Hello,I’m backing up a single physical server that uses about 128GB of storage. However, the “VM Size” as reported by the restore wizard is 834GB. Why so large? Thanks for any insight,FrankV drive is external USB USB drives are excluded
SQL restart when doing Instant DB recoveryThe Database went offline and in Recovery Pending state. It is currently doing Instant DB Recovery. Is it safe to restart SQL to bring the Database online without affect transactions already in the cache folder? Would it affect the Instant DB recovery process (I don’t think so but better to ask). What other processes should we consider before doing a restart of the SQL? Thanks.
Hi,We have a requirement of setting up a DR for VM’s running on Nutanix AHV to VMWare / Hyper-V running on HP server. Is this possible with Veeam ? Customer is using Veeam enterprise plus license. Please advise the possibilities.
I recently upgraded my Veeam One to version 11 (and yes looking at v12 soon) and the scheduled PDF reports use to come in landscape but are now showing in portrait mode. Basically I want the report data to not be split across 2 different pages. I vaguely remember I had to change something in V10, but can’t remember if it was a browser setting, registry setting, or something else.I do not currently have the SQL reporting services installed, but can do so. And how can this setting stick to version 12?
TL;DR: The first comment I’ve made, after this post, is details of specific problems, and doesn’t really need to be read unless you want to give advice on the specifics. The second comment is more significant, as is this post.As I seem to be continually fighting against Veeam's overall design/features/capabilities to make things work for over a year now I thought I'd ask a general planning question to determine if maybe there's just a better way to be using Veeam that isn't what we're doing now. Since I imagine we can't possibly the only company that provides a managed cloud-based backup service using Veeam, but isn't a full MSP.Fair warning, this is going to be a little ranty, but I've been dealing with this on a daily basis for over a year now and so my frustration with trying to make it work is rather high.My main goal here is to not really "start over" but essentially act like I'm starting over, and determine if maybe the entire way I'm using Veeam should be done differently. Shoul
Hello the Veeam Server (out of domain) cannot connect to VM, because the are not whit FQDN. Where can i change che servername whit fqdn?Thank a lotRegardsAlfred
Hello everyone, I take this opportunity to leave here the video library recordings for all the on-demand sessions that are now available! 🎦🤓I take this opportunity to ask you which VMware Explore 2023 Las Vegas announcement seemed most interesting to you?💡 Tip: I would start by looking at the KeyNotes 🕺🏼The VMware Explore 2023 Las Vegas - Video Library recordings
Well today I had a discussion with Packt Publishing about the potential for writing a book on vSphere 8. So, this will be on top of my current Veeam books and branches into virtualization, mainly vSphere that I also know.If there is anyone out there that has thought about writing or collaborating on a book reach out to me as I am still debating on doing this one solo. Even if you have just topics that you would like to see covered would be a great help. 😁More to come on this possible new adventure.
As a service provider we regularly have customers with unstable internet connections for some or all of their devices, some on slow DSL connections, some on cellular hotspots, some that have high speed connections that still fail from time to time. In my experience this is one major place where Veeam fails miserably when compared to other software, it doesn’t handle poor connections very well. I figure this is mostly another aspect of Veeam that’s leftover from the original “in-house” design Veeam originally had for backing up VMWare systems locally, but now that it’s more widely used by service providers backing up over the internet, it doesn’t seem to work very well in my experience.I’m curious if other people have had similar issues and what you may have done to resolve it. I’ll admit that I’m really tired of having to implement more tweaks and workarounds and fudging with registry keys and configuration files in order to make Veeam work when I know I could just be using other softw
Hi,is SureReplica in Azure VMware Cloud possible? Replica VMs are placed in vSAN.The idea is to provide a permanent DR Test with a daily new Lab und masqueraded VMs.

Hi Team, Needed your help on this, Am trying to install Veeam VeeamBackup&Replication_11.0.1.1261_20220302 and getting below error. Setup logs does not mention anything.
Hi,After an upgrade to B&R 12 i need to deploy components to my offsite immutable repo.I run “sudo veeamhubrepo”, chose the default user and press enter, but ssh is never enabled so my B&R server cant connect. I recall seeing a note in the header of veeamhubrepo once about SSH being enabled, but now it just showing the IP. Any hints?
Hi EveryoneLooking for an advice on the best way to keep backup repository data replicated to off-site for redundancy. The setup is: 2x hardened Linux repositories each on Synology NAS.At the moment the backups are copied using backup copy jobs, however it would not copy all of the backup data chain, just backups created after the creation of the backup copy job.I would like to keep both repositories in full sync in case on of them is lost because of the disaster.
I seem to have a lot more issues with Hyper-V that I do VMware. I was curious what you all’s overall experience is? In particular, Veeam does not seem to like clusters and I see lots of issues with checkpoint creations that pop up.
Hey there,I hope this message finds you all well. I've been encountering some frustrating issues with my cloud solutions lately, specifically related to backups. I thought it would be a great idea to reach out to this knowledgeable community for some advice, insights, and hopefully, a solution to my problem. The Problem: Backup Issues in Cloud SolutionsFor some time now, I've been using various cloud solutions to store and manage my data. I've always heard about the convenience and reliability of cloud backups, which is why I decided to rely on them for my important files, documents, and even some irreplaceable memories in the form of photos and videos. However, lately, I've been experiencing persistent problems with my cloud backups. It seems like my data isn't backing up correctly or consistently, and I'm genuinely concerned about the safety and accessibility of my information. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my cloud service provider, my settings, or something else entirely.I'm not
Hi all, I am looking for the way to manage the number of concurrent tasks on repository. Two questions regarding it.I was expecting it to be the option of CBackupRepository object but doesn’t seems so. So how to retrieve the current configured number? Whats the difference between LimitConcurrentJobs and MaxConcurrentJobs options in Set-VBRBackupRepository commandlet and which on is actually reflect the option in UI?Cheers,Alexey
Hi, I would like to know, what if my customer have 2 VMs Windows Server and using file share with SMB protocol, do i have to backup those VMs as VMs or File Share ? according to Veeam Best Practices
Did you know that there is a very useful Veeam tool to validate the integrity of your backups? In some cases, a backup can get corrupted due to accidental changes in the backup file data. For example, the file can be damaged after transfer over the network or from hardware failures on the backup storage side. With Veeam Backup Validator, you can quickly verify the integrity of any backup file, without extracting the VM data from the archive.Veeam Backup Validator is a command-prompt CRC check utility that tests a backup at the file level. For integrity validation, Veeam Backup Validator uses the checksum algorithm. When Veeam Backup & Replication creates a backup of a VM, it calculates a checksum for every data block in the backup file and attaches these checksums to the data blocks. Veeam Backup Validator re-calculates checksums for data blocks and compares them against the initial checksum values. If the results match, the backup file is viable. This works similarly to the backu
Hey everyone, I heard that the all new VMCE exam might be coming out soon? Is this just fantasy? cheers
With VBR v12 Linux proxy server can get a new role! A Linux server can become a Tape Server. We will see more details like supported Linux distributions and versions with general availability of v12.But I would bet on one thing: Linux Hardened Repository Server will be excluded from this feature – for security reasons.
Hi everyone,Does anyone know if there is a way to report on the outcome of the Storage Level Corruption Guard tests? I need to provide proof of backup integrity and I’m still a few months away of being able to have a SureBackup environment set up.
HelloI'm looking for some command or script that returns me:VM name -> Tape on which the backup was saved.Similar to the process obtained via the Home >> Backups >> Tape (Properties in a tape job).
Dear all,Today, we are pleased to announce the winner of the August Blog of the Month, @Iams3le ,with his blog Deterrent Control: Implement Logon banners for your VBR Server . Congratulations! 👏💚😻 Best, Madi
One of the must-have features for providing access security for any sensitive application is the ability to implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) as part of the login process. The release of Veeam Backup and V12 added the ability to enable Multi-factor authentication for logging into the Veeam console (including the remote console). The details:Before discussing the setup and configuration of MFA, we should discuss what MFA apps are supported.Veeam Backup and Replication supports Time-Based One-Time Passwords (TOTP) as per RFC 6238 installed on a mobile device. For example, the following MFA TOTP applications are supported:Microsoft Authenticator Google Authenticator LastPass Authenticator DUO Okta Verify Many more are listed if you do a quick internet search ;)A console auto-logout time can also be set to ensure that a user gets logged out of the Veeam console after a configurable period of inactivity. Configuring MFA:Step 1:Access the Users and Groups selection on the options
