I had a problem with our host server in production and I had to activate the replicas on our second backup host, later I applied permanent Failover, after reestablishing the first host that had the problem, I created replica routines from the backup host server to the main one and I applied permanent Failover, finally, I recreated the replication routines from the main server to the backup server, however, it is no longer working, an error keeps appearing that I couldn't find on the community forum. Failed to process replication task Error: Failed to create planned VM configuration (path: 'D:\9ca0c3d4671a45888343cf0b4ef75605(20)\Virtual Machines\545b475e-2040-49fe-bffb-d9133f3739f4.vmcx'). [WMI] Empty result.

We have a Dell Esxi host server that failed to come back online. In our contract Dell will try to make it work correctly or replace. Anyways, we have had a full chassis, except for harddrives, and new NIC cards installed. While it ran, for a few short days, my backups were failing with the message: Error: Unable to process the VM: your socket license has been exceeded. Install an extended license, or migrate protected VMs to the licensed hosts.  The backups work as expected when the faulty server is off but when it comes back the errors reappear. What do I need to do to get licensing straightened out again? All worked fabulously for years until about a month ago.Thanks 

Hello, Thanks, Please help!From VBAR, i got a message to update, but after that, i cannot start the console, backups are not happening any more.In addition, VeeamBackupSvc will not start. cannot run backups.I rebooted a few times, re-ran the update, it always completed without error.Note: this is my home server. the console is running local on the VBR server.Not sure exactly how to debug and solve this?   when i try to run the console, i get  From event viewerService cannot be started. Hallo zusammen,einer meiner Kunden möchte auf einem Veeam-Server (Simple Deployment, Bare-Metal) genau wissen, auf welcher Ebene wann welche Änderung im Veeam durchgeführt wurde. Sprich zum Beispiel:Wann wurde die Funktion XY im Job XY von wem geändert? Hat da jemand Erfahrung mit? Welche Logs benötige ich bzw. wird das in der Detailtiefe überhaupt geloggt?Der zeitliche Faktor, wie lange die Analyse dauert, ist erstmal zweitrangig sobald ich weiß, wo ich suchen könnte. Steht sowas in den Logs drin, die man auch für den Support generiert? Danke vorab & viele Grüße aus NRW!Lukas

I know  veeam support will only knows which logs to review but for knowledge purpose can somone  please share the log files to investigate for each Veeam component like, backup job, replication, restore, surebackup, sobr, cloud backups, proxy server, repository, tape backup etc and if any tool to investigate logs 

I’m moving an artesca S3 bucket to another veeam host. The repo is part of a SOBR with a storeonce primary target. Rescan option cant be done directly on the repo but can on the SOBR…..however it seems to fail.  I’m concerned when moving to the new server, we wont see old backups. Thoughts??

Hallo zusammen,ich bräuchte bitte nochmal eure Hilfe und zwar würde ich gern final ein Backup zusätzlich zu einem NAS-Backup, auf ein RDX Quickstore USB Bandlaufwerk sichern. Da ich das Gerät in der Hyper-V Umgebung nicht so schön wie in vmware durchschleifen kann, habe ich es an einen Silex USB Server mit USB 3.0 Anschluss gehängt. Die Frage wäre nun, wie ich das Backup in Veeam einrichte? Meine Idee wäre einfach ein “Direct attached storage”-Backup Repository hinzuzufügen, da das RDX ganz normal als Laufwerk in meinem Explorer auftaucht und die Option “This respository is backed by rotated drives” in den Advanced-Einstellungen zu setzen. Das sollte klappen, oder? MfG

Hi ALL,I am running VBR11 and VBAz 4.0, recently all my AzureVM backup started failing. I still have over 3months of license validity.I can no longer connect to the VBA from my VBR console only can access from the browser.We are getting the following error; "Client secret has expired. Use a valid client secret or renew the application on the Service Account Type tab.This was done however the issue still persists.My Infra is still running older systems so upgrade was not an option hence no support available.Any thoughts?

Hi, we have applied the available security patches and upgraded our Veeam backup Azure version 6 to 7 Yesterday. Since then, we are unable to go to the url that the FLR creates for any of our restore requests using Veeam appliance portal. We have not made any change in Azure or in Veeam side except applying these updates. We have checked and all permission for service accounts are fine, the NSG in Azure clearly shows allowing port 443 for the worker instances vnet /subnet so we cant really think of anything else that could cause this issue. We have raised a support case with Veeam as well and they have asked us to try the worker IP address to browse to the URL that we also tried without any luck: Any advice would be highly appreciated. I need to restore a VM to a vApp in VMware Cloud Director.  The Veeam docs say to “Launch VMware Cloud Director Entire VM Restore Wizard”. When I right click on the Backup that I need to restore, “Restore entire VM >” does not appear in the Context menu as it shows in the Veeam docs.I see “Restore entire VM to Nutanix AHV...”, but not the “Restore entire VM >” as shown in the Veeam docs.I am using Veeam 12.1.1.56 Community Edition, in case that matters.Any help is much appreciated.

I’m just learning this software and I was wondering what were to happen if my backup server computer was destroyed or something went wrong and how I would be able to access the backup from a new computers server?I saw this article:  https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/importing_backups.html?ver=120But it mentions:The server from which you plan to import backups must be added to the backup infrastructure. Otherwise, you will not be able to access backup files.So I am wondering - how can I add that server to a new computers server if the original server is gone?  Would this mean those backups are never able to be recovered?  

Hello,Next year i will buy dedicated BareMetal server for VBR, tape drive and Azure HCI node for hypervisor.Currently i propose install VBR on BareMetal server and use local hdd as repository and as tape server also.Also i have another thought to install linux on the BareMetal and install VBR on the VM inside Azure HCI. But with this scenario, can i use that linux server as tape server also?Which two scenario above is best and whether anyone here have another best scenario also?

Hopefully someone here can help me:I have two Windows Clusters, one in Site A and one in Site B.  Inside these windows clusters are two Windows File Server Clusters as guest clusters consisting of three nodes in Site A (FS_CLUSA) and two nodes in Site B (FS_CLUSB) .  Each fileserver cluster is using a shared vhdx file as the storage volume.Ideally I would like to replicate FS_CLUSA → FS_CLUSB however Veeam does not support replication of virtual machines with shared VHDX or CSV volumes.We settled on the idea of simply doing a volume level backup of FS_CLUSA and restoring it to FS_CLUSB to keep the two clusters up to date (give or take a few hours).  I have been able to restore the volume from FS_CLUSA to FS_CLUSB via the console no problem, because I can specify a different target to the host.However reading the veeam powershell documentation to start to automate this process, leads me to the command Start-VBRComputerVolumeRestore (which only supports restoration to the original locati
