Greetings everyone...I am working out the resources for physical backup server with local disks. Might I know if my workout is correct?Data size: 30TB (Exchange + File Share)Policy: 30 daily, 4 weekly, 12 monthly, 3 yearlySource: Sangfor HCI (requires to install agent), single siteAs refer to VSE https://calculator.veeam.com/vse/Backup Server + DB + Repository = 8 CPU, 20GB RAM for Veeam to work(No Proxy and Enterprise Manager required)And will add some resources for Windows OS Regarding storage, 249.43TB from VSE  So I add some buffer and for Windows OS with ~300TB disks space Assumptions:ReFSNo backup copy jobGeneric Pessimistic: daily change 10%, compress ratio 50%, annual growth 10% Is my thinking correctly?

Recently I had to troubleshoot a Veeam Backup & Replication (B&R) problem. There the question popped up which are the running Veeam jobs at point or period of time. The GUI is not a big help to answer this question. Therefore I wrote a small script that show these jobs.The following PowerShell script snippet is quite simple. First, start- (tStart) and end-date/time (tEnd) are asked for input. If it happened Error 1327.Invalid Drive when you try to upgrade the Veeam server, don’t panic. This is likely caused by a stale registry entry for the Veeam server. In my case, the Veeam server had an F drive but removed it a long time ago. My error message is Error 1327.Invalid Drive F: and the upgrade failed.1.login to the Veeam management server.2.Run regedit.3.check the following registry path on the Veeam server. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Veeam\Veeam Backup Catalog\ and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wor6432Node\Veeam, do either of these paths show the F drive? Likely it will be the VBR catalog folder in my case.4.Right-click CatalogPath, select Modify.5.Change the Value data from F:\VBRCatalog to C:\VBRCatalog, click OK.6.Re-run upgrade again. The error message should be gone.

I have a customer on Veeam v12 which backs up to Data domain. Veeam performs a copy job to another mtree, then the DD performs a DD replication to a central immutable DD.Customer has space issues but we are seeing old veeam backup files still on the DD. We did a delete from disk for an old backup, but the file is still on the DD.Any recommendations or seen this sort of behaviour?I’m questioning whether Veeam is cleaning up old data. Backup copy retention is only 5 days.

Hello, Last night our backup job took much longer then normal Looking through the job history I saw one user with 51GB of data processed. This is very much out of the norm for him. I asked the user if they had done anything or added any folders and they are not aware of anything.My questions is, where or how can i see a log of the files processed, or even a compare feature from last nights backup to 2 days ago. I am just not able to find an easy way to see what was the 51GB that was processed.

Veeam has recently been upgraded from 11a to v12. Post upgrade we cant get into the web interface for Veeam ONE. Client app works….I’ve checked IIS, local logs etc, cant see anything….anyone seen this?  

hello, can I use socket based licenses (currently in use on a VBR v10 server) for a new VBR v12 server? Or is there some kind of conversion/upgrade process involved?kind regards,Wim

I have a physical server with VBR 12 installed, the customer now also wants VBM and as repository the same as VBR, Say what against installing VBM on the same server as VBR?

Just had to troubleshoot a not-working Agent backup job. Up to now, everything worked fine. Since last night, job fails. Error shown: [Task failed. Error: Failed to connect to servername:11731]Even in logs this error is shown: The problem seems to be communication with port 11731. This port is used for agent-deployment. No changes were made to the firewalls in this particular environment. So this could not be the cause of the problem.After a short phone call it turned out that the account used to communicate with the agent had been added to the Protected Users Security Group. But this group is not intended for adding service accounts. After removing the user, backup worked fine again.I hope this post saves some time in troubleshooting

Hi, I created new jobs to organize Exchange groups and Teams groups since my company was previosly configured to backup the whole organization, Now that the backup is set up and backing up for about a month is time to disable the original job, if I disable and delete the job, would that release the previously used licenses for any aditional user that is not on the new jobs ? Thanks in advance.

after the update to v12 there are legacy copy jobs, can i leave them as they are or should i update them and how?

Also new in v12 is the Best Practice Analyzer in VBR console.  In Beta2 there are 6 tests divided into two categories: Security settings and product configuration. The individual points are self-explanatory.  I hope that more and more tests will be added to this feature in next versions.
