Backup SQL encrypted databases

Hi All,I look for confirmation if Veeam B&R supports backups of SQL Encrypted databases on a Always ON environment. This with standard backup (vmware agent less) and via a a job with the windows agent both with application awarness.Thanks,Benny

Veeam for Windows Stuck at 40%

Hi Not sure if this is the right place I have tried R&D forums.I use Veeam for Windows free backing up endpoints to NAS drives.I have a clients endpoint that's has been running fine for a long time but now gets stuck at 40% and in the end fails with Application Failed. Its stuck in backing up the C driveI have tried all the obvious, updated to latest, reinstalled, deleted job and recreated the database but still seeing the issue. Run chkdsk not issues with diskAnyone seen this before?

Veeam 12.3: Failed to upgrade host components. Error: 'Failed to call RPC function 'PckgFind': This action is only valid for products that are currently installed

Hi all,I’m getting the above error trying to install components on my managed physical server for Veeam 12.3 . I proceeded to manually mount the iso on that server and install the components myself, but still getting the error. I’ve checked and the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) windows service is running fine.Installed the Veeam VSS Hardware Snapshot provider and checked the Registry - all present.Checked logs for the transport service at ‘C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Svc.VeeamTransport.log’ on the managed server, and seems to connect fine with agent. Did a configuration backup and performed a clean install of the backup server as some other posts suggested but still getting the error.Not sure if a clean install should be done on the managed server as well.. but not sure what else to try either. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Disk I/O error

Hi, running my normal weekly backup and came cross this: 7/31/2025 5:08:20 PM :: Error: Cannot process pending I/O request (offset: 453659656192, size: 65536): async reader terminatedCorrupted block processing thread failed unexpectedlyFailed to upload disk. Hello, Thanks,I did a fresh install of VBR on a new machine, using freshly downloaded, latest .iso i did a succesful agent backup of MACH94. Then I tried to agent backup SERVER02 and that failed. “5/28/2024 6:08:33 PM :: Error: The specified path is invalid. Error: in [VctSetCtStorePath] at step [3] Agent failed to process method {VeeamVolumeCt.SetUserStorePath}“

Restore Failure for Jenkins config-history Folder in Veeam

Hi everyone,I'm facing an issue while restoring Jenkins data using Veeam. Specifically, when I try to restore the config-history folder (which contains Jenkins configuration history), the restore fails. However, if I attempt to restore a smaller subset of data, it completes successfully.Details: Veeam version: 12.3.2 Backup type: VM-level Error message/log snippet: a connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond Veeam Support - Case # 07775632Has anyone encountered this before? Could it be related to file size, permissions, or something else?Thanks in advance!

Veeam NFR Keys limits for fileshare

Hi, I was not able to make a comment on the NFR Thread - so I had to create a new. Im a VMUG member and have introduced Veeam to a number of customers and I’m running it in my homelab on NFR licenses. 20 VMs is a challenge as I have over 100 VMs but now I’m protecting the 20 most critical. Just recently i decided to use Veeam for my Fileshare as well as this would allow me to easilly create a cloud backup job (S3) as well as a tape job (I have an LTO-6 FC tape in the lab) However its not clear how Fileshare licenses is done, I assumed one Fileserver was one workload - but after I created one and copied 3TB or so of data I could no longer run any additional jobs. This was strange as my intention was to have a few fileserver backup jobs where secondary jobs would kick in - some fileshares would get an S3 copy, some would land on tape and so on. The license says (500G) and I have 6 instances, does this mean 3TB of data? Thanks.

Dear all,I'm currently encountering an issue with one of our backup jobs affecting approximately seven virtual machines. Hardened Windows Server 2025 Script for Standalone Veeam Backup — Based on CIS Benchmarks

Hi all,I've written and tested a PowerShell script to harden a standalone Windows Server 2025 machine running Veeam Backup & Replication, based on the CIS Benchmarks (Level 1 & 2). I’m sharing it here in case it helps others — feedback is welcome!What the Script DoesThis script configures the server securely without breaking core Veeam functionality. Backup & Replication VM client stand-alone backup job

Hi allI was wondering if it is possible to create a backup job of a VM, without having access to the VM Host Server. I have installed Backup & Replication on the VM client itself, connected a backup repository, but when I try to create a backup job, it asks for the IP and admin credentials of the VM Host. Thanks for your help

P2V Restore to Proxmox - Error output: MAX vcpus allowed Veeam Backup and Replication

Hi,  I do a Backup from a Phyiscal Maschine and try do restore it by Veeam Backup and Replication. Of course the PMaschine has 8 Cores, the proxmox SVR just have 4 Cores. I got the error message “Failed to reach the hypervisor. Error output: MAX 4 vcpus allowed”. Is there any solution? I have no possibility to change the vm config bevore create.  Thanks for any help.

CDP Install Fails Due to VIB Checksum Error – Using ISO Only, No Online Depot

Hi all,We are currently facing an issue during the installation of CDP (Continuous Data Protection) in our vSphere 8.0.3 environment. Setup: Hosts are updated exclusively using offline ISO images ISO files are internally validated and approved via change control Online depots are completely disabled vLCM is configured with only our custom HPE ISO (VMware-ESXi-8.0.3-24674464-HPE-803.0.0.12.1.0.11-apr2025.iso) vCenter version: 8.0.3 Hosts affected: esxi03.cloud.local (and others) Problem:When attempting to install CDP, remediation fails with the following error: Host 'esxi03.cloud.local' was not processed, the reason: 'Failed to validate the checksum of VIB 'http://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/addon-main/addon/HPE/vib20/qfle3/QLC_bootbank_qfle3_1.4.51.0-1OEM.700.1.0.15843807.vib', because the computed checksum differs from the expected one stored in metadata. Query on Veeam Backup for 100TB

Hi Team,I have two servers with 100TB each with windows server operating system using as a file servers. one is acting as a primary servers and second is acting as a secondary server by using native replication. Understanding Network Traffic Rules

After the latest FW/Software update on our Exagrids, veeam started trying to use the management network for backups. I was told be exagrid support that veeam tries to use any available address and thus was grabbing an address that was not configured for backups on the Exagrid. Quantum tape drives

We back up to disk then duplicate to tape for offsite storage. Not quite ready for cloud backups yet. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with Quantum LTO-9 tape drives with Veeam backup. I have quotes for two models. TD-L92BN-AR and TD-L93CN-AR. Thanks.

Corrupted Files After Restore from Veeam Backup for M365 and VBR – Related to Microsoft Sensitivity Labels?

Hi Everybody,a Customer of mine posted the following in R&D forum because we have some issues with his M365 Backup. They have a Case open since May adressing this issue but there is only litte to none progress. I thought that maybe anybody here might had a similar issue in the past and maby even a solution or workaround:We’re currently facing a critical issue involving both Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR), and we’re hoping to hear from others who may have encountered something similar.Background: After restoring Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) — whether from Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 or via VBR from local backups — the files can no longer be opened. They appear to be corrupted, even though they were fully functional in their original state on SharePoint or in the file system. Restoring to different SharePoint sites or local paths didn’t help. invalid credentials or connection settings

HelloI have 4 VM on 4 different physical servers with Veeam Backup&Replication community edition v12.1.56.In my system, I have a VM under debian 12 which is used as Postfix SMTP relay for all my servers. Internally, everything goes through port 25 and all my servers send mail to this relay without identification or password. The relay then sends everything to my dedicated office365 mailbox.In less than 1 day, 2 of my Veeam VMs stopped sending me mail.So every time I run the test mail, I get the message: Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings.I've compared the smtp configuration with that of the 2 servers that are still working, apparently I haven't seen any anomalies and everything is identical. VEEAM BACKUP WITH NUTANIX

I have an infrastructure operating on a Nutanix Cluster and Prism Element, and I have integrated it with VEEAM Backup. I possess a socket-based license for VEEAM, and the cluster appears online in VEEAM. There are about 15 VMs in my infra, and I have set up a job to back up all the VMs which are within the cluster, I start the job and observed that it is not utilizing the socket license. Instead, it's recognizing an instance-based approach and only backing up a few VMs, with the rest displaying a license overutilization error. Can any one let me know How Nutanix works with VEEAM, is it a socket based license or instance based license only.

Disk Exclusion

I have one Veeam job to backup my VM with only selected disk selected and this job already runing for several months and the full backup size is 30TB. The retention for this job set to 2 days.Last friday i remove 3 HDDs from the Veeam Job and this 3 disks exclusion have capacity 8TB.Today i check why the full backup still 30TB and not decreased even 3 disks already take out from the job?
