Hallo communityIch möchte eine externe Festplatte, die ich eine zeitlang als Veeam Recovery Medium benutzt habe wieder clean formatieren. Die Daten habe ich grundsätzlich gelöscht. Trotzdem ist da noch ein Rest Veeam drauf. Wenn ich Festplatte am PC anschliesse, zeigt der Explorer zwei Laufwerke an:VEEAMRE (D:) und Lokaler Datenträger (E:) Hat mir jemand eine Idee, wie ich die Festplatte ganz clean bringe?Benötige ich dazu eventuell einen speziellen Schlüssel? Ich habe noch einen Ordner gespeichert mit der Bezeichnung: VeeamRecoveryMedium (mit Unterordnern boot, efi, sources ...) Ich meine mich zu erinnern, dass das so eine Art Schlüsseldatei war. Bin mir aber nicht mehr sicher.Danke für Unterstützung🤗

Hola. tengo una consuilta!!Tengo un job donde realizo bkp al cluster completo de la Infra Vmware, estoy usando Veeam 11, y vi que no tiene tildada la opción Enable inline data deduplication (recomendada), esta opción debe estar activada?, es necesaria? Aunque veo veo que los bkp finales si se hace la deduplicación y compresión.  Vi que en el Veeam 12 que estoy probando, lo activa por default. o veo que en la versión 12 la activada por defecto.Gracias 

Hi all.. I’m still getting my feet wet with Veeam.. I had Veeam 11 installed and was playing around with it but wanted to start over due to reconfiguration of the server, adding more storage and whatnot.. Long story short, I uninstalled Veeam 11 and eventually installed v12 after eliminating the old config..I’ve got the tape that I was using to test incremental backups and would like to use with the new setup but it refuses to write to it as it’s marked, I’m sure, by the old Veeam config.What is the best way to mark the tape as “fresh” so it’ll be able to write to the tape again?  Right now Veeam is just sitting here telling me to insert a tape regardless of the fact that a tape is loaded.. TIA!

We’ve been running VBR on a 2012 R2 server for a long time but it’s time to get off of 2012.Is there a reason to keep running Veeam on a server? We’ve grown over the years and I have started putting VBR on Windows 10 workstations for remote offices and that has worked well.Do we need need to keep VBR on a server or is it save to migrate this over to a workstation?Interested in hearing why?Thanks!

I was able to install the Windows Agent to a Win10 desktop.  Looks like Veeam backed up the files to the share folder I used for the job. I am trying to now restore this backup to a Hyper-V host. When I go into Restore using the Veeam Backup and Rep app, I don’t see a way to choose the machine or  Agent backup? Any tips or suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks

Hi folks,My wanderings in the wonderful continue. I need to move an M365 repo from a REFS drive (as far as I know this is not good, NTFS is the best practice) to a new drive. I have read on the forums that the Move-VBOEntityData powershell is NOT the way to go. Instead this is the procedure: 1. Disable all backup jobs related to the repository you want to move.2. Stop all the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 services before moving any data.3. Copy the backup repository data to the backup repository location on the new repository location (using robocopy for example).4. Start the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 services.5. Add the new repository with the moved data.6. Open backup job settings and specify to use the new repository Any comments or advice from folks who have been through this. I would like to avoid any pain since I had a wisdom tooth pulled this week and have enough already :)  cheers

Please, for testing and lab purposes, we need to deploy 02 x local K8s clusters using OKD (Origin Kubernetes Distribution) - the community distribution of OpenShift - and perform integration with Kasten. Later, we can migrate to the OpenShift production environment. Has any community member completed this deployment and integration (OKD +K10)? If so, could you share some guidelines/recommendations? Hi Guys, lot of my customer has Veeam as virtual machine in VMware and using the virutal disk as repostitory (.vdmk), in my opinion - its old concept. One of my customer has new Storage Array and Physical backup server. The storage is direct connected to backup server via 10 GbE iSCSI.  Is there some steps how to migrate virtual veeam (also with backup repository) to brand new physical HW ?  Thx.Tomas

Hello to all,I would need advices from you guys on how to approach to this setup the best way possible.We have two locations. Both locations have 64TB Synology NAS and also on one side we have one additional NAS for air-gapped solutoin. Now we would like to implement cloud storage and want to ask you guys what would be the best solution in configuration of this scenario.Scale-out repository or similar.At the moment we are doing backups on the one location (Vienna, Austria) and doing Backup Copy Jobs via WAN Acceleration to other location (Novi Sad, Serbia)Would like to configure it to best practices and in the most secured way possible. 

I have got two clusters added in multi-cluster dashboard, while I try to add 3rd cluster (present in Azure) it failed with message "Could not get Kasten namespace in cluster"

I can see this being a good idea from the separate and conquer point of view (or deal with less hassle if one of the metadata files gets corrupted, so if you only have one, it is much less fun) but are there any other reasons for the move?

Morning All Just moving over from Hornet / Altaro to Veeam 12 Community Edition. Set up is in Production have 3 Hosts with 9 VM’s between them. Mainly Server 2016 but one Linux and one Server 2022.All backup every 12 hours onsite and then Backup copy offsite.Offsite copy is onto a different VM Host with enough oomph and memory / storage to run whole lot in an emergency although PAINFULLY Slowly.Anyhow have done a test restore and all Server 2016’s and Linux come up fine (Need a couple of re-boots to recognise new Network etc to talk properly to each other. Server 2022 comes up will not boot due to the Key Protector could not be unwrapped as obviously a different host with different TPM Etc.If I kill the VM but keep the Virtual HDDs and create a new Virtual machine with same settings it all works but is there any way round this?

I know it’s late on a Friday, but I wanted to get this out of my head and off my mind before I forgot.  For our internal backup infrastructure, I’m the proud owner of a new Dell PowerEdge R550 with lots of space on local disk.  It’s going to replace a Synology RackStation that is slowly dying and is several years old.  The new server also has dual 25Gb connectivity (and dual 1Gb connectivity) that will allow me direct ISCSI access to our PowerStore 500T array.  This server will be the primary backup repository for our primary site. I am aware that if set this server up as a VHR/LHR, I cannot utilize direct storage access because functions required as a proxy server are not available when the server is hardened.  If I choose to forgo the direct storage access capabilities as a proxy server and move forward with a LHR, are there any caveats of using a LHR as your primary repo?  I don’t really NEED direct storage access.  There’s not that much data to backup every day, and I can still use

Nel senso che, in contesti molti grossi (scusate il tecnicismo 😉), dove ci sono tante VM e soprattutto tantissimi Job forse sarebbe meglio avere più di una istanza di VBR… oppure no? This is the question.In un contesto dove sto lavorando, c’è un VBR che impiega 45 minuti a fare un backup della configurazione, producendo un file da oltre 2 GByte. Sarebbe una buona idea “segmentarlo”? Che ne pensate? Grazie in anticipo.P.S.: naturalmente in un contesto frazionato diventa più importante avere l’Enterprise Manager (spesso trascurato) e ONE ben configurati per meglio tenere sotto controllo il tutto.
