Hey there. There is VBR server in our organization. We are currently managing a Windows Agent backup policy configured in "Managed by Agent" job mode. The policy is set to perform a "File-Level Backup" and is configured to include the following objects:E:\ C:\Windows\System32\LogFilesWe need to modify the policy to include the operating system volume in the backup. To test this, we cloned the job and made changes to the policy using a test machine. However, we encountered an issue: when we add the "Operating System" as an object in the "File-Level Backup" mode, running the job triggers a new active full backup of all volumes. We observed the same behavior when changing the job mode to "Volume-Level Backup" or "Entire Computer"—an active full backup of all volumes is triggered on the next run.Our primary concern is avoiding the need for an active full backup of the E:\ drive, which contains around 6TB of data. The servers are located at remote sites with slow links, making it impractical to re-seed the entire E:\ drive.Could you please ad
Hi I little confused about were should I should find workers Onenotes files from Veeam O365 backup ????Newer looked are OneNotes files included O365 backup procedure.O365 business used and document folders sync to personal OneDrive\documents\OneNote Notebooks\ -> there are only hypertext links to O365 website OneNote App.Workers always uses O365 local OneNote appThese links shown also in Veeam O365 backups but not the *.one files at all ☹Workers all data (Mail, Archive, OneDrive, Site) included and nothing excluded .In Veeam manual:https://www.veeam.com/blog/restore-ms-teams-onenote-items.htmlMicrosoft OneNoteVeeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 can back up two types of NotesPersonal NotesSuch notes can be saved either on a local disk or to OneDrive for Business. In case of the latter, such files would be backed up as a part of OneDrive for Business user account and can be restored both to original and new locations. During restore process, OneNote would detect that you’ve created
Hello, well, the fun never ends.I moved a VM named ‘user01-Virtual-Machine agent_vserver03’ from one folder to another folder on the same drive letter V:The vm itself runs fine, no issues. Now, the backup fails.I tried to search about the error and for 'HvGetVolumesByPaths', but foud nothing at all.Error: Failed to call RPC function 'HvGetVolumesByPaths': The file or directory is not a reparse point. Failed to retrieve reparse point data. I re-scaned the hyper-v server, ‘VSERVER03’ but nothing changed.Note: this is a homelab, i am willing to delete and re-do whatever. But, no idea what to try next. Maybe I should the following, but hoping there is a less drastic solution?export vm delete vm import vm in VBR, re-scan the standalone hyperv server re-create a backup job and backup copy job
Hello all, today Veeam announced the release of Veeam Backup and Replication v12.2 extending data resilience to more Platforms and Applications. New Veeam Data Platform v12.2 introduces several new features, including:Backup for Proxmox VE: Protect the native hypervisor without requiring the management or use of backup agents. Enjoy flexible recovery options, including VM restores from and to VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, oVirt KVM, AWS, Azure and Google Cloud; as well as restores of physical server backups directly to Proxmox VE (for DR or virtualization/migration).Backup for MongoDB: Bolster your cyber resilience with ease by leveraging immutable backups, backup copies, and advanced storage capabilities.Enhanced Nutanix AHV integration: Protect critical Nutanix AHV data from replica nodes without impacting the production environment. Benefit from deep Nutanix Prism integration with policy-based backup jobs, increased backup security, and flexibility in network design.Expanded AWS sup
There are many Nutanix VMs in a backup job that are successful but any VM isn't.Please help to advise me. Thanks
Somewhat not Veeam related, but I figured there is a good group of folks in here to ask. Earlier we were discussing the largest VM’s we backup in VBR, and I noted that I was looking for maybe a solution to for offloading large amounts of archive data to Wasabi, but still wanting to access the data as a share. I sent a quick message over to my Wasabi rep and he referred me to the Wasabi Cloud NAS service which I do actually remember hearing about a few weeks ago but forgot about. Does anyone have any practical experience with it?And to keep it Veeam related, I was going to ask if anyone had any experience with how to back the service up, although when creating this post, I got a suggested topic…..which is only 6 days old and yet I missed it!But protecting 50TB of data is pretty expensive when using NAS backups, and for archive data that rarely access, so I’m thinking deploy the Veeam Agent for Windows on the server and backup up that volume that way…..though it would need to be teste
Hello,A while ago I set up a immutable repository on a Ubuntu host 24.04. For that I created a separate partition with separate user login for client A.All worked fine over months. Yesterday on the same server I created a new partition with a new user login for client B. I could add the repository to VBR 12.0 on the client side. Today I see that for client B VBR cannot find the repository. Host discovery fails. “an unknown error occured while processing the certificate” I’m not sure what happened, but it has certainly something to do with adding a new repository for client B. First, is it generally possible to have several clients on the same Ubuntu server with separate partition and user logins? How can I fix it for client A without breaking for Client B? Thanks,Edy
Hi,How can I reset the configuration under Linux on the command line. i want to be able to go through the initial configuration wizard again which came up after the first installation.
Hello,I have a very small environment consisting a of 1 Hyper-V server. I have direct attached storage, a QNAP NAS with NFS & Object Store capabilities and a subscription with Wasabi. Ideally I’d like to configure a backup which creates a copy on the direct attached storage, copy on the QNAP and a copy in Wasabi. I’m seeking recommendation on how to configure the backup job. So far I’ve created a SOBR consisting of the direct attached storage + QNAP. I also have a Backup Copy job which uploads the SOBR to Wasabi but I’m not certain if any of this is a best practice. The Backup Copy job is configured as a secondary location for the primary backup job. Thanks
Hi all. I’ve got a Veeam backup & replication CE that backup some VM on VMware ESXi.This backups are copied offsite to another site using a IPSEC VPN, a proxy is placed on other site and storage is a NAS.At least once a week, randomly, backup copy job fail because can’t connect to Veeam proxy. At this this I’m using Linux as a proxy but also with Windows we’ve issue. Anyone had experience of using Veritas 5250/5x50 appliances with Veeam? I believe the appliances can support SMB/NFS so as long as that is available then yes….if anyone has any thoughts or experiences please let me know.
Hello together, I have the following Problem.I want to migrate a Workstation to am VM in Proxmox.I found the following Thread with nearly the same questionNow my Problem:When I start the VM it boots into the Veeam restore option but the Agent shows the Error “Failed to resolve ClientID. Machine doesn´t have identifiers”.Like in the Thread above I switched the VM-Bios from SeaBios to Uefi but then the VM doesn´t boot into Veeam. Is there a possibility to solve the Error Thank you for your help. Good day!Hi All, Experiencing this error after the successful created of the protection domain.after the rescan. got this error. 8/1/2024 2:33:59 PM Warning Failed to connect to 172.16.0.31 Details: Failed to call RPC function 'EpAgentCollectSystemInfo': Machine doesn't have identifiers.
Hi all,Anybody faced issues with the usage of certain TIERs from a SOBR on another VBR server ? Here’s what we want to achieve:Customer is upgrading to brand new VBR server (new hardware)Together with this shift, he want’s to move from S3 provider. All configured well, but what with the existing SOBR were we only want to keep the archive tier. Both Capacity and Archive tier are S3 compatible repo’s (encrypted). We just want to break up the SOBR and mount the S3 Archive tier to the new VBR and perfrom a rescan. All backup points should then be visible as ‘imported’ backups. This gives the customer the opportunity to keep the possibility to restore from his previous archive tier when necessary and get rid of the costly capacity tier. Any things we should keep in mind ? I guess a rescan of the repo will populate the internal DB with the necessary info to perform restores via the new VBR.
Hello everyone,For those who don't know, I'm the creator of the website Ransomware.live, and I'm excited to share some major updates and improvements I've been working on over the past few months: Major Code Overhaul: I’ve rewritten 80% of the code to enhance efficiency and performance. This should result in a smoother and faster experience for everyone using the platform. Integration of TTPs: I’ve integrated Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) from the Ransomware Tool Box, thanks to the valuable contributions from my friend Will. This addition provides more comprehensive insights into ransomware operations. Adding YARA Rules: YARA rules have been added from various reliable sources, strengthening the platform’s ability to help to detect and analyze ransomware threats. Database Expansion: The database now includes ransomware attacks dating back to before 2021. This expansion offers a more historical perspective on ransomware activity, allowing for deeper analysis and trend tra
I haven’t found an answer to this, so asking here.I was asked if we can change the retention on an existing backup to keep it longer than the original retention time. For example, we are running forward incrementals daily with a synthetic full every Saturday. The retention is set to 30 days. We are using Veeam 12.1 with immutable Linux repository. If someone comes to me and asks for us to keep last Wednesday’s backup for 90 days due to an ongoing project they have, can I retroactively change the retention on that backup to 90 days? (I understand that the prior Saturday-Wednesday files would/should also be retained to keep the chain intact).Thanks.
Hi guys,First, I’m not sure if I should be posting here or forums.veeam.com? Either way, here’s my setup: Hyper-V host domain-joined to customer infrastructure, running Windows Server 2022, patched with July 2024 cumulative patches. Security software includes S1, Threatlocker, and Huntress. Threatlocker is in “learning” mode and is not blocking anything. Backup server is also running Windows Server 2022 patched with the latest July 2024 cumulative update. Security software includes SentinelOne and Duo authentication to enable MFA for local user logins. Backup box is *not* domain joined at all.I’ve been told this is a UAC issue, but using a domain user bypasses this problem. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. No matter what I do, I can’t get the backup server to authenticate with the Hyper-V host using a domain account. I can get it to authenticate, browse \\hypervip\ADMIN$ share, and connect with Veeam with the built-in, named Administrator account and I can get it to authenticat
We have had an error message when backing up Office365 for 2 days JetError -528, JET_errMissingLogFile, Current log file missingWe backup to a NASThe backup repository has the same error message, but the NAS is fully accessible and our normal Veeam Backup & Repository continues to back up to the same NASDoes anyone have an idea?
Hi,I try to add VBR server to Veeam EM, there is no problem. But sessions tab I see “Database Replication” failed. And the logs like that;“The SQL Server machine hosting the configuration database is currently unavailable. Possible reasons are a network connectivity issue, server reboot, heavy load or hot backup. Please try again later.Error:relation "licensing.cc.ınstancestobackupslinks" does not exist”VBR build is 12.1.0.2131, is not community license, and db is postgre. Thanks,
Veeam to backup Openmediavault hostI try to backup with veeam my openmediavault host. It's installed barmetal.Downloaded and installed it with apt-get install veeam-nosnap. But if I try to backup my volume lvl, i get this error: Item nvme0n1 cannot be backed up without veeam snapshot kernel modul.Hiw I can get the modul?
So I am on Veeam community edition 11.01.1261 and decided to look into immutable backups. I created a Ubtunu 22.04.2 VM and followed the guide. I added the repo to Veeam. When I do a backup and check on the Linux system I am not seeing the immutable tag set, what am I missing? I’m looking in the data directory of the backupset. The backup is there, looks fine, it is not immutable. lsattr---------------------- ./0000.vblob The Linux FS is XFS, and I set the checkbox to say it should be immutable for 7 days.
Does anyone have the Lego build instructions from the July 18th build event?
How to deal with the situation where the tape name is mislabeled and does not match the actual tape sequence? Manually modifying and restoring the sequence recognized by the system, which is inconsistent with reality, is very troublesome
