Hi,

Does anyone know how to get Veeam to copy the Full backup + incrementals to tape daily? As in each day a new tape has both.  Alternativly I would be happy for it to create a synthetic full to tape each day.

Ideally i dont want to do a reverse incremental incase they decide to go to cloud as well at a later date.

Veeam just seems to refuse to backup files it already has on another tape!

Thanks for the help.

I think maybe a Backup Copy Job to tape would do the job

with rotate drive selected

You have a tape library and tape pools defined in your Veeam?

Then you can setup tape jobs to accomplish your described requirements. Let me see, if I can get you a guide for this.

If you use a new tape each day a synthetic full is generated on tape automatically.

In addition to what my comrades have added, the following links might be worth taking a look at.

For synthetic full backup to tape, the following discussion in this link might be useful to you as well.

From what I remember when backup to tape happens the latest backup chain is copied to tape which would be both full and incrementals.  You can check the help here which explains this - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/creating_backup_to_tape_jobs.html?ver=110
