Solved

Actually I have tried to install v12 RTM as a in-place upgrade on 4 customer servers now and all fail.Veeam support has been on remote session and we will continue the work tomorrow since it also failed at last attempt after hours of troubleshooting. Would be interesting to hear if there is anyone else who has been issues with the upgrade? The servers I have tested has the latest v11 build and server 2016. Very simple deployments with few config settings so no big issue. But so far I am a bit concerned to start upgrading larger deployments.

Hi All,Currently we are using Agent managed backup jobs. When we perform the decommission of backup jobs/remove a computer/workstation from backup job/rotation, we have to keep track of the retention of deleted computer/job manually and to remove the backup copies from ‘Disk(Orphaned)’/’Disk(Imported)’ . We have also enabled the ‘Remove deleted items data after’ parameter. But still we could see some scenarios were we want to delete the backup copies manually. My expectation is Veeam to delete the backup copies automatically once it crosses the set retention (even after the job/computer is removed from backup rotation). Is there a way to achieve it?

Hello,I am currently looking for a way to generate a report / extract of the backup execution status for 1 machine for the entire last year.Is there a way to do this using Powershell, SQL or something else? Thanks for your help

i just try to deploy Kasten on tanzu kubernetes cluster and have the error:  Any idea?

I am currently using Veeam B&R V11a. I also just installed Veeam One. As part of Veeam B&R, I have several windows servers which have the “Veeam agent for microsoft windows” agent installed. None of the servers  with “Veeam agent for microsoft windows” agent are showing up in Veeam One. The data collection method for Veeam One is set to “Veeam Backup Data only”, would I need to change it to a different “Data Collection” mode?

I am building new physical server running Ubuntu. System is installed on hardware RAID controller. Installed VEEAM agent, made full backup. Booted up from Linux Media (unpatched), restored all volumes and after reboot server can’t boot any more =( Any suggestions?Cheers,

Hi dear Veeam community, i’m wondering if it’s possible to migrate the configuration database to a PostgreSQL DB on a Ubuntu host? Can’t find anything about that.I’ve setup the db but i’m facing an error:  The port on the ubuntu is listening, credentials are correct.Does someone have a clue?Best regards :-)

Any gotchas/considerations you would like to share?

I have Kasten installed on Openshift. Infra nodes consume kasten license. Why is that? Can i prevent it? Can i see which nodes consume my license.

A few years ago we were a Service Provider with a Cloud Connect setup and offered our customers Cloud Connect Repositories. We then saw tjen object storage really started to take off it would be costly to maintain a datacenter with this service compared to the prices object storage was offered by the hyperscalators! We then started a partnership who ran Veeam Cloud Connect environemnt with service provider console. so we could still track and monitor our customers backupjob etc. but the backup now went to the object storages. I am just wondering, is it necessary to deploy a cloud connect environment at all to just use the service provider console for monitoring jobs, update the agents etc.? I can see in the marketplace (Azure) there is a dedicate appliance with the service provider console. Would that be enough to maintain our clients? We are now using Wasabi for repositories. I guess I am having a hard time to see what we would gain from the cloud connect environment these days? (Perh

Hi all, today I updated my Veeam Agents Free for Windows to the new version 6.x. I read about this version is no longer using SQL Express LocalDB and this is also written in the release notes. But looking in the installed software the SQL Express LocalDB is still installed. So I’m asking if SQL Express LocalDB is still needed for the Veeam Agent Free for Windows?Thank You and Kind Regeards

Hi everyone,So as you can see, I have a valid Veeam.com account and I have had it for several years now. But a few months ago, I was in the midst of some important task and logging into Veeam.com to download some software, when I was suddenly presented with a form to do… something. I can’t quite remember exactly what the purpose of it was, but Veeam wanted some additional information from me, for some reason. This included an email address, which was extra confusing since Veeam already had a valid email address for me on file. So I gave it junk data, including the email. After that though, I’m now presented with a form to verify said junk email, and I’m not allowed to access my account information until this has happened.I’m assuming I’m not the first person to have done this, since email@domain.com was already taken! At this point, I’m really just asking for forgiveness for my sin of entering junk data, in the hopes that I can have full access restored to my Veeam account. If anyone he

HiI m not sure i using the correct term in the topics, i understand in Veeam backup we can create additional proxy server to handle more backup workload. how about in K10? if the environment growing larger and we need more concurrent backup and handle more workload, how K10 approach? thank youkelvin koh

Greetings,Below is a part of Cohesity's multi-layered protection against a ransomware attack as mentioned in the Cohesity datasheet, there is a document for best practices when configuring carving regular repositories and/or SOBR from Cohesity to the Veeam Server and this is can be done over SMB or NFS protocols. my question is if we followed these best practices, can we leverage Immutable snapshots and Datalock from Cohesity with Veeam Backup?  also I read this on Reddit:

A data center consists of groups of networking and computational infrastructure that process and store information for a business in a central location. To keep it secure, businesses must employ both virtual and physical systems designed to protect the data center. In addition to protecting the organization's computational assets, specific network security measures must be implemented to prevent malware attacks and other threats from penetrating the data center. Considering the above details  how Incident management is a series of steps taken to identify, analyze, and resolve critical incidents  to protect from Ransomware attacks what are steps taken veeam

What are the positives of choosing Veeam over IBM for Backup and Recovery.

Hi all, I need support to find the correct way to merge 2 VEEAM Server into one.We have VEEAM A and VEEAM B, both with their data domain. for now these two servers are separate and we want to merge A and B to have only A.In my head we have to:Configure the DD of the VEEAM B on VEEAM A and rescan it. Configure a backup job with the VMs of the VEEAM B on the VEEAM A and, during the configuration, map the backup.if we take these steps are we OK or I’m missing something?Thank you.

We’re currently running Veeam Backup & Recovery and Veeam ONE v11.We’d like to upgrade to v12, is there a specific order we should use to perform the upgrade?ie. Veeam ONE first or Veeam B&R first ???

I have a very unstable wireless connection on an endpoint that likes to go down during periods of high use, or just whenever it feels like it. Addressing the connection issue remains its own task, but for the time being, it seems like the Veeam Agent (Agent for Microsoft Windows 5.0.3.4708) is very intolerant to any sort of network issues. When the connection inevitably goes down, the backup process will be cancelled with the error:Error: write: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host Failed to backup file. I’ve looked through the backup settings, and I did see one section titled Backup Cache which apparently is supposed to cache the backup locally until Veeam can connect to the server. Despite having this option enabled, the Agent still throws its hands up at the first sign of network trouble.Hoping there is someone here who knows a magic trick to get the Agent to tolerate unstable connections, or can at least pass this along to the appropriate team. Thanks!

The workstation is in a Protection Group and Agent Version 5.0.3.4708 is installed. The workstation was added over the Active Directory and the AD shows Windows 10 Professional is installed.  I also logged into the workstation and yes indeed Windows 10 Professional is installed.  Windows 11 is blocked from installing in our Network using a GPO and the Workstation was not upgraded to Windows 11 and then reset back to Windows 10.Its been showing the warning since Tuesday.  Removing it from the Protection Group and re-adding it does not help.
