Hi Community, During the projects I have been working on, or in the VMCA classes I teach, I use drawio.com to make diagrams. It is a simple and free tool to use. However, the Veeam icons are not always up to date on it. So, to improve the quality, quantity and standard of the Veeam icons, I share many other formats with you.So, you can use drawio as a diagram tool and the Veeam icons in SVG format. Once drawio is open, you just need to copy and paste the desired icons into the drawio window.For those who use Visio, I’ll attach the visio stencils as well.

How to use QNAP as object storage for Veeam Backup and Replication 12.1 with Immutability Backup

QNAP QuObjects application is free and certificated for objects with immutability, which means you can use it as object storage within Veeam for a backup repository that supports their immutability feature. NetApp ASA.R2 models will not be supported by Veeam

NetApp has released new All SAN Array models AKA ASA.R2 (ASA A1K, ASA A70, and ASA A90). These models will only support REST API. Veeam supports ONTAP integration only with ZAPI (ONTAPI). NetApp continues to support ZAPI and has no official EOA for it yet see NetApp doc below. I extracted a piece of this doc that says there is no firm date for EOA. CPC-00410 - Deferral of ONTAPI (ZAPI) End-of-Availability Announcement This correspondence is an update to our previous announcement from February 2023, which stated the end of availability (EOA) of ONTAPI (ZAPI) in January 2024. Upon reassessment and recognizing our customers' continued reliance on ONTAPI, we have decided to prolong offering ONTAPI. Consequently, the EOA for ONTAPI is now deferred until further communication. Note: Veeam also only qualifies GA versions of ONTAP. AIX job is taking longer than expected to start

Hey community, This week, I encountered an issue with AIX agent backups. I have several AIX servers running versions 7.2 and 7.3. The backup jobs start, but there's a significant delay before they actually begin—when they start at all. When they do, the throughput is extremely low, and some jobs run for over 20 hours. The most severe issues seem to occur on AIX 7.3. To troubleshoot, I tried: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Veeam Agent Creating a new protection group to ensure fresh package deployment and a new XML file However, the issue persists. Using Power Automate to Forward Veeam Community Notifications to Teams

I recently started playing around with Power Automate after a team member asked me to share the status of a daily backup job in a Teams chat. I tried to use Teams' "Get Channel Email" function, however it appears the organization has blocked that functionality. Perhaps they don't want channels filled with emails, and prefer us to use native alerting interfaces. I was left with the only option of using Power Automate, or "Workflows" in teams. I started with a simple template to forward emails to a chat, filtered it by subject line of that job's email report, and saved the workflow. This made me wonder what else Power Automate could be used for. Given my renewed goal to participate actively in the Veeam Community, I decided to start there. One of our customers is using Sophos Central with MDR (Managed Detection and Response) and recently added the "Back-up and Recovery" integration pack. This is an additional function that must be licensed accordingly! This means that it is now also possible to monitor and react to certain events within VBR using the Sophos Managed Service. When VMware RHEL Instant VM Migration to Nutanix AHV Fails

When performing an Instant VM Recovery from VMware backup of RHEL VM to Nutanix AHV. The RHEL VM failed to boot up. Please follow the steps to install the VirtIO drivers into the RHEL VM. Not all Linux VMs require this process, in most cases this isn't necessary. Initiated IVMR from VMware Backup of RHEL VM to AHV. Instant VM Recovery Process 2. Noticed the RHEL VM did not boot up see screen below. EFI Boot Failure Screen I went into RHEL VM and followed the steps in this Nutanix KB article link below to add VirtIO drivers. I then rebooted the VM. I took another incremental backup. Understanding Veeam Application Aware

We know that Veeam Backup & Replication can back up virtual machines. This is one of the main functions of Veeam and it has the most features and options that we can configure. Normally, when we are starting in the backup area and taking the first steps in data protection, one of the features that ends up going unnoticed is Application Aware. So, application Aware is a function that we can configure in our backup jobs. It allows us to consistently create backup. Consistent Backup But after all, what is consistent backup? By default Veeam Backup & Replication does not perform your backups consistently. This occurs because a default configured backup job does not process a server's application logs. We must remember that Veeam backs up servers through snapshots taken in the virtualization environment. As a result, Veeam ends up not communicating directly with the operating system of each of these virtual machines. This causes Veeam to consider and perform these backups inconsistently. Wh

Linux Harden Repo ISO Follow up

I previously shared a blog post on the Linux ISO, and I’d like to share an insightful LinkedIn post by Anton Gostev. Veeam’s managed Hardened Repository ISO, introduced five months ago, has been incredibly successful and is evolving further with Veeam Backup & Replication V13. Here are the key updates: End of the Separate ISO: The Hardened Repository ISO will be integrated into the platform via the new “Just Enough OS” (JeOS) ISO, which will enable deployment of various backup roles, including the hardened repository. Centralized Updates: JeOS will manage and update the OS and Veeam components across all backup infrastructure roles, simplifying maintenance with automatic patching during scheduled windows. Easier Provisioning: V13 removes the need for complex passwords in setting up a hardened repository. It will use thumbprint verification and a temporary PIN code for re-pairing with backup servers. Hi everyone,It's being a while since this idea came to my mind, I want to be notified differently that mail, more accurate and clean, my mailbox is always a mess, and I get too much mails to read them all, and start pending on critical alerts and other stuff. I put together a powershell script, a schedule task and a few things in Windows Server where my Veeam B&R V12 is installed, and I managed to receive in a telegram bot the windows events related to Veeam tasks. Very basic, Im not programming skilled or anything like that, do you want to help and contribute to improve and develop this idea? here I share what I've done and shared to anyone who wants to help, participate and use this workaround. I actually wanted to present AsBuiltReport.Veeam.VBR in a recap article on my blog, but in the last few days I had the opportunity to use the package again in another productive infrastructure and came to the decision that a complete article must be provided here! Because this product is simply awesome! The subtitle on AsBuiltReport "Document Your Datacenter With PowerShell" says it all, but see for yourself… A few months ago I reported on the Veeam.Diagrammer (also included in the AsBuiltReport.VBR) in my Recap #4, which was also provided by Jonathan Colon. In my opinion, Jonathan and his team have brought a masterpiece onto the market with the AsBuiltReport product.
