Solved

Hello,I am working as System, Virtu and Backup engineer.Currently designing a VBO architecture for a customer who has a huge amount of data in Azure O365.I see everywhere on the forums problems with VBO 1st backup speed even on quite small environment.Do you have any reference or use cases about customers with more than 5000 users, or 5000 SharePoint sites and how long it took to perform the fisrt backup ?Is VBO well suited for this kind of customer with more than 100 TB of data in AZURE to INGEST ?Would it be a good strategy to fix a short retention (5 days) to catch few object on the first run and then change it to 10 days for the 2nd run and so on in order to reduce the overall amount for each run ? Or does not make sense as after each retention change the job will start as if it is the first time ?

Hello Everyone I going to deploy VOR for one of my customer soon as PoC purpose. Any suggestions for me? If anyone have can you please share best practice document for VOR.

Hi,Though I know the answer but still curious to know, Can anyone migrated backed up data from HP Data Protector to Veeam Backup & Replication?  Is there any automation/Tool available to perform this? Secondly, if my VBR 9.5 Tape Server is running on Windows 2008 & I am installing a new VBR V11a on Windows 2019 with new tape server & Drives.  Does new VBR V11 will be able to read the files from old tapes? Regards,Sunny

Hi all,I have an issue on our Veeam ONE server and I could not find the root cause of performance charts delay. The server has been upgraded to Veeam ONE v11 recently and the issue happened after upgrade.Deployment type: Advanced Scalability Deployment modeDatabase: External SQL Server 2019There is no performance issue on the server. Monitoring server and database server are placed on Flash datastore. Could you please help me to resolve the issue if there is misconfiguration?

Hi,Does anyone know how to get Veeam to copy the Full backup + incrementals to tape daily? As in each day a new tape has both.  Alternativly I would be happy for it to create a synthetic full to tape each day.Ideally i dont want to do a reverse incremental incase they decide to go to cloud as well at a later date.Veeam just seems to refuse to backup files it already has on another tape! Thanks for the help.

Dear All, I would just like to know, if I want to protect my Azure workload using Veeam backup for Azure by downloading the preconfigured appliance available in marketplace, Can I use Veeam universal licenses file onto it. I dont want to create any VBR Server either on-premise or hybrid. Any help or support is highly appreciated. Regards,Sunny

Hi Folks,I am on my test TCE setup. I have a small nginx pod running with a pvc that is has storage provisioned from csi-vsphere-driver. Snapshots are working without issues but the export to VBR is failing with a “failed to create Kopia repository for data export” “Unsupported location type” The location was added without issues. I am now looking through the other logs as well. cheers

Hey guys, I require your suggestionIf I have stored backups in local repo in NTFS format and later realized it should be in refs, what should be the next step?Should I format the current repo into Refs or I add another repo of Refs and move the backups?

Can a support ticket be raised without providing a support ID ?

As part of the audit findings, the auditor is looking for the history or evidence that Veeam Backup and Replication were being patch regularly. Is there a way I can extract this?

Hi,I have k8s cluster installed on vshpere.I have added to kasten a veeam profile as well as a vsphere infra profile.Backing up and restoring of k8s manifests + persistent volumes in the same cluster works just fine. But how can I restore to a new cluster (runs on vsphere as well and has the same profiles) ?The way to do it seems to be via export, but the export operation fails with the following error: ```cause:  cause:    cause:      cause:        cause:          cause:            cause:              fields:                - name: type                  value: VBR              file: kasten.io/k10/kio/kopia/profile.go:140              function: kasten.io/k10/kio/kopia.(*K10Profile).locationType              linenumber: 140              message: Unsupported type for the location            file: kasten.io/k10/kio/kopia/repository.go:327            function: kasten.io/k10/kio/kopia.repositoryConnectCommand            linenumber: 327            message: Failed to generate blob store args

As part of our audit findings on Veeam Backup and Replication v11a, is there a report or way I can extract a deleted disk file or backup file in the storage?

Hey guys,If my license in veeam has come to an expiration, I should add new license from the same account right so it won’t cause an issue in backups?

Hello, Recently, the Veeam B&R server was updated to the 11.1.0. (). When I first opened Veeam Console, The “Components Update” wizard was initiated and the update processes were started. The update of the veeam server failed with the status “Failed to upgrade host components. Error: 'Error 1714. The older version of Veeam Agent for Linux Redistributable cannot be removed.” What can I try?

Hallo zusammen! Das initiale Fullbackup läuft auch aber jeder weitere Start des Backup-Jobs bringt den Fehler:      04:30:16         [error] Failed to perform backup      04:30:16         [error] Input/output error      04:30:16         [error] POSIX: Failed to read data from the file [/Fritz-Server/Intenso-USB3-0device-01/Datensicherung/edomi Edomi-Veeam/Edomi-Veeam.vbm]      04:30:16         [error] Unable to read data from file      04:30:16

I performed a full backup  on one of the Severs via Veeam Standalone backup agent. I want to test if that “full backup” is an accurate one.So, what I would like to do it restore that “full backup” on a different VM or a Windows Server. So I can compare. Is it possible?

Recently, I am playing around TCE(Tanzu Community Edition) 0.10 in my homelab. I found something interesting and would like to share my findings here. The environment is like below:vSphere vCenter: 7.0.3ESXi: 7.0.3TCE: 0.10Kubernetes : v1.21.5+vmware.1vSphere CSI: csi.vsphere.vmware.comk10: 4.5.10/4.5.11Location profile: Minio S3/VBR v11aThe backup policy :So that the policy will keep 1 daily snapshot in vSphere FCD. I can see the snapshot vmdk from the datastore after successful policy runs.I can also do a restore job from my Minio S3. The restore job seems to work fine. But if I restore it into the original namespace and the original application is still existing, I may get an alarm from the vSphere side. The error message is “A specified parameter was not correct: id Cannot be performed on FCD with snapshots.”The reason for this alarm is k10 kicks off a pvc deletion task from Kubernetes side and Kubernetes passes it to vSphere directly. But from the vSphere side, the pvc is mapping to

Investigating another issue where 2 VM’s have GPU’s thus VMware will not allow a snapshot of the VM’s. I am sure this question has been asked before, how can I backup these VM’s? They are running on vSphere 6.7 and the machines are Red Hat Linux 8 using an NVIDIA GPU. Also have a question about the jobs. All the VM’s were added using the vCenter server at the top level. So when these VM’s fail it seems to me the entire job get’s killed. These 2 VM’s fail, then I get a message all VM’s have been queued for processing and then a job error/failure message and it ends.
