@Anandu @dips

Support ID is only needed for support of paid products. If you have the community edition installed, you can raise a support case without any Support ID. Same is valid for products with an evaluation license. Veeam will not ask for the Support ID. You can see that in my screenshot under this answer. Just choose VBR under evalation or free products. Support is then on best effort. Case maybe closed if veeam hasn’t the time and resources to help you out.

But be aware of the license agreements. If this VBR Environment is from a client of yours, then you are not allowed to provide them any services or process any third party data. The free product is only for you and your own company.

@Anandu If you are asking about a clients backup server, you must sell them a license or your are forbidden to help them out by the Veeam EULA (Chapter 4.0 Free Licenses and Community Edition Licenses). You can’t even provide them support for the existing installation, consulting or implementation services. Your Client needs a enduser license (VUL) or you can register yourself as a veeam service provider and use rental licensing for providing services to your clients.

Free and Community Edition License products can be used in Your own production environment and only by You in accordance with the terms and conditions of this EULA and the Licensing Policy. You may not use the Free and Community Edition Licenses to provide services to third parties (including support and consulting services for existing Free and Community Edition License installations) or to process third party data.

Thanks @Mildur

I’m so used to supporting the paid products, the Free and Community Editions skipped my thoughts.

Does support ID is required when raising a case for licensing management?

of course. Each license has a support id attached. If you need a case for your license, you have a support id. If you don’t have a support ID, you don’t have a license.

What do you want to know from veeams license support? License support is mainly for transferring licenses to new license administrators or if you have issues with your owned license. If you don’t have a license, I don’t think they can help you.

If you have license releated questions about what you can do, you must ask this your veeam sales representatives or your distributor/partner. This are the right people for explaining license related product questions.
