Veeam backup job failed

We are setting up a test backup job for a VM.  After creating and running the backup it fails with the following error:  “Failed to create processing task for VM Error:  No such host is known”  I’m also a newbie to the Veeam environment.  I logged into the Veeam server to ping the VM in question and was able to get a response.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thanks to all that responded, issue resolved.  Had to ad the certificates of every VMware esxi hosts to the Backup servers store as well as host file records in domain zone.

Are you able to ping the vCenter or ESXi host from the Veeam server?  What did you add to Veeam the host or vCenter?  I would start there.

Adding our solution here in case someone comes across this in future Googling. We had 2 Veeam Proxies in our VMWare Backup jobs, and the 1st one’s networking had failed. Pinging the 1st proxy from Vcenter and an ESXi host’s bash revealed this. Was running on a Windows VM and the nic had died for some reason.

In our case, the backup jobs managed to backup the vms that chose the working proxy, but if they chose the offline one resulted in “Soap fault. No such host is known”
