m getting into VBR and VBO and want to see what other tasks I can do with Veeam. Plus it seems like it may be an easy task with Veeam since we are already backing these up with VBR.
