Issue with SMTP Notification Emails After Update to Version 12

Dear Veeam Community,I hope this finds you well. I've encountered an issue after updating to Veeam Version 12 and was hoping someone might have come across a similar problem or can provide some guidance.**Problem Description:** After the update, I am unable to send notification emails. I consistently receive the error message: "Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings." I am certain of my credentials, having double-checked multiple times.Steps Taken:1. I've tried all configuration variants using both ports 587 and 465.2. When using port 465, I am able to apply the settings, but an error then displays.3. With port 587, the error surfaces after sending the test message.**Mail Server Error Logs:** From the logs, the following sections raised concerns:* `SASL login authentication failed`* `TLS library problem: error:14094412:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:sslv3 alert bad certificate`The error regarding the TLS library is particularly concerning.

Veeam v12 and StoreOnce replication issue

working in a client env with veeam v11 and 12….just upgraded to v12.we have issues with replication not working (started all of a sudden 3 weeks ago). Support said that it was a known issue in v11 and we needed to upgrade. Tbh I wasn’t convinced as its been working fine for some time.Anyway we upgraded to v12 but replication is still not working.You can see that the copy is seen as in-progress so Veeam is just trying to send data. You can also see on the storeonce side that Veeam files have landed/created with ZERO bytes. It just sits there for hours and you dont see any data being transmitted for some reason…..We do have a call with support but just wondered if you guys had any ideas. We’ve involved HPE and run scripts on the storeonce appliances which are able to send files between the devices (1G files, 10G files etc).

VAMW - Syncing with dropbox?

Hello,I am having problem syncing my backup files with dropbox. The problem comes from my vbk files which is around 1.9TB now. Dropbox needs 2 days in order to complete syncing that file, and if in the middle PC shuts down or goes into sleeping mode the syncing process will be reset (need 2 days again to sync).Moreover, when syncing Veeam Agent can’t proceed incremental backup because backup files are being used by dropbox. Last but not least, I thought the vbk file would not be changed (so it just needs to be uploaded to dropbox once) but I was wrong. So once there’s a change on the vbk file dropbox will need to upload a whole new vbk file again (needs 2 days syncing again).So, I wonder if anyone here has experience on this situation could give me some advice on it.Many thanks!

Veeam UI Capacity Labels

Hello. The question concerns the display of repository capacity in the Veeam user interface:In the EMC DD console, the capacity is displayed in TiB and is equal to 166.7 TiB. In the Veeam UI, after adding EMC DD as a repository, the same capacity is displayed, but with the TB label.If the size of repository is displayed in TB, then it should be approximately 182.5 TB.Is this a Veeam UI error?

Repository with Immutability Primary or Secondary Repository?

for a customer I have Veeam 12 installed and as primary Repository an Ubuntu Server with the possibility to configure immutability, as secondary I have a Gen4 HPE StoreOnce with also the possibility to configure immutability, where do you advise me to make immutability backups, on the Primary or Secondary Repository or on both ? (the two Repositories are in two different locations)

Restore Issue -Agent failed to process method

Has anyone found a better way or backing up a Raspberry PI to a veeam repository other than using a script to dd the entire SDCard to a SMB/CIFS share and then backing that up?

Backup of physical veeam fails after update V11 to V12

Hi,I would like to know if someone else had a issue after upgrading V11 to V12.The machine itself is also added to a Physical Veeam group who is taking backup of himself.Since the update it mentions that there are communication issues between both (same) servers.I have a case with Veeam, but they do not respond already for 2 days, what is odd.I do not want to investigate myself any longer, just curious if there is a simular case or experience with it with other members. Thank you!

DELL PowerEdge R740XD2 as repository but with SSD Cache

Hi allI often use a DELL PowerEdge R740XD2 as a Veeam Repository.This with a bunch of SAS HDD disks in RAID-60.Great as being a repository.But to make the disks even faster, I want to use 2x SSD disks to configure as a write cache so the backups can be written even faster.NICs are 10Gbit.As a RAID controller a PERC H730P is being used.Windows Server 2022 and REFS 64K is being used on the repo.This is a setup often being used in combination with Veeam.Cachecade is not possible anymore on the RAID controller.What options are there?Using 3rd party software to use the SSD disks as write cache. What software is recommended by Veeam and are you guys familiar with? Or just stay away from it because the extra performance is just limited? Thx for your feedback! regardsNico

Feature request - job activity 'follow latest'

Hello,Feature request for ‘Veeam Backup and Replication’ client. When viewing/selecting an active job provide the option to ‘Follow’ most recent activity. This is helpful if you have a job active with many objects in the job from a visibility perspective.Currently, if you have a job with 20 objects being backed up and you select an object in progress, when the object completes the viewed object stays displayed instead of following to the subsequent active object being backed up. Adding new proxy or Repo from adding proxy or repo wizard

Hello everyone,I faced a weird issue, I am not sure it’s normal or not, however it wasn’t like that before. The issue is when adding Proxy or Repo by clicking “Add New” it doesn’t work and show errors in the installation, however when add the machine in advance from adding servers, then add it as Proxy or Repo from the existing servers, it works. Please advise.

Backup file version mismatch: scale-out backup repository rescan is required.

Since upgrading to V12 VeeamBR (and having to revert to a snapshot due to critical error) I get this on every SOBR tier job. I have rescanned both the hypervs as well as the azure blob then ran tier job now but still get the same error every time Backup file version mismatch: scale-out backup repository rescan is required.

Migrating Veeam to workstation?

We’ve been running VBR on a 2012 R2 server for a long time but it’s time to get off of 2012.Is there a reason to keep running Veeam on a server? We’ve grown over the years and I have started putting VBR on Windows 10 workstations for remote offices and that has worked well.Do we need need to keep VBR on a server or is it save to migrate this over to a workstation?Interested in hearing why?Thanks!

Backup Service Not Starting

After doing a cold boot of the host server, the Veeam backup service has failed to run or come back online. When trying to connect through the client we receive the error message of “No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:9392”After checking the logs, we’ve found an error stating that it failed to fetch logical page (1:21805) in database 5 failed. It belongs to allocation unit 72057594191544320 not to 72057594190823424

WAN Accelerator

Hello,I’m planning to implement now Backup Copy Jobs over WAN Accelerators.Our Upload/Download speed is around 850Mbps on both locations That should be High Bandwidth mode as I already did some research.Now I would like to have some advices from you guys:We have 7 Backup Jobs with total of 20 VMs all combined I will connect Secondary Storage (Synology RS3621xs+) to a VM directly with Ethernet Cable via iSCSI. It will be formatted as ReFS (64KB)I have following questions:Is one to one WAN Accelerator enough or I should implement 2 Source WAN Acceleratros to 1 Target WAN Accelerator What are you’re best practices for scheduling the Backup Copy Job? I used Immediate Copying in last Backup config As I don’t need Global Cache for High Bandiwidth mode, can someone explain how WAN Accelerators are working with High Bandwidth mode Our Largest VM is 13TB, if that is something that can be helpful with advices.

Storage Snapshot Restore to a different volume

I’m trying to do Instant Recovery of a large server from a VeeamSourceSnapshot to a different volume. There is no option of doing this, what’s the workaround? We are using NetApp and it has a 100TB limitation on the volume size so this is the reason why I would like to restore to a volume that has more free space. Appreciate your input!

Perform full restoration test from Object storage (assume total loss)

Hi Team,I have a site that uses Wasabi object storage for both archiving and have “copy backups to object storage as soon as they are created” checked in the SOBR. This has been ticking away for some months now doing what I’d expect it to be doing. Now I need to test a full scale recovery from this environment, assuming we have a total loss of all on premises infrastructure, including the VBR server. I have spun up a new VM in our DR environment and installed VBR. My next step was to connect to the object storage bucket and attempt to recover VMs from this. But when I attempt to connect I get a warning “Selected object storage repository is already managed by another backup server. If you continue, all jobs currently using this repository will fail. Proceed?” I don't want the current jobs to fail, as this is only a test. Can I still connect to this repository and only read the objects without modifying it? Or can it be mounted in read only? Or is there another way I should be doing thi

Confused about "Secondary Target" for backup jobs

I apologize if this is a silly question. Here’s what I want to do - schedule backup jobs of VMs to disk repository, and then “clone” those backups to tape. So I‘ve set up backup jobs to my disk repository, and specified an ACTIVE FULL backup on Friday and Incremental backups (which is what I want), and scheduled it for every night. Additionally, I have create a Tape job, pointing to this backup job, and scheduled it to start the next morning.My question - the backup option for “Secondary Target” .. what exactly does that do? :-) Does that mean that the backup will go to my disk repository AND my tape library, all as part of one execution (i.e., does the tape part start as soon as the backup to disk finishes)? I already have the tape part executing on it’s own schedule, does this mean that the data will be sent to the tape *twice*, once by the scheduled tape job, and once as part of the “secondary target” option of the backup job? (which I don’t want).The documentation states “Backup
