external repo query

Hey guys,I read in veeam helpcenter document that for external repository the backups are created by veeam backup appliance of cloud. Can't the backups in the repository be of another backup software that is not of veeam?

Red Hat Virtualization - Patch 1a released

Does anyone use RHV? I have started to play with it a bit in my home lab including using Veeam 11a for with the RHV plugin to back things up. It is quite interesting to say the least and nice to get exposure to another virtualization system.Today I see that patch 1a has been released for RHV so it is time to update the lab and continue testing. Evacuate Object Lock immutalbe extent

Hi,Whats the best practise evacuate an extent with immutalbe backups?I need to evacuate an extent from an object lock repo with 7 days immutalbe backups.I put the extent in maintenance and started the evacuation. What happens with die immutalbe backups? They will stay on the locked repo?

Issue: Error "Unable to connect to the Veeam backup infrastructure. Please contact service provider"

Hi,We have published VBR plugin to a tenant in VMWare vCloud director for VBR v12. It was successfully published, roles and self service configured. However, when i log into customer tenant from vCloud director and goto veeam protection under more. it pops up Error "Unable to connect to the Veeam backup infrastructure. Happy Friday everyone! Anyone that’s worked with Kubernetes for some time has probably seen or used aliases for common commands. For those that don’t know what an alias is in this context, it’s creating your own shorter command that executes another binary. For example, typing k to run kubectl. I was on Twitter the other day and saw Mick Douglas commenting on the state of the Microsoft Graph API, which by itself is a good read: As I got further in I saw an incredibly funny alias he’d said that he’d created to circumvent his frustration:And I just thought it was brilliant! Especially when you see it in action: That’s my story for the day! Anyone else got any aliases (funny or otherwise) that have made their lives easier/more bearable?

Can a non-domain joined VBR server use a gMSA?

Can non-domain joined VBR v12 servers use a gMSA?All of our Veeam servers are off our domain, but can communicate with AD, and I'm exploring if I can use gMSA instead of a service account.I've read the KB on gMSA for Veeam, but it's written in a way that tends me to believe its for domain joined VBRs servers. A few articles online show that non-domain joined containers can run gMSA, but doesn't read as if non-domain joined servers can do that or not.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/using_gmsa.html?ver=120

Swap repository for Backup and BackupCopy jobs ?

HelloI’m trying to find a solution to a hypothetic scenario: tl;dr is it possible to change/swap the target repository of a Backup Job by the repository of the BackupCopy Job I have 2 datacenter, 1 VBR server, and 2 repository on each site, one for backup job target, and the other one for BackupCopy job targetevery job have a copy job associated with it, and there are a few dozens of jobs running every dayI want to plan the failure of the repository system and being able to continue to do backups, in the case where the issue is hardware or would need multiple days to repair I have no problem with restoring from the copy jobs, all the data is there as intended, but how to restart the service of “backups” during this failure?so is it possible to tell VBR to use the the existing backup copy chains to use as an existing repository (I can’t seem to be able to remap)or is that impossible and I would need a new repository, and so startiing new backup chain ?

connection errors to a Veeam proxy at remote location

We have a location in the US where our VBR server in DE seem to have some connection issues sometimes. Latency and packet loss I see in smokeping is not that high, even better than for most of our other remote locations. Still we see errors like below in out backup and offload jobs for 2-3 VMs out of 35 on a daily base. The IP is the local proxy there. Processing xxxx Error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 172.31.132.113:2508 First job retry is successful most of the time. Anyhow, I’d like to get rid of those errors. Support suggested to change following regkeys to adjust.ConnectByIPsTimeoutSecAgentStartTimeoutSec But this did not change anything. I think we need settings for retries not timeouts. Any other ideas? Network team already checked everything and did not find anything. As I wrote, monitoring graphs also do not look too bad.

Hello All,I have a case i’m working on it customer has DC in cloud provider site and needs to move it to new DC he can’t make backup throw WAN because of traffic costs so we offers to get storage and put it in the cloud provider site and create second copy to it then move the storage to the new place and create replica seeding and make planned failover and commit the failover any suggestion recommendation?

Hi, Has any one had the below error on the new CDP Proxy function on B&R v11?Source Proxy Replicator error: encryption; Cannot decrypt message, possible due mismatching key.I can see that the disk are replicating, but now and then it shows the error? Note this is a new CDP job

Garbage Files in Veeam and Cisco UCS

I ran a report in Veeam and found out that there were several garbage files in Veeam. But, we have CISCO UCS sentinal snapshots. Do you think that what Veeam shows in Garbage files could include the Sentinel Snapshots also? As, we do not want to delete the Sentinel snapshots in UCS which might be appearing as Garbage files in Veeam. Anyone could explain more about this Garbage file and which one we should delete.
