primary and backup to Tape - GFS Backup Query

Primary backup is configured with daily retention 14 days , synthetic on Sunday and GFS (Monthly - First,  Yearly- April) option and target to disk storage.

Monthly - 1st of every month 

Yearly - 1st of April 

Now Backup to  Tape , above primary backups ,  incremental in incremental media pool , weekly synthetic  backups  to go in weekly media pool, monthly in monthly media pool, yearly in yearly media pool. like wise is this possible with GFS media pool configuration.

Yes this is possible to do a similar thing to your primary backups to tape using GFS.  You set up the GFS media pool then configure the settings for it.  Review this page for an explanation - GFS Media Pools - User Guide for VMware vSphere (veeam.com)

You don’t need to setup different media pools for daily, weekly, monthly, yearly backups - just use a GFS Tape job and it will organize all these backups in one mediapool.

You don’t need to setup different media pools for daily, weekly, monthly, yearly backups - just use a GFS Tape job and it will organize all these backups in one mediapool.

 It will  write daily, weekly, monthly, yearly backups data  to different tapes from that one mediapool.

So it segregate backups, it will not dump the weekly& Monthly backups in one tapes.

No it will not as it will create tapes for each category.

It creates separate tapes for each “kind" of backups. You can distinguish them with the mediaset labels.
