Hello to share a new vulnerabilitySpringShell attacks target about one in six vulnerable orgs (bleepingcomputer.com)(1) New Messages! (checkpoint.com)Spring4Shell: Detect and mitigate vulnerabilities in Java Spring | Dynatrace | Dynatrace newsWhat is Spring4Shell?Spring4Shell is a critical vulnerability in the Spring Framework, an open source platform for Java-based application development. Because 60% of developers use Spring for their main Java applications, many applications are potentially affected.Spring is popular because it enables software engineers to more easily write and test code to maintain modular applications. Other libraries enable developers to become less dependent on enterprise web servers and, therefore, reduce configuration complexity and cost.Spring4Shell is one of three vulnerabilities published on March 30:Spring Core RCE (critical): CVE-2022-22965 a.k.a. Spring4Shell or SpringShell Affected library: org.springframework:spring-bean Information exposure in Spring
hello everybody, i want to backup my server ubuntu to external repository (Google cloud storage).i find folder result backup from veeam on google cloud storage. How to restore from the google cloud storage file to vm like Aws EC2 or GCP ? This file a result SOBR from veeam to google cloud storage
Veeam Backup & Replication supports and understands vSphere tags allowing the creation of Backup and Replication Jobs by selecting VMs to backup based on Tags.Tags concept was introduced in vSphere 5.5 and basically it is a label you can assign to any object (VMs, storage and so on...) in the vSphere inventory. You can assign a tag to a specific category to better identify a VM type or simply the installed OS.The use of Tags during Jobs configuration is pretty easy to configure. In the configuration wizard click Add button to add objects to backup. Click the tag icon to display VMs and Tags, select the item you want to include in the job then click Add.Using Tags you no longer need to edit a specific Backup or Replication Job to add or remove a VM. A simple click in the Tags panel of the particular VM in vSphere Client does the trick. No Backup tag?... why you should use it? Well, the No Backup Tag can be used to specify which VMs are not included in any backup on purpose. In big en
Today, we lose a Veeam Legend! For those that don’t know, you can’t be a Veeam Legend if you’re employed by Veeam. And that is what we celebrate today! 🥳 @Mildur officially joins Veeam today as a Product Management Analyst.I’m proud to call Mildur a friend (and Detective, Detective Friend?) since first meeting him here on the Community Hub back in 2020. It doesn’t take long to observe the depth of knowledge and passion he has for Veeam products and he shares this freely with the community. Today Veeam have taken on an amazing addition to their family.Congrats Mildur!
Hello Team, I am working on a project where customer would like to backup their M365 data (mailbox, onedrive, sharepoint etc.) using Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 and also backup Azure VMs using Veeam Backup & Replication. I see Azure has both these available in the market place. So if I use them and deploy them directly on Azure Subscription it is good enough right? Or should I need any other instance of Veeam Backup and Replication or Veeam Backup for M365 in on-premise infra or Azure VM etc.? Cause I saw this video - Here I see the Veeam is installed else where and we are trying to connect to cloud appliance. So I am confused
Hi team, I have a new backup I am running that is failing at the first full. It fails and says that it cannot find a VMDK file that is located in an excluded disk. The error reads: “Processing servername Error: File 'X.vmdk' was not found. This disk is a USB attached storage device, but it was added to vmware as an iscsi drive so that we can exclude it in VBR. I have double checked the disk exclusions and confirmed that I have told the job to only back up the correct disks (the disks that aren’t this USB attached storage). I have also checked the checkbox to remove excluded disks from configuration. The file is present in vcenter. I checked. I can’t figure out what is going on and why this job is failing due to a file that should not even matter because I have excluded from the job, the disk the file is located on.
This is more of a processing issue but . . . I have one VBR system that processes some rather large file servers. We’re going to be setting up Scale Out Repo to Wasabi into an object locking bucket. When Veeam locally merges the latest incremental into a new full, does it push the complete newly created full out to the bucket or is there some magic that happens where Veeam is only updating the current full that’s sitting out in the cloud. People with small internet pipes want to know. With a small domain server it’s no big deal to push 20gig but when it’s 25TB…..I’m also going to assume since Veeam is in control of the object locking and retention, I won’t have to figure out when things will be unlocked and the magical merge is going to happen. Thanks ahead of time.
Hi !I’m using the extract utility for test all the password of encrypted jobs and it work well. Just a problem when the password contain a double quotes (“).I pass the good password but it seem that the extract utlity fails when we used password with double quote. The main command i use is that one : .\Extract.exe -dir $full_dir -password $mdpI got the error message “Password is incorrect”obviously I already have verified the password and he is correct. Does anyone have an idea ? or do i have to change all the password that contain a double quote ?

I am not sure how many of you use or have looked in to Wasabi S3 storage that are in Canada but they have now got a region within Toronto that can be used for their storage offerings. I use this in my homelab to send my Veeam backups to and will now work to migrate from the US-East region to Canada. Great expansion for Wasabi and offering to Canadians now. What are the service URLs for Wasabi's different storage regions? – Wasabi Knowledge Base (zendesk.com)
Sometimes you just want to do a quick test which requires S3.You can in seconds flat setup a Minio instance on your laptop for this purpose.Go to Minio’s download page: Run the Powershell command as shown in the instructions: Minio will be downloaded: The instructions on the Minio page say to set a username and password. I did this below but when I brought up Minio it still had the default password. Create a directory where your test buckets will reside: Now run the server: As you can see the root user was still the default minioadmin and password minioadmin but for testing purposes we can leave that, or you can login and make the change. Go to your browser and type your laptop ip address in the url and port 9000 http://your ip:9000 Login and create a bucket by pressing the circled button in the lower right: Bucket created you are ready to go!! Keep in mind this is an http S3 setup. For testing VBR capacity tier offload you would need to use https or use a registry key in Veeam
Hello,I am working as System, Virtu and Backup engineer.Currently designing a VBO architecture for a customer who has a huge amount of data in Azure O365.I see everywhere on the forums problems with VBO 1st backup speed even on quite small environment.Do you have any reference or use cases about customers with more than 5000 users, or 5000 SharePoint sites and how long it took to perform the fisrt backup ?Is VBO well suited for this kind of customer with more than 100 TB of data in AZURE to INGEST ?Would it be a good strategy to fix a short retention (5 days) to catch few object on the first run and then change it to 10 days for the 2nd run and so on in order to reduce the overall amount for each run ? Or does not make sense as after each retention change the job will start as if it is the first time ?
After my last post highlighting the Veeam software that reaches end of support in 2022, I wanted to expand this further and discuss software that Veeam works with that will be approaching end of life in 2022. Why does this matter when I’m just trying to protect the data?Times change, and software changes with them, until it’s no longer supported. At any point, a patch to an operating system, a .NET framework update, or anything else really, could end up with the software no longer being backed up properly, or not working at all in production. Without valid support there’s no process to get a fix, and whilst your backup software may still be in support with Veeam, if the vendor won’t fix the problem, it’s time to start panicking. With this in mind, lets explore the software & operating systems being declared end of life in 2022 so we can start planning our upgrades/migrations if necessary. MicrosoftWe may as well start with one of, or potentially the largest software vendor in the wo

Well, I certainly can’t plan for when Fun Friday falls on April Fools, but here we are. So, everyone, I invite you to share your April Fools stories here, but also, I invite you to share recent stories that you WISH were April Fools. April Fools:A UK ISP has announced their retirement of their IPv6 ‘trial’ after 20 years, citing ‘colons just don’t belong in IP addresses’: https://www.aa.net.uk/etc/news/ipv6-end-of-trial/ Not April Fools:https://www.dyson.co.uk/newsroom/dyson-zone (announced 30th March)
Hi,Though I know the answer but still curious to know, Can anyone migrated backed up data from HP Data Protector to Veeam Backup & Replication? Is there any automation/Tool available to perform this? Secondly, if my VBR 9.5 Tape Server is running on Windows 2008 & I am installing a new VBR V11a on Windows 2019 with new tape server & Drives. Does new VBR V11 will be able to read the files from old tapes? Regards,Sunny
Hi all,I have an issue on our Veeam ONE server and I could not find the root cause of performance charts delay. The server has been upgraded to Veeam ONE v11 recently and the issue happened after upgrade.Deployment type: Advanced Scalability Deployment modeDatabase: External SQL Server 2019There is no performance issue on the server. Monitoring server and database server are placed on Flash datastore. Could you please help me to resolve the issue if there is misconfiguration?
VMware just release vCenter 7.0 U3d this week. Just list out some key resolved issues for reference:Deploying a virtual machine by using an OVF template might fail on a cluster with VMware NSX-T Data Center Incremental patches of vCenter Server 7.x fail with Exception occured in postInstallHook error When you try to log in to the vSphere Client, you get an error that you cannot connect to the vCenter Single Sign-On server https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/rn/vsphere-vcenter-server-70u3d-release-notes.html
Hi Everyone, The countdown to World Backup Day 2022 continues! If you missed the previous Fun Friday post/game then check it out here! I want to stick with the fun theme here and have a new game. I’ll provide a scenario and you can choose what type of backup YOU would want, and leave a comment as to the why below! There’s no right or wrong here, just perspectives. What has worked for you? What gave you buyers remorse and made you want to choose something else? Scenario:You’re responsible for data protection in your organisation and have asked for budget to get some form of immutability or airgapped backup in-place. You have only one chance to get your budget approved and need to justify why you believe it is best. What do you go for? Why? Infrastructure:You have a simple three-node vSphere cluster running 20VMs, total production size of 10TB. This is connected to the internet via a 1Gbps link with a 1Gbps MPLS connection to a DR site, this has three-nodes and no production workloads. Yo
Here’s a collection of scripts that can be used to automate the setup and configuration of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Restore Portal. These scripts can be used for VB365 environments protecting a single Microsoft 365 Organization and for those with multiple Microsoft 365 Organizations in a multi-tenant setup (like in a Service Provider scenario). For more detailed information, please follow the VeeamHub link:https://github.com/VeeamHub/powershell/tree/master/VB365-RestorePortalSetup
