Can non-domain joined VBR v12 servers use a gMSA?All of our Veeam servers are off our domain, but can communicate with AD, and I'm exploring if I can use gMSA instead of a service account.I've read the KB on gMSA for Veeam, but it's written in a way that tends me to believe its for domain joined VBRs servers. A few articles online show that non-domain joined containers can run gMSA, but doesn't read as if non-domain joined servers can do that or not.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/using_gmsa.html?ver=120

Hello everybody and wish you a happy and successful new year.  I’m starting with configuration of SureBackup for our environment.I’m still pretty new to everything so it would be great if someone can assist.We have a standalone Hyper-V Host that we are using for our Virtual Lab.Few of you are already familiar with our setup but I will write it again:Backup Jobs going on primary location (Synology NAS iSCSI connection formatted as ReFS to Windows Server) Backup Copy Jobs on secondary location ( Synology NAS iSCSI connection formatted as ReFS to Windows Server) Immutable Backups on secondary location ( Running Directly on Synology NAS as a VHR - isolated ) Now I want to add SureBackup to our Backup Strategy to complete the 3-2-1-1-0 rule. Currently I created an Virtual Lab with Hyper-V Host but didn’t configure anything than default settings that Veeam Already configured by itself.VM’s that we backup range from DC’s, FileServer’s, Revit Server’s and a lot of other applications.What would

Hi, I have downloaded a trial of Veeam Office 365 backup after hearing how good it was in several places as we currently use another product but it's not the best in terms of features. Initial setup was simple enough but when it came to running the backup job, the performance was dreadfully slow. Averaging between 500-800kbps, it will take months to backup at this rate! Bandwidth is not an issue, we have a leased line and easily get 200meg down. Surely something must be wrong? I have read about auxiliary accounts but that option is greyed out for me...? I have the latest version, downloaded only last week. A bit disappointing since the rest of it seems to be pretty sweet.Any help is appreciated, thank you.

How to tell which backup proxy is being used by agent based backup job? NAS file share backups show the proxy server being used but not seeing the same for an agent based backup job.

Hi team: I have a question: it turns out that I was going to read a tape in Veeam, I took out the previous one (tape3 that's what it's called), it came out without problems and I put the other one in (tape2). When it read the device, Veeam recognized the tape but with the same information as the previous one (tape3). When I took it out with Eject it came out without problems and when I put it back in it didn't read it as Idle or Free.What could have happened to make him behave that way? I played the tape I had at the beginning (tape3) and it reads it without incident.Regards,

Hi all and thanks for reading!!I have a socket liscencing in a host called “roma6-1”. Now, i updated the esxi and the new name of the host is “roma-linux-1”. Well, i revoke the liscence of the host “roma-1” but when i run a job, it still appears with the old name “roma6-1”, i dont know why doesnt appear the new hostname “roma-linux-1” as appears in the inventory of veeam for example. I have searched in my dns, esxi conf, idrac conf, etc. and all is fine. Id should be something cached in veem, i suppouse, but i dont know where looking for.¿Can you help me please?

Hi team:I have a question regarding the title above. It turns out that for many things in Veeam (access to hosts, jobs, console, etc.) I use the domain administrator's credentials. If I have to change said password, should I make adjustments to all the accesses described above? Regards,

Hi Team,Got two question and appreciate your response.Q1.In my work environment, we got 3 ESXi hosts and each have connected to multiple SAN devices to store data in different locations. I need to do a mapping exercise to identify the physical HDD’s (inside each SAN device) locations to above said individual ESXi host. I can access the ESXi host from a web interface and can view the datastores connected to individual ESXi host. Further, I can retrieve basic information of  the HDDs (physical) but not an option to locate in which SAN device they are stored.Hope my question is clear and appreciate your valuable support to obtain the best eway to perform this exercise?Q2.Also would like to know a tool or a mechanism to detect the health status of the physical HDD. The HDDs are in the production environment would like to know an industry best practice to determine the health status please?Than you in advance. Kind regards, Andrew

I’m testing the Veeam Backup & Replication Community Edition on 2 Windows 10 Pro PCs, connected with Gigabit Ethernet.  Everything’s functional.  With no throttling, backup read speed fluctuates between around 60Mb/s and 140Mb/s (note - when the read speed was around 77Mb/s, network usage shown in Task Manager on the server computer for Veeam Agent was around 940Mb/s).  But browsers and email applications on the client computer become unresponsive at times.  Setting throttling (via a Network Traffic Rule on the server) to 50Mb/s fixed the unresponsiveness problem.  But with the throttling, backup read speed dropped drastically, hovering between 1Mb/s and 5Mb/s.  I got the same result after disabling firewall and antiVirus on both computers. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to track down the cause of this problem?  

Can my physical VBR server also be a source WAN accelerator ? Can my target repository server also be the target accelerator? 

I’m running Veeam v12 and performing some restore tests via AD explorer.When I try and restore object to the domain (this is another domain we are backing up, not the domain the Veeam server is connected to), the credential window appears. Enter that but always get error box “The supplied credential is invalid”here is the extract from the veeam log file:Connecting to domain controller rd.domain.org (port: 389, user: RD\serviceusername)…Error: The supplied credential is invalidAny help would be welcome, thanks.

When I using Veeam explorer to restore mailbox items with attachments to a user’s mailbox on On- premise Exchange Server the restore job fail with the below error:"Failed to create items. The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. Unable to write data to the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."Any ideas?

Hi Everyone, I just created an immutable repository using Azure Blob storage and connected to it using a Veeam 12 B&R client on Windows.I was hoping to create a File Share job to send a small set of data to the immutable repository but this doesn’t seem to be an option as when I do a new file share job the immutable repository is not available to select.Have I maybe missed something when configuring my Blob or Repo or is this just not possible? Thanks.

Hi team:I have a problem with 2 hyper-v hosts that I added to the veeam backup.In 1 the host IP had been changed. The josbs were removed and created from scratch. Now, when executing the job, the message "Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: On-host proxy [<Hiper-V name>] requires upgrade before it can be used." appears. I have a rscan over then host and its finished with warnings.In the second hypervisor, this was added directly with the name, but when executing the job, the message "Failed to connect to endpoint <vbr-server>:2500" appears. An error occurred during the connection attempt as the connected party did not respond properly after a period of time".How can i solve this?It should be said that I do not have a defined proxy and it is automatic.Greetings,

Hola  a todos: Tengo un problema con 2 hosts hiper-V en Veeam 12.1:En uno de ellos se lo agregó por IP al inicio y funcionaba bien, luego se le cambió la IP y dejo de respaldar. Los jobs se habian eliminado y vuelto a crear y presenta ahora este error:ya se hizo un rescan del host y no presenta errores. Actualmente sale que esta en estado unavailable.en el segundo host, ese se agregó por nombre, sin embargo al crear una tarea de backup sale esto: Cabe indicar que no tienen ni proxy y gateway server instalados. Como se puede resolver estos inconvenientes? Saludos,

Hi at all,We configured a backup for SQL AAG with Veeam plugin and all work fine, but now we need backup also the OLAP ( Online Analytical Processing ) component for our SQL AAG. Unfortunatly the OLAP is not discoverd by Veeam Plugin and thus I don’t know how setup It's backup with Veeam. Our goal would be configure an backup as did it for the others DB instances Any idea or experience to share ? CiaoLuca 

I did an instant recovery of 2 servers, these servers were from a different location and restored to a new location. Instant recovery went fine. When I migrate to production it creates a whole new server with the name -migrate. Never had this issue doin this to the same location.

I have a customer that would like to have a way to save decommissioned server backups for 7 years.  Their normal retention for backup jobs is 1 year.  They use Data Domain for archive storage.  When they decommission a server they would like to keep the backup for 7 years.  My thought was to create a second repository on the Data Domain, move the backups there and then remove the server from the backup job.  Would this effectively exclude those backups from retention policies?

I am using direct attached on premise storage for my backup repository.  That repository is getting close to being full, and I am having trouble understanding what next steps are.I have 30 day snapshot retention enabled.My concerns are around can I add a new repository that will continue to add new snapshots without having to start all over again and backup the entire 365 environment to that new repository?Ideally if I create a new repository, after 30 days the old (current) repository should be expired and can be removed. But I have a feeling it doesn’t work that way.

Source backup job that runs daily (1:00AM to 4:00AM (3hrs long)) is 1 TB in size on Mondays and then short 100GB increments (1:00AM to 1:30AM) each day for the rest of the week.My WAN link to the Offsite can copy 500GB per day.Copy backup will transfer about 500 GB on Monday but automatically stops after Source job runs again -“Failed to process NAS backup copy task Error: Stopped by job SourceX”After Source job finishes, the Copy job automatically starts again. It copies another 500 GB and gets interrupted when the Source job runs again. My question is the copy job restarting each time or resuming from where it got interrupted? Today is Saturday and it hasn’t finished copy the large Monday restore point..  

I had the Windows Stand Alone version installed on my Windows 10 PC. The external hard drive it was backing up to failed. I purchased a new external hard drive and had to reinstall the Veeam software. Now backups fail indicating an application error. There are no other details and no log files are being created. Any suggestions on getting backups up and running again would be appreciated. 

Hello forum,What are the “Best Practices” for configuring Sure Backup?On which configuration’s I should take care, how often do you recommend to do it etc.I have a dedicated physical server, a Tower server that will be in use for this purpose.12 Core Processor, 128 GB of RAM and around 10TB of free space. Our largest VM is more than 10TB but it will be okay if SureBackup can use instant restore etcPlease advise :)
