Hi There, I deployed Oracle Plugin for Linux to use Oracle RMAN database backup but during the wizard in repository section it didn’t list all repos that I’ve got it only show the default veeam repo but the SMB share repo not shown in the list ! Did I miss something here in the configuration? Coz I want the backup to be stored in SMB share repo not the in the disk of the veeam server. Thank you

Hi,backup server is running 2x10Gbps NICs and it is in VLAN with Netapp iSCSI AFF device. I have also 1Gbps network card for management purpose.  Also these two network cards are in trunk so they are doing 20Gbps now (at least I think they are doing it :-) )Integration between Netapp and Veeam is configured using management ports of the Netapp which is in different VLAN reachable by this 1Gb NIC from backup server. So, I can see snapshots on Netapp but backup is being done slow (probably using 1Gb NIC). How to force Veeam to use these 10Gbps NICs instead of 1Gbps NIC? Is there a KB for this integration to read how to setup this?Thank you.

Hello Team, When creating a backup policy with export to external storage, a migration token is being created in form of a kubernetes secret in `kasten-io` namespace. The token can be then used in import policy, to migrate the data between two clusters.key values redacted for brevity.When we were trying to define the secret and token by ourselves, we received the following errors:It seems like the secret, apart from being base64 encoded is encrypted (perhaps using Kasten’s master key?), therefore, when it tries to decipher a custom secret, the result is an empty string.Is it possible to define custom migration token in backup policies? This would be helpful as we are deploying Kasten’s blueprints, policies, bindings etc. using Kustomize and instead of providing the plain receive string to the import policy, we would like to patch the receiveString using the custom token value from the secret as a target.Thanks in advance.

Hello! I’m using Veeam Agent for Windows 6.0.2.1090 (free edition) for my backups. I have it set to hibernate my PC after the backup is completed. However, I find that even though the wake + backup + hibernation is successful, the next time I wake the PC after a backup, shortly afterwards, it hibernates without me doing anything. Backing up the OS on a W10 Pro system, to USB RDX cartridge. Backs up the C drive, WinRETools, then hangs backing up a 10.9GB restore partition at 10.8. Been going for over an hour and a half this try. Tried letting it go overnight and it stopped with a red x. Also tried backing up just a 10GB Folder and it completed and then said there was no restore point when I tried to “mount” the backup to restore a file. These were just test runs, will probably just wait and try again when there is another version. Not sure if anyone else had seen such.  

Hello to all,It’s me again with the new topic. 😁I have question about Retention Policy.How the chain is going to be deleted?As I try to figure out it should be when the file is created and from that day it will be available before the retention policy in my case “14” days is over.On the 15th day it will be erased or?This is my current settings: I have active full backups on the first Friday.We are doing full backups on Friday and the rest is incremental.Can someone give me more information on retention policy and also on the Synthetic full backups periodically.Thank’s to all the forum users.Probably the best forum in my opinion.  

Hi, I recently updated vcentre and had to create a new backup task as the old one was no longer working. However, I noticed that veeam backup created many orphan files as a result of each backup and I have to go to vcentre to consolidate these backup.  The files are named as MyVM-000001-ctk.vmdk, MyVM-000001.vmdk and it goes on for a while till in my case, 000046. I also note that there was some information displayed - “MyVM has stuck VM snapshot, will attempt to consolidate periodically” I am on veeam backup and replication version 11. This was working well previously before the vcentre upgrade.  Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am new to using Veeam and in my small laboratory I am testing rotating disks :I have a retention policy of 21 and I have 3 disks (one per week) : If I understand correctly it would be 7 per disk The question is: if I use Forever Forward Incremental when the disk already has 7 points and I connect it again, will it merge the old incremental and save only full backup? Thanks

I’ve been wanting to do these for years, however as I understand you must do the course first. From what I can tell (at least in the last 8 years) the course has never been held here in New Zealand. Can anyone recommend a training provider in Australia that provides virtual training for this? Thanks.

We been instructed to change our environment from a tape library system to a ejectable tape.  We can fit a set of our most critical data on a single LTO-8 tape, and have it changed daily by our Colo. The tape library will be maintained for the “nice to have” data.The basic goal is to be able to restore critical data with nothing remaining of the VEEAM install but a tape and a printed copy of the encryption password. To table top this:  We would like to have a single daily tape that has all of our incremental and synthetic fulls written to it.  There is plenty of room for this as the existing repo has only 6.4TB used in it.  The whole repo directory simple needs moved to tape daily when the job is complete.  Q1:  Is the basic goal here achievable?Q2: What type of tape job can ensure that both the increments and the synthetic fulls make it onto every days tapes? TIA

Hi All,  We are looking to understand the capabilities of Veeam RO and how it can assist with DR.  We have 2 x VMware Virtual Machines that are Windows SQL Servers Storage for VMs OS Disks is on VMware VMFS Datastores presented via NFS from NetApp These form a SQL Cluster Storage for SQL Data Shared Disks is presented via iSCSI to the VMs (In-guest iSCSI) via the Microsoft iSCSI Imitator so both VMs can see the same storage. We want to configure DR for this cluster with Veeam RO What is the best way to achieve this with vRO?Thanks, 

I tried to add my certificate according to this page: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/hyperv/import_tls_pfx.html?ver=120Now VeeamBackupSvc service is not starting showing 1064 error and obviously I can’t use Console to create new self-signed certificate as a workaround. It’s B&R version 10a so I cannot Repair installation - there’s no such option in the installer.How can I fix this?

Hi All,I am wondering if there is a way to schedule a Full Backup (Acrive or Synthaatic) to be every 10 days ? instead of weekly or monthly bases. My goal is to have daily incrementals and full backup every 10 days so I played with all schedule options but couldn't achieve it so I feel I am missing something or this is not possible on veeam as I used to do it in other vendors.Let me know if this configuration is possible in VBR.Thanks

Hello, Thanks,I need to restore a backup, but need that date/time to match the date/time that the backup was taken.For example, I have a .vmb, .vbk, and recovery agent isoNeed to restore full backup from 10/07/2023 into a hyperv vm.But no matter what I try, after restore and reboot, the date is not set to 10/07/20231. I have setup the hyperv vm not to use “Time Synchronization”2. disable network access, so not ability to contact NTP server.3. As soon as the vm boots, but before starting the restore, i open a command prompt and manually set date to 10/07/20234. then I run the recovery, reboot into the OS and the date is wrong.Any suggestions please?

Can non-domain joined VBR v12 servers use a gMSA?All of our Veeam servers are off our domain, but can communicate with AD, and I'm exploring if I can use gMSA instead of a service account.I've read the KB on gMSA for Veeam, but it's written in a way that tends me to believe its for domain joined VBRs servers. Hi, I have downloaded a trial of Veeam Office 365 backup after hearing how good it was in several places as we currently use another product but it's not the best in terms of features. Initial setup was simple enough but when it came to running the backup job, the performance was dreadfully slow. Averaging between 500-800kbps, it will take months to backup at this rate! Bandwidth is not an issue, we have a leased line and easily get 200meg down. Surely something must be wrong? I have read about auxiliary accounts but that option is greyed out for me...? I have the latest version, downloaded only last week. A bit disappointing since the rest of it seems to be pretty sweet.Any help is appreciated, thank you.

How to tell which backup proxy is being used by agent based backup job? NAS file share backups show the proxy server being used but not seeing the same for an agent based backup job.

Hi team: I have a question: it turns out that I was going to read a tape in Veeam, I took out the previous one (tape3 that's what it's called), it came out without problems and I put the other one in (tape2). When it read the device, Veeam recognized the tape but with the same information as the previous one (tape3). When I took it out with Eject it came out without problems and when I put it back in it didn't read it as Idle or Free.What could have happened to make him behave that way? I played the tape I had at the beginning (tape3) and it reads it without incident.Regards,

Hi all and thanks for reading!!I have a socket liscencing in a host called “roma6-1”. Now, i updated the esxi and the new name of the host is “roma-linux-1”. Well, i revoke the liscence of the host “roma-1” but when i run a job, it still appears with the old name “roma6-1”, i dont know why doesnt appear the new hostname “roma-linux-1” as appears in the inventory of veeam for example. I have searched in my dns, esxi conf, idrac conf, etc. and all is fine. Id should be something cached in veem, i suppouse, but i dont know where looking for.¿Can you help me please?

Hi Team,Got two question and appreciate your response.Q1.In my work environment, we got 3 ESXi hosts and each have connected to multiple SAN devices to store data in different locations. I need to do a mapping exercise to identify the physical HDD’s (inside each SAN device) locations to above said individual ESXi host. I can access the ESXi host from a web interface and can view the datastores connected to individual ESXi host. Further, I can retrieve basic information of  the HDDs (physical) but not an option to locate in which SAN device they are stored.Hope my question is clear and appreciate your valuable support to obtain the best eway to perform this exercise?Q2.Also would like to know a tool or a mechanism to detect the health status of the physical HDD.
