Hello,I’m currently testing Veeam v13 using the appliance‑based deployment and love the infrastructure. I have few issues, so not sure if the appliances are limitation to those issues. So far I have the following components installed: VBR (appliance) Hardened Repository (appliance) Proxy (appliance) Enterprise manager (appliance) VeeamOne (windows server - non domain joined) First issueVeeam ONE is installed on a Windows Server, but I’m unable to add the VBR server to it.The error I receive is: “Veeam Analytics Service on the remote server is not running.” I attempted also a manual installation of the Analytics Service, and I can confirm that the service is running on the VBR sidevia manual installation or via VeeamOne installation.Data collection access is allowed, and all components are within the same L2 segment, so there are no firewall issues.Second issueI am not able to add EM to VeeamOne, it provides me that account does not have premissions. (Tried with veeamadmin wi
Hi All, Would it be possible to replace or update the OpenSSL component only on the Veeam Agent for Windows [v13.0.3.1220] due to the Critical bug below, or is it better to wait until Veeam released the latest update ? Recommended Action: Download and install patches as instructedDescription:A heap buffer overflow from converting large OCTET STRINGs to hex on 32 bit OpenSSL may crash or allow code execution; caused by 32 bit multiplication overflow; affects non FIPS OpenSSL 3.x on 32 bit systems.Affected Products:OpenSSLCVE IDs:CVE-2026-31789Vendor Information:https://www.openssl.org/news/vulnerabilities.htmlVendor Patch Download:https://wiki.openssl.org/index.php/Binaries Thank you,
We are planning to upgrade Veeam Backup & Replication from v12 to v13, and I understand that PostgreSQL will be upgraded from version 15 to version 17 during the upgrade process. After completing our validation, including backup and restore tests, we would like to uninstall PostgreSQL 15 from the VBR server.Could anyone share the recommended procedure for safely removing PostgreSQL 15 after the upgrade? Are there any prerequisites or checks that should be performed before uninstalling it?Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi everyone,We're currently using the new Veeam Backup & Replication v13 Appliance and have a question regarding post-backup automation. In our previous Windows-based Veeam installation, we had a scheduled task that would automatically shut down the backup server after the backup job had completed successfully. This worked well for our 3-2-1 backup strategy, as the backup server only needed to be online during the backup window. After migrating to the v13 Appliance, we can't seem to find a similar option or supported method to automatically power off the appliance once all backup jobs have finished.Has anyone implemented this on the v13 Appliance? Is there a built-in feature, or is there a recommended approach for scheduling an automatic shutdown after all backup jobs have completed?Any suggestions or best practices would be appreciated.
Hello everyone, I am looking to schedule daily backup jobs and copy jobs reports using powershell in veeam backup server. Could you please provide me the suitable script for reports as per jobname, server, latest backup run time, status. Backup version is 13.0
Veeam Backup and Replication v13 on Windows includes an option to define a custom mirror repository. But what repository should you actually mirror? Is this option even intended for the windows based installation, cause it feels like the offical repos only host updates for the software appliance.
Hi Community,Does anyone know the best way to backup the Nutanix Prism Centarl VM? Thank you!
Hi everyone,I have a question about using the proxy appliance as an internet proxy for VMs running inside a Veeam Virtual Lab.I enabled the internet access feature and configured HTTPS traffic on port 443. On a VM within the isolated network, I then configured the isolated-network IP address of the proxy appliance and the corresponding port as a proxy server in the web browser. However, internet access is not working. While troubleshooting, I started wondering how DNS resolution is supposed to work in this scenario. Typically, the VM sends DNS queries to an internal DNS server. If the requested hostname cannot be resolved locally, the DNS server forwards the query to an external DNS forwarder.Since the proxy appliance only proxies the web traffic, how are DNS queries from the isolated environment handled? Does the internal DNS server require a separate route or masquerading rule for external DNS resolution, or is DNS resolution handled by the proxy appliance as part of the proxy connecti
Hi everyone,I’d like to share a community project I have been working on: VBR Installer for Aliyun. https://github.com/Coku2015/VBR_Installer_for_Aliyun/The project provides a browser-based wizard for deploying a Veeam Software Appliance into your own Alibaba Cloud account. I created it to explore a more repeatable deployment workflow for Veeam users who operate workloads on Alibaba Cloud. The installer currently supports:VeeamSoftwareAppliance_13.0.2.29_20260617.ovaIt runs on Windows and macOS and requires Python 3.12+, QEMU (qemu-img), Git, and Alibaba Cloud CLI 3.3 or later.I have published a introduction and walkthrough here:https://blog.backupnext.cloud/en/2026/07/Veeam-Installer-for-Aliyun-launch/I would be very interested in feedback from the community. Thanks, and I hope this project is useful.
Hi everyone,I'm running into a strange issue with a Veeam Backup & Replication Appliance v13.0.2.29 on a physical HPE Gen10 server with iLO 5 (firmware 3.13).The appliance boots normally and displays the Veeam Host Management screen, but I can't access the network configuration because the keyboard input doesn't seem to work correctly.ENTER to change the network config! What I've tried:HTML5 Remote Console Java Integrated Remote Console (v252) Different browsers Hotkey programming Ctrl+X Ctrl+Shift+X Fn combinations Java updated to the latest versionThe problem is that Enter does not activate the "Sign in" button, so I can't get into the Host Management menu to change the appliance IP address. The appliance currently has an incorrect IP configured, so I can't access the web interface or SSH.The server is in a remote datacenter, so connecting a physical keyboard isn't an easy option.Has anyone experienced this with the Veeam Appliance or iLO 5?Is there a known workaround to get Enter
Setup:On-prem VBR 12.3.2 Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance, connected via External Repository Goal: Instant Recovery to VMware vSphere, restoring Azure VMs back to on-prem vCenter (testing DR failback scenario)What I've confirmed:Restore points ARE visible in VBR under Home → Backups → External Repository → Failback storage Each VM already shows 5 restore points. Platform shows correctly as Microsoft Azure, repository FailbackThe issue:When I right-click a restore point to start the recovery, "Instant Recovery to VMware vSphere" is not available / grayed out in the menu, even though the restore point is clearly present and shows 5 valid points.Questions:What conditions cause Instant Recovery to VMware vSphere to be unavailable even when a valid restore point is shown in the console? Does an active/running backup job on the same policy (I currently have other jobs running in parallel) block Instant Recovery for these VMs? Are there specific requirements for restore points impor
Hello,We are facing a backup issue with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows on one specific Windows 11 Pro workstation. We have two Windows 11 Pro PCs, both fully updated and both backing up to the same SMB share. On PC #2, backups work fine.On PC #1, backups always fail. The job starts normally and goes through: Initializing Preparing for backup Creating VSS snapshot Calculating digests Reading EFI partition Reading OS (C:) The failure occurs during Finalizing with the following errors: Application is shutting down. Unable to retrieve next block transmission command Exception of type 'Veeam.Backup.AgentProvider.AgentClosedException' was thrown What we already tried: Reinstalled the agent Recreated the backup job Updated the agent to 13.0.2.1102 Disabled antivirus for testing Confirmed SMB 3.1.1 Added this registry key:HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Endpoint BackupForceBufferedAccess (DWORD 32-bit) = 1 We also checked VSS earlier: writers are stable and the backup does not
Well... you definitely didn't make this an easy one. 😄 June was packed with great articles. Thank you to everyone who read, voted, and supported your fellow community members!A big round of applause to @Jason Orchard-ingram micro , whose article A free browser-based tool for reading review the VBR environment it uses the VMC.log got the Blog of the Month title for June 2026! Congratulations, Jason, and big thank you to everyone who keeps sharing knowledge, experiences, and tips with the community. Every post helps someone learn something new—and that's what this community is all about. 💚
Hi everyone,Veeam Advisor v2.0 will be available tomorrow. For anyone who hasn't come across it before, Veeam Advisor is a free browser-based tool that reads a VBR diagnostic log (VMC.log) and turns it into a health report you can actually read. It covers things like sizing, licensing, configuration reviews, best-practice checks, and a bunch of other useful information. It's a single HTML file, so there's nothing to install, and all analysis happens locally in your browser. What's new in v2.0?@Dynamic Thanks for the suggestion about new color scheme, Ive gone with a more retro game vibe. The biggest addition is a new Resiliency Map.Upload a VMC log and it generates a visual view of your backup environment, showing backup jobs, repositories, and how data moves through backup copy jobs.I originally built it because I wanted an easy way to answer questions like:"Where does this backup actually end up?"or"Do we really have a second copy of everything?"Seeing it as a diagram makes a lot of
Hi,Recently I change my job. so that i need to change my email address, any one can help me in this issue?
Dear Community, As we transition to Veeam 13 I may be getting a bit lost on the usage/purpose of the above Appliance.I have deployed the VSA ver 13 as in-house demo to explore the features and usage. I also deployed the Veeam Hardened Repository 2.0.0.8 and I like how it makes things easier. However the Usage of the Veeam Infrastructure Appliance which can also be used to deploy the Linux VHR has other roles/features that may not be clear on how they plug-in to the entire deployment. I am reading this part https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/linux_infrastructure_appliance_byb.html?ver=13 and I would like to understand which components that we used to integrate and configure in VBR ver 12 can be compared. Hope its clear. Though I hope for some more Videos on deployment of the same, on the Veeam Youtube channel on the same with demos.
Hello. I have installed the newly released version 13 of the software appliance. I also have a Synology DS923+ NAS. Both devices are separate and are not added to any domain. Could you please advise me on the safest way to connect this NAS to the newly released appliance? I tried to connect to the SMB share, but I am getting Kerberos errors. I have version 12 installed on Windows Server, and the connection works there. Now I am testing the appliance and encountering connection problems. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hello,I am planning to upgrade Veeam Backup & Replication from v12.3.2 to v13.0.2 and would like to understand the expected downtime and processing time.Current environment:Veeam Backup & Replication: 12.3.2 Target version: 13.0.2 Local backup repository: approximately 150 TB Repository type: Local repository (Windows) Number of backup jobs: 80 Number of restore points: 2560 (if relevant)I have two questions:How long does the VBR application upgrade itself typically take when upgrading from 12.3.2 to 13.0.2? After the upgrade, how long should I expect any backup chain metadata upgrades or repository upgrades to take for a repository containing approximately 150 TB of backup data?I understand the actual duration depends on hardware performance and repository design, but I would appreciate any real-world experiences or guidance from others who have performed a similar upgrade.Thank you.
I am a first time Veeam customer trying to set up a new test environment using a trial license in hopes to purchase it but unfortunately have had a lot of trouble setting things up and restores have been a nightmare. I have one physical HPE server that is running the Veeam VSA installed from the latest ISO file. I am able to run a backup of unstructured data but am unable to restore. When I try I get no mount server is available. I have a second physical HPE server that is running Windows Server 2022. I also have a laptop that I’m using just for management with the console installed. The issue is when I go to Backup infrastructure and click on Managed Servers/Microsoft Windows, I see the windows server, we’ll call it backup1.testdomain.com and next to it says “Microsoft Windows server (default Windows mount server).” When I go to Backup repositories, I see Default Backup Repository and the linux VSA box, we’ll call it VSA1 (not joined to a domain). If I go to the properties of VS
This is the second time my Veeam 13 console cannot connect and shows the error below. The first time I faced this issue, I reinstalled VBR and it worked normally. However, now that I am facing it for the second time, I feel there might be a bug in this version. After checking the Veeam services, I found that there are three services that cannot start:Veeam Backup Server RESTful API Service Veeam Explorers Recovery Service Veeam Web ServiceHas anyone else experienced the same issue?
Hello,We are using VSA v13 (linux) and we use powerstrore is there still a integration with Powerstrore, like on v12 windows. There was a installer but this oviously does not work.Even tried it installing on the BR console no luck there
I’m playing with the VHR ISO and wonder how we can add a second LVM volume to the VHR.We do this for RHEL and Ubuntu builds so I’m interested if we can do this with VHR.The sort of scenario would be where you add another bunch of disks or disk shelf into a physical server (and possibly controller) so we can have a physically separate second set of storage rather than buy a new server. Some use cases:You also might want to separate remote site backups onto separate Repo’s for specific regulatory or governance requirements Getting the most value from the physical hardware
Hi all,I’ve been trying to troubleshoot an issue I’ve been having with the Veeam Windows Agent for a few weeks now, and I’m still stumped. I will try to provide as many relevant details as possible, please correct me if any of this is incorrect.I’ve been using this Veeam product for around 10 months. My use case is that I want to have a secure, offline backup of my laptop’s main SSD. So once a month, I connect a 2TB external HDD (Seagate, NTFS) to one of my laptop’s USB 3.0 ports, and run a volume level backup of just the SSD (this is the drive the OS is installed on). The laptop is running Windows 10 and the latest version of the Veeam Agent.Until recently, everything worked flawlessly. The issue began when I noticed the HDD was quickly filling up, and I realised that I had not specified how long Veeam should keep backups for, so all incremental backups were being stored. So, I edited the job and set that setting to 8 days - reading the online manual, this would mean that since the ex
When creating a backup job with VMs in a ovirt cluster, you are not allowed to select all VMs associated to that cluster. You have to individually select each one for that job. This is not ideal if your VM inventory changes and you are not aware. Why can’t ovirt we have the same function as VMW cluster backups.
Hello Im very new to Veeam and i installed on a server Veeam Backup and Replication. Now i get this error message: (it never worked) I read that the API Service needs to be started, but this is not working and an error occurs. Also its not possible do uninstall the Veeam Software with the Error → Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. It is the adiminstrator user. The new Update i was able to install but also after this update from march i get the same error message. Does anyone have a idea how i can fix this issue?
