Dear Community, Anyone face this issue if yes kindly guide how to fix this. Failed to upgrade host components. Error: 'Exception of type 'Veeam.Backup.Common.CAppException' was thrown.'
Hi all,I have the above error and can’t seem to find a solution. With the research I’ve done so far, some suggested this is an account authentication issue. I’ve ensured that this is not the case. I’ve checked to see if the the port 11731 is being used by another process. It’s not. It’s free and listening. I tried recreating the job, no joy. I’ve rebooted the server to nil effect.Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Hi all, I'm facing issues when trying to upgrade VBR from 12.3.1 to 12.3.2.EM went fine, but when I try to upgrade VBR, I get an error:"Failed to user specified user account. Error code: 0x00000057".I am running the setup as a domain admin. I also tried to run the setup logged in as the Veeam service account (which is also a domain admin), and as a local admin on the VBR server. All resulted in the same error.Anybody seen this before? I also created a case with Veeam support: 07736493
Hi All, when i tried to restore guess file , i faced an error like this below, could you please help ?
Hi,Has anybody successfully integrated Trend Deep Security so that Veeam can scan backups?Veeam support had no answers, reach out to trend which weren't helpful. If you have, could you please share the AntivirusInfo.xml settings you have setup? Thank YouChris
Hi everyone, I'm trying to reinstall my Veeam BK server because we recently suffered a ransomware attack and had to remove it. Is it possible to recover the information I have stored in the data domain where the backups are hosted? Without having the configuration file? I only have the license.Thanks.
Hi everyone,I’m encountering an issue with an Off-Host backup job in Veeam. The job fails with the following error:"Selected server HV01 is unavailable."Here’s what makes this confusing: HV01 is the Veeam Backup Server itself I’m currently logged in to HV01, and it's definitely online The VM being backed up is up and running It’s just one VM in this Off-Host backup job I’ve already checked the Veeam services, DNS resolution, and proxy configuration – all seem fine Any idea why Veeam thinks the server is unavailable – even though it’s the Veeam server itself? Thanks in advance for any help or pointers!Cheers
Hi.I have Veeam One 12.3.0 installed and running. When I start setup.exe form 12.3.2 version I have only option Install instead Upgrade. Is any way to force upgrade mode? Or some registry changes maybe? Thanks and regardsPiotr
We are using a Quantum Scalar i3 tape library with a 25-slot license. Accordingly, we've created a partition for 25 tapes and currently have 25 tapes loaded, the cleaning tape ist tape 26 and not in the partition. The problem:We need to perform a cleaning operation via Veeam using the cleaning tape. However, the cleaning tape is not showing up under 'Unrecognized' or anywhere else in the tape libraries within Veeam. When trying to initiate automatic cleaning from Veeam, it says it cannot find the cleaning tape.Steps already taken: Rescanned the tape library in Veeam Performed a full inventory Ran a catalog operationAdditional Information:• Library Firmware Version: 330G.GS118• Veeam Version: 12.3.1.1139• The cleaning tape is correctly shown in the Quantum Scalar i3 web interface. It has the type set to 'Cleaning', a barcode 'CLN001L1', and is marked as 'Accessible'. Its location is also properly listed.• The cleaning tape is not in the partition of the 25 Tapes.Description of the Library
We are using Veeam Enterprise Backup & Replication 12 in a mixed VMware VM and physical Windows network. We have upgraded all of our Windows servers to Server 2025. Backups on non-domain controllers had no issue post update but our domain controllers are all failing with the same error once the OS was upgraded: Failed to index guest file system. VSSControl: Index failed There are no connectivity issues between the domain controllers and the Veeam servers and proxies. The domain controllers were not all upgraded on the same day, but each would fail as soon as the OS upgrade occurred. So one day the DC running on Server 2022 would be able to be backed up with no issues, the night its upgraded it would fail. No other changes other than OS upgraded. No changes to virtualization or network infrastructure.
VBR and VEM using PostgreSQL, however VeeamONE still using MSSQL, I am looking forward to see VeeamONE using PostgreSQL, it will be great to unify the DBs for Veeam infrastructure.
Hi,I have recently inherited a site using Veeam Backup & Replication V12One of the components of a Backup Copy Job is failing with the following errorCannot proceed with the job: existing backup meta file 'XXX-XXX-DC01_764B4.vbm' on repository 'XXX-XXX-BK02 - VMs' is not synchronized with the DB. To resolve this, run repository rescan When I run the “repository rescan” I get the warning belowFailed to import backup path /|drs-vms|backups|XXX-XXX-BK02 VM Copy|Cluster Windows VM Dailys|AIR-PIC-DC01_764B4.vbm Details: Root element is missing.387164The repository is offsite and it is a Ubuntu SystemAny advice would be appreciatedThank You
I am setting up VBO to back up 365 data to the cloud as we are starting to migrate all users to 365. I have read it’s best to separate repos instead of just having one repo for the whole organization.Anyone have an example of best setup? So far I am starting out creating separate repos for OneDrive, Teams, Sharepoint, Groups and separate jobs for each one of those. Is this a good approach? I was also going to add one more repo for Users. Would that cover everything for now as we are currently still using exchange on prem? Should I also make one repo and job for the entire Org with all data in it? Or only have one repo with everything in it? Just want to make sure I set it up properly so I don’t realize I should have set it up differently a year down the road. Thanks!

Since upgrading our backup server to Windows 2025, on Veeam the WD devices are showing as unavailable and we are unable to rejoin them to active directory. This has only happened since upgrading to windows server 2025
Not new to the software but new to setting up a backup system. I will be “promoted” to Backup Administrator and as part of the training I need to set up my own system. Currently, I have VEEAM B&R 12 installed on a desktop and running two tests - one successful, the other is a failure.Test One is creating a simple job - VEEAM to back up a directory on the same desktop which is my “server”. The job works fine, understand the setup and job tasks.Test TWO is creating a simple job to an endpoint (my laptop). I managed to set up the job and laptop has windows agent installed.VEEAM cannot:2025-05-28 1:42:45 PM Failed Failed to send backup job configuration to <laptop> Error: Failed to update backup job Managed by agent job ID: 04100ad7-e66a-4b4d-8221-74baf1c52987. Hi all,Relatively new to the community; been working with Veeam a while now, though! After finally sorting some bits out, I’ve built out a home lab to play with Veeam, but also use my own data as a way to gather experience about day-to-day use of Veeam (I am an architect, so naturally, I never touch the product in anger 🙄 - hoping to fixing that!)I’m loosely aware that the Veeam for Mac agent is relatively new, so while I understand there will be bugs, my current experience has been fairly frustrating (I don't want to treat this as a support-request post, so wont go into specifics). What is your experience of using the Mac agent so far?
I wanted to ask here in the community if anyone has developed a Veeam Tape report mainly for size reporting that they can share? I am looking in to VONE but the reports there are not sufficient enough for our reporting. We have a service that clients send to VCC then it tapes out for long term offline storage. So each month we need to automate reporting on size for each tenant of consumed data on tape.I am also asking in the Vanguard slack too about this so some of you may see this there as well. Also doing my Googling too. 😋
Hi Team,Got a VM running on a ESXi host. Need to add additional disk space to C: drive. However, couldn’t increase it any further using the VM properties under storage. The provisioned disk capacity is 230GB and the total disk utilization is closer to 230GB as well. The machine is thin provisioned. The connected SAN storage got free available space too. Just wondering the best option to add more disk capacity to C: drive please?Appreciate your feedback.kind regards,Andrew

Happy Tuesday everyone! It seems like we have a clear winner this month, congratulations @Dynamic ! 👏
oracle linux virtualization manager is now supported in Veeam B&R and we have just started using it last week. Are there any plans to support it in Veeam One?
Hello, what are the minimum permissions that linux user needs to have to be able to do file level restore using Veeam?Setup is as it follows:I have Rocky Linux 9.5 OS VM and I have Win Server host where Veeam is located. The goal is to be able to do file level restore from that Linux server. The thing is I need user for it.What I would like to do, I only want the user to be able to do restore from one specific directory, I don’t want him to be able to see anything else or do anything else, except the restore part, what is the best way to achieve this?
We would like to clarify a few points about offloading backups to Azure Storage.1. Does the Veeam application support Azure Entra ID for offloading backups to Azure Storage?2. Can Azure Entra ID be used as an alternative to Shared Key access for connecting to Azure Blob Storage?3. Are there any limitations or challenges associated with integrating Azure Entra ID? If so, is there a roadmap for addressing these in future Veeam releases?
Hey There!I shared few days ago on the VMCA Study Hall Community some news regarding VMCA.After many successful years, we are bidding farewell to the Veeam Backup & Replication: Architecture and Design (VMCA) certification, with the training officially retiring on July 31st. If you have already completed your training, you can still take the certification, however hurry up as the VMCA exam will be retired on November 30th 😱 do not wait until the last minute, no exceptions will be done!As one era ends, another begins. Stay tuned for the new (very) exciting certification opportunities coming soon!
