Solved

Need some clarification. On this scenario i have a windows server that run an app and i want to backup the whole server (in case we ever need to restore it i can just dump it on a vm) but i want to make this whole backup daily and immutable. For what i understand there is a set number of days for immutability but not sure how does this work for daily backups.  Whats the correct settings to do on this case?  Are these backups like whole backup every day or its incremental only? Thanks.

Hey,I have configured Linux Rocky 8.10 with kernel 4.18.0-533.16.1.e18_10.x86_64 to the Hardened Repo. However, I encountered an issue when trying to add this server to Veeam. The problem is with the Installer Service, and I receive either an exit code 1 or a timeout when connecting to Rocky via SSH. I have already turned off all firewalls and allowed all traffic. My question is whether version 8.10 is supported.I can connect to the repository via SSH using the command line from Veeam server. Veeam version 12.2.0.334 Here gave info that Rocky 8  is supported..https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/hardened_repository_limitations.html?ver=120

I asked this in the Veeam forums, I figure I ask here as well: I have Veeam B&R server1, with a SOBR repo, the capacity extend going to Azure. i have a Veeam B&R server 2, with a SOBR repo, with the capacity tier going to Wasabi. What is the best way of getting the backups going to Azure on Veeam server 1 to Wasabi on Veeam server 2? Goal is to eventually decommission server 1.I can recreate the backup and backup copy jobs on server 2, so then point forward, it will use Wasabi. But how will I get the existing historical backups in Azure on server 1 to Wasabi on Veeam server 2?

GuysI am migrating my VMs from an old cluster to a new one. NO problem so far - 7 out of 8 VMs moved. Veeam continues to back them up. Great stuff. The last one has a large VHDX drive - 4TbWhat will happen when the backup job tries to back that up whilst Hyper-V manager is moving the machine? With the old (1Gb) NICs in the source cluster this might take a while to copy (7h ish).Does the backup job just fail (becasue the machine won’t quiesce, or perhaps because there is already a snapshot created by the move process) or will it get stuck in some horrible sort of a loop and eat up all the storage on the cluster with checkpoint files?I ask because, back in the day (when I was new to Veeam), I did try to backup a machine that was the target of DFS-R and the results weren’t pretty. I realise this is a different scenario but I just want to be sure! B.

When creating the pve worker using a static IP, it fails saying i don’t have a valid DNS server, but it’s nowhere to be configured. Also, we use tagged vlans on the vmbrX interfaces, and it’s nowhere to be configured from veeam...

Hi,after backuping ubuntu ever since without problems, the first fresh installed ubuntu 22.04 came up with this warning message in our latest veeam b&r 11: Failed to index guest file system. mlocate was not found.   As since ubuntu 22.04 the package mlocate is just a transitional package to plocate, there is no mlocate binary. So I did a ln -s plocate mlocate  and expected the message to be gone - but it keeps reporting, that mlocate was not found. updatedb and locate do not show any errors:root@ubuntu2204:/var/log# updatedb -Vupdatedb (plocate) 1.1.15Copyright (C) 2007 Red Hat, Inc. All rights reserved. This software is distributed under the GPL v.2....root@ubuntu2204:/var/log# locate -Vplocate 1.1.15Copyright 2020 Steinar H. Gunderson...So whats to do now?

Good day team,Is there way to connect more than Veeam B&R server/software on different servers across both wan sites and/or locally? How can this be achieved? It is recommended that i install Veeam Enterprise Manager on the first server and/or site then start the  connecting. If so, is this free/does this require a license? Any other method?

Hello I recently installed k10 via helm by “helm install k10 kasten/k10 --namespace=kasten-io”as per documentation to access via load balancer I then upgraded:helm upgrade k10 kasten/k10 --namespace=kasten-io \ --reuse-values \ --set externalGateway.create=true \ --set auth.tokenAuth.enabled=true But still it just doesnt load gateway shows these logs 2024-09-11 09:05:09 diagd 3.9.1 [P38TThreadPoolExecutor-0_0] INFO: 92614743-2FC2-471D-8676-12B154066E1B: 127.0.0.1 "GET /metrics" 18ms 200 success2024-09-11 09:06:09 diagd 3.9.1 [P38TThreadPoolExecutor-0_0] INFO: CEFD4281-DBC4-4C05-8463-852F92557FB9: 127.0.0.1 "GET /metrics" 15ms 200 success2024-09-11 09:07:09 diagd 3.9.1 [P38TThreadPoolExecutor-0_0] INFO: 507BD583-608E-43E9-8AB7-FD9E4D708B87: 127.0.0.1 "GET /metrics" 17ms 200 success

Hi to all,I need to rename the Veeam Enterprise Server hostname that has already been joined to the AD domain. In the past, on version 11, with the change of ip and hostname I had several problems, do you know if they were fixed in the latest version?Thank youFederico

Hi alltogether,a customer of mine is planning a NetApp solution running NetApp Synchronous SnapMirror as DR / HA solution. I know it is offically not supported stated in the documentation. But is only the snapmirror to the secondary system and restore from second system not possible? Or is the backup from primary storage snapshot and snapshot creation possible within NetApp Synchronous Mirror? Thanks, Dennis

Hello,Can you add a feature to generate a pop-up on remote Veeam consoles to warn the user of an upcoming action on the server (update, reboot...)?Thanks in advance,

Hi Community.  I have an Azure storage account I am no longer using as a repository for VBAz policies.  I was going to delete the account until I noticed there are three containers named “veeamdeployer<random>”, and each container contains the same 3 files: veeamDeploymentdll.dll, veeamDeploymentSvc.exe, and veeamNetworkRedirector.exe.  Does anyone know if these containers and files are needed now that I’m well beyond deployment into Azure?  Thank you.

Hi, has anyone configured the Oracle plugin/RMAN file, so that one copy is made locally and then it is sent to the Veeam repository using the plugin? Is this possible or if I want to have a copy in two locations (local and Veeam) do I have to use, for example, the Linux Agent and copy the folder with the copy made by RMAN?

Hi,I have upgraded Veeam backup and Replication from V12.0 to V12.2.When I logon to console it ask me to upgrade Veeam VSS Hardware snapshot provider. If I try to upgreade it give me this error:Product: Veeam VSS Hardware Provider -- Minimum supported OS version for Veeam VSS Hardware Provider is Microsoft Server 2012 (64-bit only). How can I resolve this issue? thanksFabio

Good day everyone, Did some checks, seem as if for my HyperV Backups, reverse incremental is the only option recommended to save space. My management team dont plan to increase/purchase additional space anytime soon.I am seeing A LOT of VBK, VBM and VIB files,  i tell you, just incrementally taking up space. Over the weekend one fullbackup windows server agent job had like 4 vbk files (at various states/dates) with multiple vib backed over time (based on schedule not stipulated by me, but management). The local repo RAN out of space, 0 bytes free. This repo is like 7 TB, small i guess.Which is the best method you would recommend to save save space for both Hyper V and Windows Agent backups?

Hi Community -Yes..I ask questions too! 😉 I recently noticed a subset of my Backup Jobs performance going from hundreds of MB/s to just 5-10MB/s since last Fri. I updated my Veeam environment on Sun and initially thought it happened after that (I noticed yesterday a few jobs took 4-14hrs to run!), but after further investigation I found the perf drop started 1st thing Fri morning. I have 2 other subsets of Jobs which run fine. Each of the 3 “sets” of Jobs use different Proxies and Repositories. So this whole subset which use a certain physical Linux Proxy and physical Linux Repo has this performance issue. Another subset which uses a different set of physical Proxy and Repo boxes are fine. And the last subset of Jobs which use hotadd are fine. So I’ve obviously narrowed down the issue is either the physical Proxy or Repo on this subset. The Job stats went from bottleneck of Source in the 90% range to Target in the high 90% range. I’ve checked my Proxy frontward and backward. All confi

We plan to do daily backups to a tape (which can be added but not deleted) for 7 days. I am confused on the following options in Veeam. Which one to use . I have  gone through the user guide, but need a simple advise on the usage scenarios. Please adviseWORM Tape protection Retention period

HelloA customer configured his Wasabi bucket with immuability set on Wasabi side. I know is not the recommendation in term of configuration normaly I set versionning and objectlock on the bucket only and the immuability is set in the repository Veeam. The problem is the consumption continues to grow on the bucket. In Veeam the number of restore points are correct but I have a lot of error in the SOBR task like: Not good!A lifecycle policies has been set, but I never used this kind of rule so I m not sure of the result especialy with Veeam. In Veeam in the repository we have this warning: The rules is in place but…. the delete is not working Have you already handle this kind of configuration ?

I’m noticing that memory usage spikes to 95% every 15 minutes before dropping back down. Upon reviewing the history, it seems that the Configuration Database Resynchronize is performing a scan during these spikes. Is there a specific reason why the database synchronization needs to happen every 15 minutes, even in the absence of active backups? Is there a way to reduce the frequency of this synchronization?

We want to switch to Veeam from Arcserve to see if it is better for DR scenario.  Arcserve is good product and does everything what we needed until we switched to SDWAN solution. We used to have primary backup console at production site and remote replication server at DR site. When switched to SDWAN primary server can not replicate backup to remote server (even though nothing blocked). So we have to moved replication server to the production site leaving backup repository at DR site. As a alternate solution, I copy replication server’s C: drive to DR site. If we have replication server at DR site, I can create virtual standby of VM to DR site every night. So in case of disaster this will reduce restore time. We also want to test DR solution every six month.I want to know does Veeam provide similar or better functionality in term of restore VM on DR site without relying on production VBR server? Thanks
