HI Everyone, good friday! I few days ago, I saw the working space area available on the new calculator, it is great to have it! My question is regarding on how to use the working space, I’m asking that, because in the VMCA class v11 we use to get the biggest working space form the workloads that were used. the design template has a special raw to fill that information, here is an exerpt from the doc ”Veeam Backup & Replication v11: Architecture and Design”Now, the new doc. v12 the working space is not there anymore, so my question is, should I still using the largest work space or should I consider the  sun all of them?

Hi All,I’m receiving this error on within Veeam running a Backup Copy to a QNAP. I’m a novice at Veeam so any help is appreciated. Looking in the C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup folder, which log file in particular will detail where exactly this error is happening? Below is the summary of the Failed ‘Backup Copy to QNAP’ job.  

We’ve installed the SQL Server Plug-in on a couple of test boxes, but the Veeam toolbar isn’t showing up in SSMS when we open it up. Is there a trick to get it to show up so our DBA can manage Veeam backups from within SSMS?We installed the plug-in with an account that was in the local Administrators group. We right-clicked and selected “run as administrator” when we launched the installer. We went through the Veeam Plugin Configuration application. But after all of that, when we open SSMS the Veeam toolbar doesn’t show up like it does in all of the demo videos. We’ve checked the “view” settings but Veeam plugin isn’t an option there.Any help what we are missing would be appreciated. Edit: Veeam 12.1.0.2131, SSMS v15.0.18369.0, Windows Server 2019 Standard

I have three backups jobs: one that runs once a week, one that runs every evening (Monday - Friday), and one that runs twice a day.  I want all of these backups to be copied to tape each night.  Currently, only the daily and bi-daily jobs are being copied.  Today’s logs states that no restore points were found for the weekly job between 05/11/2025 and 05/13/2025. (the last time the job ran was 05/10/2025)Is there any way to get this (weekly) job onto the tape each night?  I have synthetic fulls being made each night so that I get a full backup of all jobs on every tape.David

I’m loving the extra features of the calculators, especially the VSE. My issue is that they all seem to be targeted towards “Days” for the daily jobs with no option for “Restore Points”. Equally important, especially for multiple jobs run within a day. Does anyone have a method to “hack” this at the moment? I did try this, but it seemed higher than expected: 2-Hourly job, held for 31 days:12 (hourlies) X 31 (days) = 372 restore points. When I apply logic to that though, it’s really just saying “hold a daily restore point for 372 days”. Keen to see if there’s another way to calculate these types of scenarios, while using GFS.

I was looking for an alternative to Macrium Reflect for my home PC backup after I learned that their free version was no longer supported, and quite a few people recommended Veeam, so here I am having downloaded the free community version, but now that I’ve installed it, I think I’m in way over my head lol I am not a professional and have no experience or education in IT, but I have been able to follow instructions well enough to troubleshoot and maintain my own machine in most cases. All I want is to set up a straightforward and regular (as in repeating regularly) backup for my home pc on a local external drive, no servers, no ports, not on any cloud, but I can’t even get past the login screen. Having read this page in the help center it seems like I’ve either missed a few steps (I have no server to provide credentials for) or I no longer have the info it needs (if the credentials it wants are the ones I used to download the program, I don’t have them since I used throwaway email and

Hi all,I'm using Kasten K10 with a StorageClass set to Retain and Longhorn as the CSI driver. After snapshots are created by K10, they’re left in a detached state — which I understand is expected due to the Retain policy.However, is there a setting in the Helm chart (or elsewhere) that allows K10 to clean up these volumes/snapshots automatically after a backup is deleted? PS: A similar post have been created 3 years ago, but i were hoping that a fix had been provided. 

Hallo,weiß jemand ob es möglich ist eine Veeam NFR Lizenz als Schüler/ Student zu bekommen? Weil mein Homelab ist leider zu groß um es mit der Community Edition abzudecken, ich aber gerne vom Proxmox Backup Server auf Veeam Backup & Replication wechseln würde, für meine Backups.

Orchestrator Error, Veeam One Monitoring Service cannot access its database.Initially got the error, “The embedded Veeam Backup and Replication server is not Healthy, state = Communication Error”.So digging more into the issue showed the error above. When I ran VeeamOne client, it said it cannot connect to the Veeam One server.I noticed at the top of the client it shows Community EditionThis is weird, why would it say Community Edition, if VRO is showing a valid license I ran the Veeam One setting utility and was able to connect successfully  I opened a ticket to Veeam support and we have been going back and forth for almost 2 weeks now and no results yet. Hoping you folks can give me ideas where to go next.

When i migrate linux VM from vmware to hyper-v using instant recovery, the VM can boot up but when i migrate to production and the VM rebooted then the VM can’t boot up and stuck in dracut.Anyonw know why?

I was able to setup and add/use the initial disk to the Backup Repositories. However, I’m thinking, it we reach the maximum drive size, we would need to add a second immutable disk to the Backup Repositories. In doing so, I encountered the following error:Since this is a different mount point, I’m assuming it should work. I tried re-adding the veeamuser (username used to add the original immutable disk) to sudo group and reset the password but still unable to add the 2nd immutable disk to the Backup Repo. My objective is to create an immutable SOBR that would allow adding disks as needed.What do you think am I missing here? Thanks

Hey folks,I work for a Veeam Reseller/MSP and have a quick question about per-VM backup chains.We have a tenant who's switching their local backups from legacy to per-VM format. On our end, all of our Cloud Connect repos are already set up for per-VM.Once they make the switch locally, will their backup copy jobs to us just keep going with incrementals since our side is already per-VM? Or will this trigger a new full backup on the service provider side?Ideally, we’re hoping the chain just continues without needing a new full. Just wanted to check if anyone’s been through this and can confirm.Thanks!

Hello, We have a partner that currently has a VSPC of their own, with their customer backup servers connected for usage reporting. They used to get licensing directly themselves, and reported their numbers to Veeam, however they have switch to getting licenses via us.What would be the best way to get them set up as a reseller on our VSPC console and have all their customers show up underneath them?Would we have to recreate everything they have, then get their customers to install new management agents?Is there a way to export from their server and import into ours?Any ideas would be helpful.

Hi all,I have a feature request: can it be made possible to offload backups of Azure SQL databases created with Veeam for Microsoft Azure from VBR to Wasabi or other object storage using a copy job?At the moment this is possible for Azure VM's of which backups are made on blob storage. For Azure SQL it is only possible to make backups on blob storage so there is actually no offsite backup possible… 

I’ve got an Ubuntu 24.04 VM running in Proxmox VE which is backed up using Backup & Recovery Community edition.  The VM failed recently and I restored the VM back to Proxmox VE, but it just boots to Grub recovery. From what I understand, the problem is the VM is encrypted with LUKS which is transparent to Veeam.  I’ve read a few posts and guides on getting this to work, but I’m not having any luck.  I’m able to decrypt and mount the volume in a live environment, but I cannot get it to permanently mount in order to boot. Is there anything special that needs to be done for encrypted Ubuntu VMs in Proxmox or any guide for restoring LUKS VMs? 

I have moved VBR 12.3 to a Hyper-V VM as recommended. I would like to continue to use a set of USB drives for the backup copies. Is this possible?

Does anyone have recommendations for time settings on a Veeam hardened repo?  After researching, I’m seeing conflicting recommendations from use the internal CMOS clock, use an internal NTP server, or use an external NTP server.  Just wanted to see what some of the Veeam experts recommend.

As of the 27th March we have seen a significant increase in incremental backup size for our Microsoft 365 backup… Peaking at 800GB+ on the 31st! We have different jobs configured for different sources, for example we have separate jobs for:User Mailboxes Shared Mailboxes SharePoint Sites OneDrive SitesLooking at the size of each backup job, I think the increase in backup size is primarily due to the user mailbox jobs; the other jobs look ‘normal’ in terms of their size. Is anyone else seeing a sudden increase in backup size in the last couple of weeks?  Does anyone have any tips for pinpointing where the increase is coming from?
