I am trying to upgrade Veeam B&R Community Edition from v10 to v12.1 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 physical server. During the upgrade process System Configuration Check the result shows that Microsoft Powershell v5.1 requires a reboot, and the installation process will continue after reboot. After I reboot the installation process begins again from the beginning, resulting in the same message. So this has created a loop. I manually installed Powershell 7.1 but it appears the OS considers this a separate version from the original Powershell 4 version. So it doesn’t appear that the B&R installer realizes PS 7.1 is installed. How do I get around this installation loop? I have tried uninstalling B&R and starting from scratch, but the same issue appears. TIA

Hello, I recently installed B&R 12 Community Edition to backup a large file server to tape (about 36TB in one server).The disk backup is done to a QNAP NAS connected via iSCSI to the HyperV Server that hosts the VM (needed to use iSCSI as the QNAP NAS does not support files larger than 16TB).The backup to disk results in a 32TB VBK file. The tape drive is connected to another server running the Veeam Installation.Running a Backup to Tape job on the (VSS snapshotted) backup folder however behaves weirdly: right now after 48 hours the job progress is 99% with 88,9 TB of 88,9 TB transferred to tape but that number keeps on growing to 89 TB of 89 TB and so on. Yesterday it was at 99% with 50 TB of 50 TB transferred.The iSCSI target hosting the backup only has 50 TB in total disk space so reading 88 TB from that drive is rather unlikely.The job states "Continuing task for <VBK-File>" and the task.<Hostname>.performer_1.log gives me the line after the last tape swap on the au

How to retain VMs brought up using VDRO longer than 7 days?In order for us to retain the VMs past 7 days, we decided to basically stop Veeam services on our VDRO server. Needless to say, our VDRO is inoperable at this state. We’d like to bring it up and not affect the VMs that were created. So I think, this means that we need to modify entries in the VDRO database to “cleanly” remove this from VDRO but un-touch on the vSphere side. We can rename the objects in vSphere but not sure if this would work since VDRO may be using object IDs in its DB instead of object name. The VM involves is a big DB and just running a DB check took about a week and after this a patch needs to be applied necessitating another check that is why we need it longer than 7 days. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. I have also opened a low sev ticket with support and will share what they recommend.
Is there a way to set/adjust the spacing on the Veeam O365 job reports? Seems like a lot of unnecessary word wrapping going on.

I get the error Failed to connect to Veeam backup and Replication Server: object ... has been disconnected or does not exist at the the server.This is happening when trying to connect to the Veeam Console on the localhost.I have to reboot the server to resolve this issue, the server then seems to run OK but then later when the daily replication jobs (2) are run, the server seems to stop responding sometime during the 2nd replication job.Any suggestions on how to resolve this.

We have a job configured in Veeam Plug-in for Rman, version 12, and retention is not working. With this Plugin, we configure everything from the Veeam console, I attach images. The retention is 7 days, the repository is a disk (not tape), a level 0 backup runs on Tuesdays and differential every day. The jobs finish fine, without alerts, but on the seventh day nothing is deleted. Question: do I have to configure something else in Rman? We did not find any more Rman options when configuring the Plugin from the Veeam console. Thank you

I’m migrating my Veeam install to new brand new VM. The original Veeam server is Windows 2019 running Veeam B & R & Veeam ONE. When researching backup strategies, I think I understand that Veeam creates “snapshots” which are backups, which need to be restored, which can take time… I.e. if my OS drive fails, I need to boot into a Preboot Environment (PE) or Recovery Environment (RE), then start the restore process, which might take hours. But in theory, with a separate hard drive with a cloned version of the OS, I could swap the drive, and boot up into a working OS installation in approximately 5 minutes. But I can’t find any explanation if Veeam offers the ability to create an image or clone of a full drive and or partition, and I am asking if there is a reason for this omission?I have read on other websites that the built-in Windows 7 create system image “feature” is not to be trusted, it is old and no longer supported.Therefore it seems like an Imaging / Cloning feature would be important to make Veeam a complete protection solution.Otherwise I need to buy some other software to get an automated imaging / cl

I’m setting up a QNAP TVS-871 which has 4 x 1Gb interfaces. I just watch this video about performance related to different types of link aggregation. My switch (setup by someone else) is set for LACP was planning on using 802.3ad… but now I’m not sure.Does VEEAM gather the files and make them appear as 1 file transfer or can it transfer multiple at a time? Will link aggregation protocol make a difference for VEEAM?Can someone help me understand because I’m sort of new and working on a live office network of 30 people so I can’t play around too much.
