Hi Folks, I am back into the wild and wonderful world of Veeam Service Provider Console after a brief sojourn. I wanted to see if there is a quick answer to this and if my old solution perhaps has a better one now.I have a VBR that is connected to the Service Provider and all backup copy jobs are working fine. In VSPC the company is smiling with a happy green Healthy! However, at the VBR level the when pressing the Management Agent icon it complains that is connecting, and can’t connect after rolling through all the gateways. I tried running through the SP properties again but no luck. Is it time to un-install the pesky agent and redeploy? The ClientAgent_error, Communication and ClientAgent logs have things like CloudGate “No such host is known” and “Endpoint Hanshake Failed” and The write operation failed, see inner exception. ---> System.TimeoutException: Could not finish read operation in timely manner. Now could this be that if they have running backups and have used up the Tena
HelloI’m trying to find a solution to a hypothetic scenario: tl;dr is it possible to change/swap the target repository of a Backup Job by the repository of the BackupCopy Job I have 2 datacenter, 1 VBR server, and 2 repository on each site, one for backup job target, and the other one for BackupCopy job targetevery job have a copy job associated with it, and there are a few dozens of jobs running every dayI want to plan the failure of the repository system and being able to continue to do backups, in the case where the issue is hardware or would need multiple days to repair I have no problem with restoring from the copy jobs, all the data is there as intended, but how to restart the service of “backups” during this failure?so is it possible to tell VBR to use the the existing backup copy chains to use as an existing repository (I can’t seem to be able to remap)or is that impossible and I would need a new repository, and so startiing new backup chain ?
Hi, ive just setup Veeam - Backup and Replication v12 and im a little stuck on how to setup my backup scenario. What i would like to do is perform a daily weekday backup to NAS with a retention of 10 restore points (Mon to Fri, so 2 weeks) with an active full on saturday plus a full daily backup to Tape. The data is 2tb, and i use LTO6 tapes (2.4tb).The Nas job is setup, and works perfectly, but im struggling with the Tape part. The problem is that the source job, having 10 restore points (and 2 active fulls), becomes too big for the tapes but can easily fit the actual data being backed up. The active full plus the daily incremental should fit, but its the 2nd Active Full that makes it too big.Is there anywhere to set the job to backup only one chain, daily, as a full?I may be looking at this the wrong way round, and there is a probably a better solution to this, but my thinking was that the data should fit on one tape, so why not back that up, in full, daily. This would save using pools
I want to added multiple VCentres spread across trusted domains to one console ( 1 from each Domain).. At first glance I should be able to add the the second Vcentre Server. Is this as straight forward as it appears?
If you want to restore a deleted Exchange mailbox (on-prem), you first have to create an empty mailbox within Exchange for the user. This has already been described earlier: https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/restore-deleted-mailbox-with-veeam-explorer-for-exchange-t16174.html Challenge is, while creating a new mailbox you also create a new ID for it. This leads to loosing some functionality (permissions to folders for 3rd parties etc., recurring appointments, etc.). Is there another known way to recover the mailbox including its original ID?I would rather have expected VEXE to create the mailbox for me while recovering - including all metadata.
Primary backup is configured with daily retention 14 days , synthetic on Sunday and GFS (Monthly - First, Yearly- April) option and target to disk storage.Monthly - 1st of every month Yearly - 1st of April Now Backup to Tape , above primary backups , incremental in incremental media pool , weekly synthetic backups to go in weekly media pool, monthly in monthly media pool, yearly in yearly media pool. like wise is this possible with GFS media pool configuration.
Hi,I have installed the testlicence of veeam o365 Version 7. Exporting single items from a mailbox works fine, but export the hole mailbox of a user ends up with: unable to read beyond of the end of the stream. How can I solve this?

Hey everyone, Has anyone ever seen Veeam throttling bandwidth with the RMAN plugin? I’m working with a really beefy Veeam environment at the moment. Source data is all on flash, 40GbE networking available, high performance RAID controller + 4x RAID 60 repositories in a SOBR. Backups are flying for most workloads, VMware, Agent, NAS etc, but RMAN is letting me down. For example, a Veeam Agent using an unoptimised network path via the firewall can still do over 200MBps (Firewall is the bottleneck here), but RMAN is doing 5-7MBps and it’s on an L2 network with no firewalls involved. Testing with iperf can get 6-8Gbps easily without tuning between the hosts and the backup repositories, one test with iperf between the backup repositories was giving 26Gbps, so the network really is moving quick. When I’m going through the Veeam logs I’m finding things like this: plugin_co| [8b43] >> : Invoke: Network.UpdateThrottling\n{ (EInt32) KbpsReadBandwidth = 0\n (EInt32) KbpsWriteBandwidth

For those that use Veeam ONE they have released a patch that adds a few new things and fixes others. One of the main additions is for the upcoming vSphere 8U1 update.https://www.veeam.com/kb4430

Hello Everybody, i’am new……...i need to buy the god licence for my new backup.I habe 45VM wand more or less 15TB backup stuff…….what you mean better to buy a Essential Licence or a Advanced. (i will use also Veem One). The Veeam funtionallity for Essential are the same as Advanced?I have only Hyper-V VM onprimise, but in 3 yeas maybe we go to Azure, so i think better VUL Licence and not Core. Thank for the help Thank a lotAlfred
I found this tool today. I thought it would be helpful for anyone evaluating a migration to cloud. The sections for object storage are also particularly interesting with respect to Veeam products.https://projector.cloud-mercato.com/projects/aws-vs-azure-vs-google-vs-ibm-vs-oracle-vms-q2-2023
Hi All,This is my first post on this site.I have been asked to backup a database on one of our servers before setting it up to be decommissioned. The DB needs to be retained for 40 years and before I can archive off the DB I need to ensure that we are able to access it. I am very new to veeam and wondered if anyone knows how I can backup just the DB and not the VM? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
In Feb 2023 NetApp announced the release of ONTAP 9.12.1 to introduce some new hardware the C-Series models. One big item that customers were eager for was large volume and LUN support. This was experimental and was not enabled without support assistance. It is now enabled by default in ONTAP 9.12.1P2 and later releases. Please see images below to compare the old and new Volume and LUN sizes. This will open up new opportunities for existing customers running out of space on their ONTAP Veeam backup repos. They can increase them to use larger LUNs 128 Tib or Volumes 300 Tib. Hello everybody, i use MABS and Veeam for backup the same Exchange Server and SQL whats happen with the transaction logs? Is this a good Idea or not? Better to user only Veeam? Can This cause of problems. Thank a lotAlfred
I just upgraded to v12 and the direct-to-object storage feature is exciting but I am having trouble doing what I would like to do.I have the veeam service provider console and associated cloud connect server, and several single physical servers at different customer sites that I would like have a local backup + direct to object storage backup strategy for. I was hoping to use veeam agents on the physical servers and just use my console + cloud connect server to manage / monitor the backups. Ideally backup data would just go to the local storage at the same physical site as the server (NAS/external USB), and be uploaded directly to object storage without going through the cloud connect server.I considered using a scale-out backup repository for this, but trying to configure a scale out backup repository on my cloud connect server, but I can’t have an extent be local storage.I considered installing a backup server on the physical server but this seems like a bad idea given the backup se
Hei, I’m trying to understand a mysterious problem with Veeam Agent on Windows 7 SP 1. The system is relatively old and backed up occasionally on request only. The last backup is about two years old. When I tried start Veeam Agent today (version was ~2019ish), no window appeared. Not even the icon in the task bar showed up. I decided to uninstall the old version and went for 6.0.2.1090. However, this time the installer (even when run as administrators) doesn’t do anything. No error messages, no exception - nothing. When clicked, the hourglass shows up for a couple of seconds, but then it’s gone. Even at its age, the system is running fine. Do you know how I could get a handle on this? Does the installer log anything? Thanks, Frank
Is there a way to take VMware snapshots instead of production data?
Bom Dia a todos,Estou com um problema em configurar o envio do backup do Job.Abaixo está a configuração e o erro do backup da tarefa.A Versão do Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5.4.2866
Hi Folks, I like to travel in local style while in new cities. Taxi and Uber rides for me are the same everywhere, but train, bus and feet always provide a different experience. Just ask @Chris.Childerhose and Nico Stein about our fun ride on the Prague metro then long walk through the city :). Anyways, Miami is no exception. For $2.25 you can get a bus to Miami Beach. There is a free shuttle that runs up and down Miami Beach as well. Checkout the options here: https://www.miami-airport.com/public-transportation.asp

Hi Folks, I have been out of the Cloud Connect loop for a bit. As I understand it you can no longer do Quarterly GFS backups on backup copy jobs to CC. Has anyone thought of some original ideas to get around this? If you have a customer that wants to send GFS to AWS Quarterly, I was thinking for them to simply add a direct AWS s3 repo to V12 and if their bandwidth allows use the windows scheduler to run active fulls every quarter. Anyone else had this issue?
