Hello,Are there any advices on how to have better performance for our “air-gapped” or “immutable” backup on site.We have two locations, Austria and Serbia.VBR Server is located in Austria where our critical infrastructure resides also.Veeam is configured to do regular Backups to the Synology NAS located also in Austria.After that we configure to do Backup Copy Jobs (immidiate) from Austria to Serbia.In Serbia we have one main Synology NAS and other one also Synology for air-gapped.I would try to do something like this:1. Configure Power Schedule on NAS to be powered only on weekends.2. Configure Backup Copy Jobs and chose source as Serbia backups that are already copied from Austria and send it to the smaller NAS in Vienna. There is also few other solutions, to automate this with rsync if possible, to manual copy from one nas to another, or just to create regular backup jobs but then it will go trough IPSec and it will be a lot slower.Is there any option to connect them maybe directly

Hey all,We have Veeam (12.0.0.1420) backup jobs with a secondary target to tape.I noticed that the tape jobs were saying they took 21 hours to complete which is strange.  Seems that the tape job is starting before the backup job.We have the vm backups start at 9pm and they take about 2 hours to complete.  The tape backup starts at 9am.Example: I saw the tape backup start at 9am on a Monday, then wait until the vm backup that starts at 9pm that night finish.Not sure how it got out of whack.  The backups are still working I guess but is there a way to reset the timing?  Delete and re-add the backup job?  Maybe just re-add the secondary target to the backup job? thanksjc

Hello Veeam community 🖐🏻I have a question regarding Backup Job Encryption and Backup Copy Job Encryption.What is the general advices on this.I have different encryption passwords for each Backup Job.The question is here, do I need to enable encryption for Backup Copy Job or it will use the original encryption that we already have configured on regular Backup Job’s.

Hi All, Looking to check if my thinking is correct for this Invoking DR Scenario with the assumption that the Veeam console config backup is available to the IT Team outside the on prem issue. The solution is: on premises there is a NAS as VEEAM repo connected into a hyperv Veeam windows VM. Backups target NAS as performance tier in SOBR then tier to Azure BLOB via COPY every night. The Scenario is: the whole on premises has failed and we want to ‘Direct restore to Azure’ from the BLOB beam backups. My Solution: I believe you would need to deploy an Azure IaaS windows VM, install Veeam Console, then restore the Veeam config file. Enter credentials to connect to Azure account, then you would be able to see the Veeam backups in BLOB, right click and select to restore to Azure Is this correct? Thanks    

Hi Everyone, Has anyone performed a VBR 10 to a VBR 12 upgrade. I am going to search here and the forums for any pleasant surprises that might be waiting but thought I would throw out the hook and bait for some saucy nightmare tale.According to this https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/upgrade_vbr_byb.html?ver=120License ist gut! and it is supported which make feel secure. Obviously, I would want to check the whole GFS situation but I believe none a present. Be Aware So has anybody done this and encountered anything untoward? Thanks

Hi All,I have restored two servers using veeam backup and replication. Both servers restored successfully but to a different host. However, when I login I get “No logon servers avaialble . . . “ error, I am also unable to login using the local administrator account.The Network is pointing to the server network on the new host and I don’t see any errors or anything glaringly obvious. I had Application-aware processing enabled on one of the restored server jobs but not the other. But I am unable to login to any of them.I did restore a server last week without any issues and was able to login to the Domain without any issues. Can someone offer any advice as I need to move servers off this host and the only way to do this is by Veeam backup. I have no option to migrate via vmotion or directly via the Hosts themselves.Thanks in anticipation.  

Hi TeamPossible to have one line command or script which can be ran on computer to check if backup is successful or not. This command will help me( probably others too!!) before the installation of windows update. Planning to run as pre-deployment task where patch management software checks if last backup is older then 4 days and its success, then patch installation will proceed or else patch deployment will wait until it see status as success. I think it will work better with exit code. Like Exit code=1;success and Exit Code=0 failure?In recent time we have see some laptop getting crashed, due to incorrect windows updates applied (restart of laptop by user) and we found that system cannot be restored using restore point since boot files corrupted. 

Is there any best practices when implementing these two into work?Currently we have it setup as a SMB share folders and Veeam is sending backups to it.I did a little bit of research and saw that people are using ISCSI and connecting Synology drive to Windows Server and using it like that. As I can see they are using ReFS File System.What would be the best optimization when we have Veeam + Synology in our Environment.Veeam B&R and our main Synology are located in the same location within same subnet.After that main Backup is done we have a Backup Copy Job trough IPSec to our Branch Office where we also have Synology NAS with SMB share.With ISCSI I saw that people are using FastClone and I’m not familiar with it at all. What is the use of it?Any advices are welcomed 😀

Hi all, Everyone that knows me knows that I am a massive Python geek and data science nerd outside of being a full time nerd. Anyway I’ve been working on a YouTube series on using the Veeam API with Python showing the long way and the easy way to connect, discover, manipulate and visualize data from the APIs.I will be doing deep dives later in the series as well as creating interesting apps and widgets with one of Python’s many libraries. I have noticed that if I go to Veeam Backup and Replication and look at our SOBR’s Space Usage Graph under the Summary tab, it shows just one day (e.g. it shows just Sat 9x instead of different days). This happened when we upgraded to version 12.  Monthly Summary shows one set of datesWhat setting if any should I change? I have updated to the latest patch and still shows the same. Version 11 did not give me this issue.

I’m working on a server that someone else setup, so I don’t know much on it’s config sorry, but it’s Veeam backup & replication 12.I’m trying to restore an ad object, so i’ve found our AD server in the backup list, went to Application items and chose active directory.When it brings up our AD, I can find the deleted user, and when I choose to restore objects it asks for credentials to connect to: ad.mydomain.com.auI’ve tried all my credentials including the domain admin one, and it just keeps erroring with the message: The supplied credential is invalid.I’ve tried with just the username, with domain/username, with username@domain and it always shows credential is invalid.Any ideas?

Good morning, I’m new to veeam and my company would like to perform a health assessment on our existing veeam infrastructure. I just had a situation in a customer environment where the customer complained that a restored VM had more disks than the one that was backed up before (6 instead of 5 for a SQL Server VM).The recovery was done using Entire VM Restore - User Guide for VMware vSphere (veeam.com).When restoring to the original location, Veeam prompts you that the original VM will be deleted first:At first, I though this was related to the user that Veeam uses to access vCenter no having the appropriate rights. For example, the user does not have permissions to delete the VM.But then I noticed that the additional disk to be 200GB in size. The old state the we wanted to restore only had 2x100, 2x300 and 1x500. So where did the 200GB disk come from?It turns out that the size of this disk was adjusted by the VMware team a few weeks ago (100 → 200). We wanted to restore from an older state with the 100GB still there. Could this be the reason? Does VBR leave resized disks being alone while recovering and adds
