Hello,I want to recover one computer account password from Veeam B&R credentials, I followed the KB4349 article, but I was unable to locate the DATA key under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication to view the EncyptionSalt value. I didn’t found any article or guide for such case, can anyone guide me how to find the EncryptionSalt value if it is not available in registry?
Hello,if I understand it correctly, in Veeam 12 the backup health check is performed independently from the backup copy job.In my case that leads to a problem because the backup repository which is the target for the backup copy job is only switched on for the backup (powering on and powering off is done by job scripts in the backup copy job).Is there any solution for this?In my opinion there are several ways that would lead to a solution:Starting health check immediately after the backup before the after job script. But that could not be configured any more or I didn’t find it. Adding the functionality to execute scripts before and after the health check. Starting health check manually from the command line. Then I could execute a script which starts the repository, performs the health check and power off again. I found powershell commands to perform a backup health check, but that doesn’t work anymore. Hello - total newbie here,I installed CE 12.1.0.2131 on Windows 10 Pro (desktop computer type) I wanted to try creating a simple backup job to see how it works. I intend to chose just a single folder of files to be backed up. I am in Home > Backup Job > New Agent Backup Job > Tab = “Objects”I checked the box for “The following file system objects:” It displays a windows form with a single line text box, I do not see any buttons to open a file picker dialog box to be able to select just the single folder I want to backup.I see a similar constraint when I click “Next” to go to the tab labeled “Local Storage”. There is just a text box on a form and no file picker dialogs. I need to type the full path to the storage location where I want the backup to be written to. Is this intended behavior to not be able to use a file picker dialog box? Is this a limitation of the Community Edition? Thank you.

Hi, We’re going to upgrade our vCenter to 8.0U1 and the process as far as we can tell involves creating a new vCenter with the same IP but different hostname (i.e. I can’t find an upgrade process that retains the same name for the vCenter). Just wondering what the impact of that name change would be to our existing Veeam backup jobs if they are all set to contact the vCenter on the old name. I’ve tried searching the community for “VCSA name change” and “vCenter name change” but have come up empty. Has no one else found this to be a problem? Or did we miss something and there is a way to retain the old vCenter hostname?
My SubscriptionsHi everyone, what is the difference between Veeam Data Platform and Veeam Data Platform Advanced?I plan to upgrade our VBR server to v12 from v11. It does have Veeam ONE on it. Orchestrator is on its own server. I assume I want the Veeam Backup & Replication ISO and Veeam ONE ISO. However, I’m wondering what am I missing out if I don’t get the “Advanced” ISO. Thanks!
Hi, I am new to Veeam Backup. On a Dell PowerEdge R7515 running Windows 2022 Standard, I have a 67 terabyte REFS volume where I store Veeam backups under a folder called “vault” (see screenshot below). In Windows Explorer, when I check the size of the “vault” folder (by right-clicking on the folder name and going to Properties) it says the “Size on disk” is more than 67.6 terabytes (see below). This folder contains one .vbm file and a few .vbk and .vib files. However, when I check the properties of the physical disk volume under Disk Management utility (diskmgmt.msc), it says that I still have about 31.9 terabytes left on disk meaning that ONLY about 35 terabytes of data is used with about 48% free (see below). Also, I do not have data duplication role installed on this server. Could someone shed some light on this extremely large discrepancy between disk volume size and folder size? Thank you! Hello,I’m a new Veeam Agent for Windows user and so far I loved it, just used it to backup and restore my system, went like a breeze!So I set up weekly system drive backups and what I noticed is that the first backup was full, and the 2nd backup is incremental.Can I set up the backup task so it will take weekly FULL backups and keep the last 2 full backups, deleting older ones?
Hi, built a new home server just in time to test the new 12.1 Community Edition. Everything seems to work fine except I can’t seem to create a usb recovery stick. When I click on Recovery Media, I get an error message that says “Cannot find backup file for <Server Name>”. I’ve created a backup on this server and it finished successfully. Anyone else run into this issue?Thanks!
Hi, I'm a new user trying the Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition v12.1 for the first time. I’ve installed Veeam on a Windows 10 computer, and was able to make a backup of all the drives from a client computer also running Windows 10. But when I tried to restore a file from the backup, I got the error message shown below. I am initiating the restore via the Veeam console running on the same computer as the Veeam Backup and Replication Community Edition. Restore failed Error: Neither Installer service nor Admin$ file share are available Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

So I have an issue. We backup to disk (a Data Domain, in our case), and from there, copy to tape. So I have 2 jobs - a backup job that writes to the DD, and a tape job (set as secondary target). Backup job is set to make an active full once a week (usually on a Friday), and the other days are incrementals. Pretty standard so far.My issue: on the weekend, we ran out of blank tapes in the library. I had to cancel the running tape job (which was trying to write out the Friday FULL backup). I got some new blanks, and loaded them. But the Monday tape job went to write out the (missed) Friday FULL backup, instead of just doing the Monday incremental. The FULL job is like 4 TB, no way it will finish in time before the next night’s incremental backup will start up. I had to change the scheduled start to “Not scheduled”, just so it would have enough time to finish (else it would have been interrupted by that evening’s incremental job). Good morning, I'm trying to install VEEAM 9.5 on a WINDOWS 10 that is virtualized in VMWARE 8, but at the time of installation it gives me a certificate error with ID 110, according to KB2137, I would have to contact VEEAM support, the guy who helped me couldn't solve it, so I came to the community to see if anyone had experienced this problem. With VEEAM 10 AND VEEAM 12 we were able to install but 9.5 generates this error, but I need Veeam 9.5 because the others do not accept VCENTER 5.1, another detail when I install VEEAM 9.5 on VMWARE 6.7 it works correctly.

In my lab the following recommendations are marked as passed :For the first one if I look in the configuration of my proxies the NBDSSL is not checked For the second, I don’t have configure encryption for the LAN backup networkSo I don’t know why by default Veeam mention them as passed. I built a Hardened Repository using the ISO provided here many months ago. Very happy with it, until I decided to upgrade Veeam to 12.1. Now it wants to update components on the Hardened Repository end or it will no longer be usable, which it can’t. Is there a workflow to deal with this or do I have to start all over again on the Hardened Repository side?

I have a basic question. I am using VMWare ESXi Free license and the Free Veeam Backup. Was using just the Windows Agent for a long time but am now using the Backup and Recovery 12. I have an OLD ESXi host running a Windows 2012 Essentials server, and a new ESXi host I am transferring it to for legacy purposes. For Testing I originally just copied the Virtual Machine files to the new box, registered the VM and that worked. When I finally decided to actually move the machine I tested by restoring a backup from Veeam windows agent to the VM as a bare metal recovery. This worked the first time, and the second time. I was testing on the weekends after hours so there was a week between. The next week I decided to actually do it following the procedure that had been successful previously. The restore said it completed successfully, but the server would not boot normally and went to the Recovery Console. It apparently had problems with the active directory database.I tried this several more t
Hello,I have a Hyper-V host with 2012 R2 on it and already added to Veeam as a host and it was working fine.One day I found a VM backup job fail.I tried to rescan the host and found the error Access Denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))I tried to edit the host and check the credentials and found I removed the job and removed the host and tried to add it again but the same error in image above appears.I don’t know where the issue comes from.
