The veeamma looks at the /etc/os_release file and if it doesn't match with one of 3 debian based Linux distros they it won't install, even if it's still running the save versions of apt and etc... what's the logic behind that design choice?

Welcome to the Community! I think your best bet is to ping the Veeam Product Managers over on the Forums to see what their reasons were.
