Hello Community,I am facing the following problem.We are using an archiving (HSM) solution where the archiving application uses the NetApp Fpolicy Engine for mirgation. After migrating files off a NetApp smb share to s3 storage, the NetApp fpolicy engine leaves a stub at the original location. This "stub" is used to recall the file back to the original location when it is accessed. These stubs cause problems when backing up through veeam. During Nas backup (Share and using the NetApp storage integration) the stubs are not backed up, it causes a recall from the archive. (This is not what you want). On a Windows Fileserver veeam handles these stubs well. These stubs are called NTFS Reparse points. The stub file has the L (Reparse) and O (Offline) attribute set. When doing a Windows Fileserver backup these reparse points are, by default, skipped. No setting needed. This is the correct way to handle stubs. Hello, we added file-indexing on our ubuntu 24.04 lts-servers today and started the backup of each workload.Veeam detects all files with extension .sophos and .lynx as malware.The files with extensions .sophos are 100% clean, these is our sophos endpoint detection for linux.The lynx-files looks also normal and not like malware. Can we exclude thee files for each workload? I only see the option to exclude a complete workload. Detected files:/opt/sophos-spl/.sophos/usr/share/doc-base/lynx-common.lynx/usr/share/doc/w3m/keymap.lynx/usr/share/doc/w3m/ja/keymap.lynx/usr/share/doc/w3m/ja/examples/keymap.lynx/usr/share/doc/w3m/examples/keymap.lynx/usr/share/wazuh-dashboard/plugins/wazuh/node_modules/brfs/test/

Dear community, Does anyone have an idea if I can force a threat hunter signature update? I do have 2 different cases: Lab case (NFR license!)I do have a lab with a NFR license activated and my SureBackup fails on a regular base with the error message, that the Threat Hunter signature update is not possible.I already reviewed the firewall rules and updates a rule set for v12.3 so that every requirement should be done. Customer case (prod license)The SureBackup (antivirus) fails with the error message that there is no signature database available. wr already reviewed the FW rules and don’t see issues. Can I force the signature update manually somehow? If nobody has input on this I will of course open a support ticket! Thanks in advance!Lukas

Hello,We have a Backup Copy on S3 containing multiple backup jobs, and we have noticed that VMs removed from the jobs are not being deleted from the S3 repository, even after exceeding the defined retention period. Full and incremental backup images are still being retained.I would like to understand how retention works in this scenario. Does the fact that the backup chain is incomplete prevent the deletion of old restore points?What are the best practices to ensure the automatic expiration of obsolete backups?Thank you in advance for your help.Best regards,

Hi All, I have this weird error happening on my Veeam server.“Host is unreachable. Unable to install backup agent: cannot connect to 192.168.0.100 Error: The parameter is incorrect.”The weird thing is, I’ve checked through all nodes of my Veeam installation and can’t find anything erroring or relating to this error (see pic).In the ‘Name’ section below, those IP addresses do not relate to anything on the LAN, they aren’t even the same subnet. I have no idea where they are coming from.

Our Veeam Backup and Enterprise Manager were both hosted on the same server, but I've now relocated the Enterprise Manager to a different server. Should I keep the guest catalog folder (VBRCatalog) on the old server?I know VBRCatalog uses Backup server and it replicates to EM ( if it is, any additional steps required ). Please advise   

ciao a tutti, chiedevo se qualcuno che ha già avuto a che fare con VRO si è azzardato a “mescolare” server Veeam e EM con Postgres e un VRO su MsSQL.Purtroppo VRO include ONE che ancora va solo con MsSQL, quindi VRO funziona con MsSQL e come sappiamo non si può mettere una istanza Veeam sotto un Enterprise Manager se hanno i motori DB diversi.In altre situazioni in cui ho un server Veeam che gestiste la parte replica ed eventuali Failover entrambi sono sotto lo stesso EM che gestisce la questione licenze, e parlando con qualcuno di Veeam a Milano mi è stato confermato essere la cosa giusta da fare.Quindi penso che la cosa “canonica” sarebbe installare tutto sotto MsSQL se si prevede l’uso di VRO….

ciao, è capitato a un cliente che seguo di trovarsi il filesystem XFS corrotto. Si è aggiustato con un semplice comando di repair ma ci sono rimasti un po’ male, diciamo.Anche perché la macchina è un HPE Apollo, nuova, configurata ad hoc da specialisti del vendor quindi si possono escludere errori banali di configurazione, e l’hw è buono (certo anche nuovo può avere problemi però non è un accrocchio sottodimensionato)Qualcuno ha esperienze analoghe? Spero di no per voi 😉(per i veeamers all’ascolto: Case #07187346)

We have a VMware backup tag which contains 16 servers, is there a way to configure the order in which they are backed up?

I would like to verify the data in my backup copy job from my Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 however I cannot find a place where I can select restoring from the copy job instead of the backup job itself. Is it possible to select the data to be restore from the Backup Copy Job?

Hi all,I would like to use Quantum DXi V5000 as deduplication storage appliance  Unfortunately, when adding deduplication storage appliance, there is an error message, that there is no Veeam Data Mover service enabled on the virtual storage appliance To enable Veeam Data Mover service I need to install Veeam Data Mover on the appliance…. The issue is that I do not know default root password for Quantum DXi V5000 and adding non-root user to sudoers file didnt help.Is there any option to manually install Veeam Data Mover on linux based machine?

I have one Windows physical endpoint which has the Veeam agent installed, and a backup is taken to the BackipRepository1 every few hours. I also need to take a backup of that machine once a week (midnight on Saturday) and retain 52 copies, but those backups need to go to BackupRepository2.I have tried to create the second job but get the following message.Skipping WINWORK0256548; workstation is already assigned to the backup policy Workstation1 Nothing to process. Failed to apply backup job configuration at date and timeIs there a way for me to have two different backup jobs for a single endpoint like this, please?

ciao a tutti, stamattina mi sono imbattuto in questo post su linkedinAl di là di come sia andata a finire, a me ha sempre spaventato il rischio di sbagliare qualcosa nel programmare i backup che vanno su un cloud dove si pagano (anche) le operazioni e far arrivare un conto salatissimo. E per questo suggerisco sempre di usare servizi che si pagano “flat” in base allo spazio.Qualcuno ha avuto “brutte esperienze” in merito? Cosa ne pensate?  

Missing application permissions: Exchange.ManageAsApp. Public folder and discovery search mailboxes will be skipped from processing, and a shared mailbox type will not be identified.I have a fully licensed version of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 (not the community edition) which I recently upgradded to version 8.1.  Since then I’m getting this message.  I tried to put in a support ticket but that doesn’t work so I thought I’d try here.I have already followed the instructions on https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo365/guide/ad_app_permissions_sd.html?ver=80 where I assigned Global Reader to the Veeam App ID but I still get the error message.Useful suggestions gratefully received.

I am trying this one more time and have had this work in the past but just wasted hours on a restore that would not boot. I have a replacement laptop a little newer and I installed veeam on the new laptop and created the usb drive. I then booted the usb and went into bare metal selected, connected to my veeam backup and recovery and selected the restore point, removed the partitions and did the restore. The restore said it completed successfully but would not boot even with secure boot off. Tried start up repair and unable to repair. I selected command prompt and I could see all of the files were there and tried some bcdrec stuff but nothing worked. I can restore a clean image and then restore my files that way but the bare metal recovery is supposed to work and obviously it is not in my case. Currently running endpoint backup version 6.2. Trying again but pretty sure it will give me the same result.

I am confused (not an unusual occurrence). I had to do a restore of a VM to a different backup repository from tape, so I could search for some files for a user. Now, I don’t need that restored image. (this repository is a Windows disk drive, and the restored image is 4TB in size). So I’d like that 4TB disk space back, please. :-)Is there a special procedure for cleaning that off the repository? Or do I just delete it from Windows, like any other set of files?  

Hello everybody!I would like to test performance on Linux repositories.The idea is to test read/write performance on disk, IOPS or something like that. I found the KB2014, but I would like to know if some of you have already do this before or if you have some tip or indication for this.  

Hi,We currently do a full backup weekly that is then updated with incramental backups daily that are retained for 7 days.I am concerned about malware going undetected (we have AV, I’m just paranoid). Is a 7 day retention policy for restore points good or should I expand this? What archival rules would help would be recommended?Many thanks in advance,Tobi

Hello community,i have a customer doing NAS Backups from NetApp Shares to a hardened disk repository and then writing those NAS Backups to Tape.We are using a PostGres DB as the Configuration Database. Its running on a NVMe Device. We found out that the DB is growing continously over the last 4 month. Starting around 40GB it reached around 650 GB in size until now.Opening the VEEAM Console to access the VEEAM Management server takes very long and other processes also affected. We did some root cause analysis and found out that the hardware of the server is not overprovisioned or constrained.Are there any options to do a maintenance on the DB and/or restrict the DB in growing continously ? Or maybe doing some other tasks to adress those issues ? 

Good morning,Looking for advice on managing storage within an integrated vCenter/Veeam configuration where my backups at backing onto an external storage device. I’m not going to lie I am still timid working in these environments because I have never been to play around in a non production environment so I think it best to get some advice form those of you who are well versed in these products. So the situation is over the years we have created various jobs when issues occurred during backups and now I am wanting to understand the proper way to delete old backups in order to give the NAS some breathing room.  I didn't want to just login to the NAS and literally delete files as I’m pretty certain the VMWare/Veeam setup is aware of all files and folders and don’t want to break the linking.What is the proper way to clean up old backups and have the system correctly identify space and removed items etc. Thank you.
