Veeam Agent for Windows Free software update download says digital signature is invalid

Cannot auto-update from 5.0.3.4708 because the digital signature of the downloaded update file is invalid!This is happening on three personal computers at two different locations.I had to download the update from the website and manually update.Not a big deal but what is up the the auto-update utility?

cant install Veeam backup & restore on standalone machine

I am not able to install Veeam Backup & Restore on standalone W11 machine.Keep getting:Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.andFatal error during installation. I was successful installing on internet connected W10 machine, but have not been in standalone W11 machine. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

nas backup recovery file via powershell script

Data Flow in Veeam B&R

Hi all, I'm using Veeam B&R v11 and I have 1 Repository (HPE StoreOne) and 1 Tape (HPE MSL 3040). When data is transferred to StoreOne, the process is as follows: Source data -> Backup Proxy Server -> Backup Gateway -> HPE StoreOne.I am confused about how the data is transferred to Tape. From source or from StoreOne? Thanks/Tunglh

Backup Encryption - Backup Copy Job

Hello Veeam community 🖐🏻I have a question regarding Backup Job Encryption and Backup Copy Job Encryption.What is the general advices on this.I have different encryption passwords for each Backup Job.The question is here, do I need to enable encryption for Backup Copy Job or it will use the original encryption that we already have configured on regular Backup Job’s.

OneDrive backup timeout

Hello,  Wondering if anyone knows how to get around this, Iv moved the veeam software to another host and done a clean setup trying to do the first backup of OneDrive it just keeps timing out. The console gives the error “failed to process all objects”.    Is there a setting or timeout limit I need to be adjusting somewhere? It seems to run for different amounts of time before timing out which is throwing me off. Is there a better way to do this?    Thanks in advance.

Veeam file copy jobs.

Do you guys use these? If you do give an example of how they help you in your day to day activities. For myself, I have been a RoboCopy guy for years. I often schedule a task and let it run with no issues. It’s great for seeding directory's for file server migrations, or just making sure you have a mirrored folder somewhere else on the network. Recently I had an odd request to sync a folder from one location to another, but there were strict firewall rules for security an access rules. RoboCopy was not an option. As Veeam had access to both servers, I was able to create a copy job on a schedule and solve this issue.  As we have very strict user permissions in many areas, this feature is a game changer for us. Even if it’s to copy files to another location for safe keeping.

AMD EPYC ‘Rome’ Processors Can Crash after Nearly 3 Years Uptime

Hi everyone, I thought this was a good conversation point I wanted to share, as the more I thought about it, the more my thoughts on the subject changed. AMD have released an errata listing that details how their AMD EPYC Rome (7xx2) processors can, under specific conditions, crash. I’ve included the statement in its entirety below:I’m conflicted on this, my initial reaction was “wow they won’t fix this?!”, then I thought, well I guess it would involve a new stepping, and the chips were released in 2018, that’s not too unreasonable.The security conscious part of me thought, oh boy who isn’t patching their servers in nearly 3 years, but even that thought then pivoted to consider that actually with some of the live/hot patching options now available, OS-level patching is becoming less tied to a reboot. Backing up S3 bucket to on/prem or at least not AWS

Hi, I have a client that wants to back-up his S3 buckets. Everything I can find talks about backing up to S3 which is great but not what he wants. He has a DR policy that states that he has to have a copy of his cloud files on prem. I’ve gone through the AWS module for Veeam from top to bottom, but I can’t find a solution. I was hoping that EFS would work but it does not.

Better storage reporting in the console for hardened repositories

Is there a way to get better reporting for usage on hardened repositories? I recently had a Wasabi issue after upgrading to 12 and our console was showing 29.7tb’s of usage which is right under our 30tb bucket. Actual bucket size was 128tb which lead to additional billing.

Preplexing message

Hi, all relatively new to Veeam but with 25+ experience in B/A things. For small kick i wanted to application aware VBR postgresql backup of VM where it’s running, it’s Windows machine.When i choose all parameters and i want archive logs to have retention and click ok i get this :What? Our VBR and Postgresql is on Windows, obviously. Any pointers appreciated.*Perplexing

Release licence for users in Veeam backup for Microsoft Office 365

I’d backed up some data for a group of users during a mail migration. The job is complete so I’ve deleted it all to free up the licenses for another job. Unfortunately I believe that I’ve done things in the wrong order. The repository has been deleted and now I can’t get “Remove-VBOLicensedUser”. For every user it outputs:“Remove-VBOLicensedUser : The process cannot access the file '\\10.1.1.1\office365backups\BackupName\Repository.xml' because it is being used by another process” The repository listed is nothing to do with these users and it’s not in user by any process that I can see - certainly openfiles is blank. Any idea how to proceed?

Hi folks, I need to understand a little bit about NAS backup using NDMP protocol. I have read this article https://www.veeam.com/blog/nas-data-protection-best-practices.html written by Matt Crape. In particular I want discuss about third modelThree-way model: In this model, backup data flows from NAS to the backup server, which then sends that data to the backup device. This model requires three-way communication between NAS, the backup server and the backup device. Some advantages of this model are that it allows for better control over the backup process and greater scalability. Postgres Error during Server Migation

I’m migrating my Veeam install to new brand new VM. The original Veeam server is Windows 2019 running Veeam B & R & Veeam ONE. The original install was v11 that was upgraded to v12, currently using MSSQL.The new instance Windows 2022 running a fresh install of only Veeam B & R using Postgres.I’m going through the steps in the Veeam B&R Configuration Restore Wizard when I run into the this error:SSPI authentication failed for user “HOSTNAME\Administrator” I’m using Windows authentication for the Postgres credentials. Has anyone run into a solution for this error?

Direct from Object Restores

In the blog post below it states the sources that support the backup of Direct to Object but do all of these also support the restore of the data Direct from Object without having to go through a Gateway server or Proxy?  Specifically when S3-compatible storage is being utilised.Virtual machines backup (VMware,HyperV,AHV...)
