The weather in Ontario has just started to consistently stay above freezing temperatures, even some days spiking up to 18 degrees (64F for my American counterparts). This has me thinking about one thing only; getting back on my motorcycle as soon as possible and enjoying the open road. However, as a new rider as of last year, I have prioritized safety and learning from others experiences. I do this by watching a Youtube Channel called "DanDanTheFireman". On this channel, Dan promotes motorcycle safety by reviewing footage of motorcycle incidents and providing after-action analysis of what went wrong, and would go have been done better. One of the methods/concepts that Dan teaches is called "MTC (Motorcycle Training Concepts) Awareness Stages". These 5 stages refer to the frame of mind a rider may be in at any given point in their ride. I am trying to clean up my Veeam Backup environment. Since they launched the Malware detection many of my backup sets are marked as containing files that Veeam thinks are malware. Most file extensions are not and some are files that have been created from our internal Applications Development team. I am either deleting non-relevant files or adding the extension to the Trusted Objects list. One extension that Veeam marked as Malware is *.kill . It found 2 files on our file server with this extension. Confusingly, I have not been able to find these files when I search the file server. Can anyone point me to an application or process that could locate these files?
I have a backup copy job for OneDrive that has been running for over 60 hrs. and I am attempting to stop the job. I stopped it in the GUI however the job still shows running with a status of “Queued” and the details show “Operation pending”. The job status has not changed for 30-60 minutes. I have also attempted to stop the copy job with the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Powershell Toolkit but I am running into syntax errors.

Since iteration is a good way to improve things, I’ve taken a shot at it and updated the script with a new feature. This feature uses Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) re-IP functionality for replication jobs and CDP policies to keep re-IP network information. It transforms VBR into the IP Address Management (IPAM) for VRO scripts. How does it work? We need two scripts configured as custom steps in VRO. The first script (GetReIpRules.ps1) is new. It takes as input the currently processed VM name and connects to VBR to search for the re-IP rule. It actually searches for a replication job or CDP policy to which the processed VM is associated with. Once it finds it, it looks for the re-IP rule and exports the content to a JSON file. Does the Veeam Media Creation tool depend on the host OS when creating the bootable ISO or does the Veeam Media Creation tool contain everything it needs? None of the ISO’s that are created on Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2 PC’s can connect to the Veeam backup server to perform a Bare Metal Recovery but they can ping the server’s name and IP when using Tools → Command Prompt . Hello, I am currently in a battle with VBV - Veeam Backup Validator As has been my experience, the health check of an agent backup job is done by the machine running agent.That, for some reason, the VBR itself cannot perform this function; even though the agent is managed by the VBR and the VBR has full access to the backup repositories. As I run my veeam over tailscale, when my laptop is outside the home LAN, the health check takes many time longer than the backup job itself. So I am try to come up with a workaround. using VBV, to offload the health check to a machine inside the LAN. So far, very frustrating, I cannot seem to use /backup flag on a backup job that does not contain a VM.I did tried to set /vmname to the name of machine running agent, but never worked.Is that correct? Hello. I have a Kasten K10 deployment for which two pods are periodically restarting (controllermanager-svc and dashboardbff-svc). For these two pods, I can see that kubelet is complaining about readiness and liveness probe, like: kubelet: Readiness probe failed: Get “http://10.44.0.213:8000/v0/healthz”: contect deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers) Anything to look at to fix this? This warning occurs when a time shift is detected in the Hardened Repository regardless of the deployment type used. In this article, the focus is on “VHR ISO”. This is a safeguard against immutability manipulation that can also be triggered by intentional time changes etc. But in my case, it was as a result of extended shutdown. As you can see below, the backup job completed with warning(s). Did a little troubleshooting and found the root cause. Please, see the error message for more information ‘A problem occurred during setting the immutable flag: repository time shift detected, immutability flag cannot be set. Please refer to KB4482 for more details.” If you are using the Veeam Hardened Repository ISO, this solution is very easy to implement. All you need to do is connect to the VHR and in the in the Configurator Main Menu, use the Reset time lock option as shown below. We have Kasten10 Operator installed on top our OpenShift.We have 5 worker nodes, so we should have been licensed: "Veeam Kasten has two free editions: a five-node version (no time limit) and the Enterprise Trial version, which provides up to 500 nodes for one month. Both are fully featured. Hello, As of this morning one of my Veeam consoles is having jobs with Guest Processing enabled fail. Veeam Version 12.3.1.1139 Failed Connecting to guest OS via RPC Error: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {Removed} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)). Steps I’ve tried: Rebooted server with Veeam Console installed. Rebooted source VM whose replication & backup jobs have guest processing enabled. Confirmed that the credentials in use are still accurate by signing directly into the VM using them. Verified neither Veeam console nor VM being backed up had Windows updates installed last night or this morning. Tested guest processing using a different domain admin account to rule out profile corruption. Ping from Veeam device to VM works with no dropped packets. Verified it was possible to browse from the Veeam console server to the VMs Admin$ share with the original domain admin
When trying to add VBR to Veeam ONE and you run into the following error “failed to connect to VBR: Veeam ONE supports Veeam Backup and Replication and Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager version 10 Update 1 and later” Then, while tryin to perform this upgrade, you run into the following “Setup has detected inconsistent configuration: some Veeam ONE components are missing. Remove the installed Veeam ONE components manually and start the setup wizard again”. I thought I’d highlight a new tool that’s been developed by Veeam to help with vCentre migrations. It’s part of a toolset that I hadn’t come across before, so thought it worth sharing. One of the US VUG’s have also been chatting about it - I’m hoping Fabian will expand the utility to allow us to reset the Veeam MoRef ID for a server in the current vCentre. This can get changed when doing operations like restores and clones. Hi, I am setting up a Linux Hardened Repository for our backups and have followed @HannesK ‘s very good instructional videos found here: https://www.veeam.com/blog/rocky-linux-veeam.html I got everything done on the setup of the Rocky Linux machine, however I cannot get it added into Veeam Backup an Replication Console. It gets stuck on this part It is exactly the same error as this forum post however, I am not being successful What I have tried so far: I have disabled the firewall on the Rocky Linux machine: Same error I have added the user to the Wheel Group to give it Sudo permissions: Same error I have as suggested in that link chose the less secure linux and not one-time password option… which then gives me the error same as this. https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/problem-setting-up-linux-repository-t75144.html The setup is Veeam Version 11 latest build P20240304 Rocky Linux 9.5 I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me to try.

Hey Folks, Perhaps this is a feature request or maybe people have their own way of doing this. It sometimes happens that I am doing a post and get distracted or have to leave it. Then for whatever reason I lose the post (dumb laptop shutdown but not only). So first of all to the Community Managers, is there any chance we can get a save draft functionality here? If not what do other people here do? Or do you simply sit down right the post and click create? Copying and pasting from word does not work well and I am assuming creating in .md format to paste in would be best. In that case what markdown editor do you use?
I am currently in the process of migrating several hundred TB of data (millions of files), and while it’s taking a long time due to the file count, I have noticed duplicate data and a very unorganized structure. This is causing me issues, requiring manual verification, and I have also encountered incorrect permissions. Here are a few tips when archiving your data for the long term to avoid these issues. 1) Implement Proper Naming Conventions Consistent and meaningful naming conventions are essential for long-term data retrieval. Five, ten, or even twenty years from now, poorly named archives will create challenges. Establish, maintain, and adapt a structured naming system to prevent data from becoming unusable due to disorganization. 2) Use Compression to Optimize Storage and Performance Uploading and managing millions of small files can be inefficient, expensive, and time-consuming. I don't get it.I have backup and replication Enterprise.I backup my VMware servers to a local storage and then I want to backup copy them to Azure storage blob (Hot). All I can see in backup and replication is the option to connect to an exsisting backup in Azure.If I try to create a new storage with folders, Veeam cannot see the folder.I read somwhere that I must deplot an enterprise app in Azure to create this folder.Is this really true?Can someone please give me some direction?
Hi Everyone, Kubernetes is built on containers and to try something new I decided to setup a security playground leveraging two different container environments. IMPORTANT! Only run these tests and tools on your own test environments. If you run them anywhere else you must get permission for testing purposes. Security software will detect attacks and can get you in trouble so learn at home in the privacy of your own testing environment! Today will will setup a test vulnerable application called juice-shop from Owasp in a podman container. We will then setup in Proxmox a LXC Kali Linux container which going forward we will use to test the application juice-shop for vulnerabilities. Kali Linux is a fantastic security distribution that can be used to test and probe all sort of IT components. Today we will have some fun with the juice-shop but going forward you just know that we will attack a Kubernetes cluster! My inhouse system & handful of remaining customers all have almost identical configurations. They all have Community v12.0 but all will likely go to Foundation. Each has: Production Host Hyper-V Server MS Server 2019 Replication Target Hyper-V Host MS Server 2019 Win10 Backup Server with Veeam Console Ubuntu Immutable Storage unit. Since the Win10 unit is also my local Admin unit it is on the domain. Several of the Production Servers are also on the Domain before I received the info. Problems encountered: When I setup the last Replication Target, I took the previous Production Host and removed it from the domain. It lost all knowledge of Hyper-V and existing VMs. No problem on that as I just resetup from scratch. Don’t want to do that with a Production Host if possible. I’m sure removing the Win10 Backup Server/Console/Admin unit from Domain will make a mess. I don’t mind resetup as I’m going to install Foundation v12.3 but wonder what I should do on existing machines. Remove Hosts fro
