Hello Veeam community 🖐🏻I have a question regarding Backup Job Encryption and Backup Copy Job Encryption.What is the general advices on this.I have different encryption passwords for each Backup Job.The question is here, do I need to enable encryption for Backup Copy Job or it will use the original encryption that we already have configured on regular Backup Job’s.
Hello Veeam community,Is there any best practices when implementing these two into work?Currently we have it setup as a SMB share folders and Veeam is sending backups to it.I did a little bit of research and saw that people are using ISCSI and connecting Synology drive to Windows Server and using it like that. As I can see they are using ReFS File System.What would be the best optimization when we have Veeam + Synology in our Environment.Veeam B&R and our main Synology are located in the same location within same subnet.After that main Backup is done we have a Backup Copy Job trough IPSec to our Branch Office where we also have Synology NAS with SMB share.With ISCSI I saw that people are using FastClone and I’m not familiar with it at all. What is the use of it?Any advices are welcomed 😀

Hi all. I am quite new to Veeam. I was trying to set my laptop up to be backed up daily and at one point I selected VM as an option. I did eventually get it set up as an Agent Backup, but now I get these emails below every day and I can’t find anywhere to delete or remove anything so I quit getting this message. Hi All,Apologies if I am asking in the wrong place, but using VBR V11 Community edition.I want to simulate a DR event. I have taken a Windows Agent → Entire computer full backup to a USB Drive.Now i want to restore just some files from this USB Backup to a new server ( where the same edition VBR is installed.From the USB Drive on the new server , double clicking on the .VBK file launches Veeam, but my concern is the following window just shows “Restore”. I Don’t want to overwrite the entire server from this backup? Does “Restore” actually start overwriting files, or does this proceed to show more options ( and would be better named “Next”, rather than “Restore” ) ??Many thanks in advance.

We’ve been running VBR on a 2012 R2 server for a long time but it’s time to get off of 2012.Is there a reason to keep running Veeam on a server? We’ve grown over the years and I have started putting VBR on Windows 10 workstations for remote offices and that has worked well.Do we need need to keep VBR on a server or is it save to migrate this over to a workstation?Interested in hearing why?Thanks!
I was able to install the Windows Agent to a Win10 desktop. Looks like Veeam backed up the files to the share folder I used for the job. I am trying to now restore this backup to a Hyper-V host. When I go into Restore using the Veeam Backup and Rep app, I don’t see a way to choose the machine or Agent backup? Any tips or suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks

Hello all,I am looking for a "simple" way to generate a notification when a backup or copy job is edited in VBR. The idea at the beginning is just to get an info (mail), not to rate the modification, if it’s a good or bad modification. Examples of bad changes would be reducing retention, changing encryption password, etc.Ideas how to realize this? Native in VBR i think there is nothing, Veeam One? External monitoring? Hello!I am trying to play with restoring one Hyper-V VM onto another Hyper-V server just to know what to expect in the future.So I created the Backup job which backed up this VM to the Backup repository which in turn resides in the shared folder of the second Hyper-V physical machine, i.e. is the part of the second server.After back up is done (very fast!) I started Restore job of the Entire VM, and it fails. I tried all possible scenarios : restore entire VM, immediate restore with the following migration, I tried even importing this backup and restoring VM from imported file - ALL FAILED with the same symptoms: restoration starts very optimistically and energetically, going to the point of 45-46 GB of vhdx restoration, stops, nothing seems to be happening, only process timer shows it is still alive and ticking, and this frozen state continues for 5 to 8 hours just to get this ChannelError: ConnectionReset. I am new to Veeam and would like to restore the backup to a new location. The wizard takes me through steps to restore. In the datastore menu does it automatically create the VM with the new name. This is production server just need to know more before proceeding. Is this the only wizard for restore or after completing this wizard there will be another wizard to be completed. Is the live server online when the server is restored?
Hi everyone, I have problem with one of my servers who have MSQL and when the backup is finished i have this warning message “ Unable to truncate Microsoft SQL Server transaction logs. Details: Failed to process 'TruncateSQLLog' command. Failed to truncate SQL server transaction logs for instances: . See guest helper log.” I have search in official support and only find that the veeam account for backup must be MSQL administrator on that database, and to be local admin on that machine. I have make him database admin, but still i have this warning, and the hdd on that machine will be full soon. We have V11 Enterprise with support and so on, but because we are Public Enterprise we have bought this product from one Company in our Town. Can somebody give me some solution instruction step by step ?
I’m new to Veeam and I really like how easy it is to create scheduled backups and to retrieve individual files.Does anyone know what kind of compression Veeam uses when they create either increment or full backups? Thanks, Steve
