I have installed Veeam Software Appliance on fresh hardware. My intent is to recreate my backup infrastructure around it and then deprecate my current Windows server that handles the jobs. I am not finding anywhere to download a license key for version 13. It does not show in my account portal as an option for generating a key.

Backup Job using Storage Snapshot Unable to Find Ontap SnapMirror Relationship for Secondary Target. Backup finished with Warning: Cannot find any relevant ONTAP SnapMirror and SnapVault relationships   Storage Replication between the Source and Target destinations is working. I was looking at the job log and saw that Veeam was able to identify Primary SnapProtections.   There were lines showing WARNING: Replication of all disk snapshots of vm asdasdfasf is not possible for ‘Snapshot Replication’. Thanks again for your input as to possible reasons why this is happening.  

I have been (legally) ordered to provide “any and all” copies of backups for a client dating back two years. Veeam 8.1.2 Community runs on a Win10 Virtual Machine and runs 3 routines dailyExchange, SharePoint + Teams, OneDriveManual restore will take a year and $9K of external USB hard drives.Wondering if there is a way to give them a copy of the Veeam virtual machine with backups disabled and the only restore options are save locally. I do not want them to accidentally trigger a restore job that overwrites the live data.Disabling the 3 jobs is not appealing because they can be enabled easily.I changed the global admin password associated with the organization but did not affect Veeam operation.  This would allow us to continue to the original Veeam backup server for daily backups.In typing this, it seems that providing them with a searchable and restorable archive is what I am looking for.  Plus it cannot interfere with the ongoing backup of the live data.I am grateful for any suggest

Hello Team,I just finished setting up Veeam backup community edition 12.2 and added Proxmox VE server into Veeam backup.  Now, I tried to configure “worker”, but it was failed.  I used DHCP and set static IP address.  The error I got was “Failed to obtain an IP address: The operation timeout exceeded” and “Worker xxxx(hostname) test failed.  I am not sure if worker name should be registered in DNS record, or it should be any hostname which doesn’t exist in DNS?  I tried to both of them, but I still have no luck.Also, the worker host seemed to be created on Proxmox VE server.  I can see this and I can ping this from Veeam backup host (Windows 11 PC).   I appreciate for you help!!

Hi,I’m new to Veeam family and doing initial deployment.What is recommendation for backup jobs - one job for one VM? or group more VMs which could be same schema of backup in one backup job? how much it affects deduplication?Is ReFS deduplication compatible with also enabled job deduplication? Hi, my backup is showing this error, can someone please help me? Both machines are VMs in Hyper-V.  

I started my first backup on the 9th. I have retention set to 12 days and Synthetic on Saturdays (default)  . No files have yet been removed from my NAS. I have attached details 9kinow there are extra backups on some days) but its over 12 days now. When will deletion start ? Tony

Does VAMWF support scheduled backup jobs?  I was able to create one with the GUI, but it didn’t run, probably because there was no entry in Task Scheduler.

It is only home network 192.x.x.x using  hyper-v switch.  The network referenced in the error strictly a closed vlan for security cams which is a secondary nic on the host server.  The host server and domain controller backup fine but the win11 clients Veeam keeps trying to use secondary nic which is not connected to the vm. AD DNS does not have any enters for the other network.  so somehow it Veeam is trying to use the host server nics at will.I have set the global traffic preferred network to the home network. makes non difference disabled all firewalls on all devices not joy same error.  my only other thought would be to force all the firewall rules to a scope for th

I back up our Organization sites nightly. Sometimes I get a warning on a job that a site was deleted and I have to go into the job and remove the deleted site from the backup. Is there any way for deleted sites to just be removed from the backup automatically? So the program is only backing up what exists?  Note that currently ‘select objects to back up’ is set to ‘back up the following objects’ which is 23 of 25 sites. So I don’t have ‘Back up entire organization’ selected. Although would that maybe be my fix and dynamically adjust what sites are available to back up? 

Hi all,looking for real-world guidance on NIC sizing for a Linux Hardened Repository.Context (VBR 12.x or 13.x ; Linux appliance vs Windows?): Repository: Linux Hardened Repo (XFS, immutability). Repo server NIC options: either 2×10/25GbE or 4×10/25GbE. Backup server/proxies can also be 2×10/25GbE or 4×10/25GbE. Primary storage for the VMware workloads will be either 32G FC (Direct SAN from proxies) or 10/25GbE iSCSI. Single site, LAN backups (no WAN in the data path). Goal: Max throughput and resilience without adding complexity that doesn’t pay off.Has anyone measured a meaningful improvement going from 2×25GbE to 4×25GbE on a single Linux repo?What actually worked (or didn’t) in your environments —  “wish-I-knew” lessons appreciated :-)

Hello.I tried to uninstall 6.3.2.1205 on Windows Server 2019. Control panel / Uninstall programs... Uninstallation reported that there are more users logged in. I clicked cancel uninstallation. Veeam disappeared from list of installed Programs. When I tried to install 6.3.2.1302 the error pops up »The installation cannot be updated automatically. Please contact Veeam support for assistance with manual update. «I did several reboots. I removed Veeam folders from Program Files and ProgramData, I removed Veeam key from registry (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam). Still “cannot be updated…”How can I convince Veeam Agent installer that I do not want to update. I just want to freshly install or repair installation.Regards, Tomaž

Verified repository free space. Restarted Veeam services and checked network connectivity.Despite this, all backups are failing. The error seems tied to retention policy cleanup and possibly network access to the NAS.

Good afternoon, all!My customer is at the very front edge of a complete virtualization refresh - hardware, software, virtualization platform, the whole picture.We’re currently using Veeam B&R and VeeamONE to support our VMware stack, with an onsite performance layer and a cloud storage tier for long-term archiving.If we moved to Hyper-V or Nutanix, would we be able to retain our VMware-based backups for file and data recovery or would we need to repatriate and convert?Thanks!

Dear Community, Recently, I encountered an issue while running a scheduled backup job using Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. The backup failed with the error "Failed to create VSS snapshot."Successfully resolved the issue, and I’d like to share the steps I took in case they help. Solution That Worked:Simply by restarting the VSS (Volume Shadow Copy) service, which might have become unstable or stuck. Here’s what I did:Opened an Command Prompt (Run as Administrator)Ran the following commands:net stop vss net start vss You can also restart these services in services.msc:Volume Shadow Copy Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider That’s it! Hi Community, I’m facing an issue where Veeam ONE Reporting Service (VeeamRSS.exe) cannot communicate with Veeam ONE Monitoring Service (VeeamDCS.exe). The error message states:  The Monitoring service appears to be stopped or inaccessible. Has anyone encountered this before? What could cause the Monitoring service to become unavailable? Any insights or best practices to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Hello everyone, I am trying to connect the Veeam software appliance and my NAS via iSCSI. It won't work directly, so I installed Veeam Infrastructure Server, where I tried to connect the NAS, but I have no idea how to connect it there. I looked through the documentation, but couldn't find anything. Could you please advise me?Thank you in advance.

Not sure if many are aware but I found this out today with my VHRs deployed from the JeOS ISO that the WebUI on port 10443 is disabled by default so you cannot connect to it.  You need to log in via a console (if a VM) and enable it to connect.  You will see a banner at the top about disabling once you are done which is just a click.Learning something new each day with v13. 😎
