Volume Level Restore: Restore failed: The requested security package does not exist

I’m using VEEAM 12.0.0.1420.I’ve created a backup on a RDX drive with the option ‘This repository is backed by rotated drives’.Then i created a bootable recovery media → USB stickStarting machine from USB stick and open wizard ‘Volume Level Restore’Backup location is fine, full backupStarting progress will show the following lines:OK Loading backup filesOK Restore process started …BAD Restore failed: The requested security package does not existBAD Saving restore logs Error: Unable to save recovery logs to target repository. No logon servers

Hi All,I have restored two servers using veeam backup and replication. Both servers restored successfully but to a different host. However, when I login I get “No logon servers avaialble . . . “ error, I am also unable to login using the local administrator account.The Network is pointing to the server network on the new host and I don’t see any errors or anything glaringly obvious. I had Application-aware processing enabled on one of the restored server jobs but not the other. But I am unable to login to any of them.I did restore a server last week without any issues and was able to login to the Domain without any issues. Can someone offer any advice as I need to move servers off this host and the only way to do this is by Veeam backup. I have no option to migrate via vmotion or directly via the Hosts themselves.Thanks in anticipation.

Can a non-domain joined VBR server use a gMSA?

Can non-domain joined VBR v12 servers use a gMSA?All of our Veeam servers are off our domain, but can communicate with AD, and I'm exploring if I can use gMSA instead of a service account.I've read the KB on gMSA for Veeam, but it's written in a way that tends me to believe its for domain joined VBRs servers. A few articles online show that non-domain joined containers can run gMSA, but doesn't read as if non-domain joined servers can do that or not.https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/using_gmsa.html?ver=120

Solutions for Quarterly Backups to Cloud GFS?

Hi Folks, I have been out of the Cloud Connect loop for a bit. As I understand it you can no longer do Quarterly GFS backups on backup copy jobs to CC. Has anyone thought of some original ideas to get around this? If you have a customer that wants to send GFS to AWS Quarterly, I was thinking for them to simply add a direct AWS s3 repo to  V12 and if their bandwidth allows use the windows scheduler to run active fulls every quarter. Anyone else had this issue?

ONTAP 9.12.1P2 - Exceeding the 16 TiB LUN Limit and 100 TiB Volume Limit.

In Feb 2023 NetApp announced the release of ONTAP 9.12.1 to introduce some new hardware the C-Series models. One big item that customers were eager for was large volume and LUN support. This was experimental and was not enabled without support assistance.It is now enabled by default in ONTAP 9.12.1P2 and later releases. Please see images below to compare the old and new Volume and LUN sizes.This will open up new opportunities for existing customers running out of space on their ONTAP Veeam backup repos. Behaviour is different on each site with same config

Hi,I have 2 locations with a Veeam server and a vCenter cluster with 2 hosts.The configuration is on both servers identical.One one location, when running a job with application awareness, the inventorying guest system and the other preparing jobs are taking several seconds, but on the other location, it takes minutes.It does not fail, but the time of processing is much longer.The difference I see, on the ‘slow’ location, all communications running via vCenter. On the fast one, all is going direct from B&R server to the VM.Firewall rules are identical and I don’t see any blocks, so the slow one does not try to direct connect to the VM.Any ideas where to look for?The B&R server is in a seperated VLAN with explicit firewall rules between them, conform the manuals. Thank you!

Testing Veeam Tape Stuff, anyone tried Opensource mhVTL?

Agent is managed by another veeam server

Ok, I had a test server which I used to test out Windows Agent backups.I’ve now built a more robust server to handle veeam (community edition as we only have a few servers), when I try to backup the same server, I get:I’ve removed the backup jobs, and uninstalled the agent both using the old server and manually going into Add/Remove programs, yet the same problem exists. I’ve also added the registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication AgentDiscoveryIgnoreOwnership DWORD=1Still no joy.  When I go into the registry editor on the machine in question, I can see why Veeam is having a problem.  The values in BackupServerIPAddress, JobSettings, and VBRServerName are all pointing to the wrong server. I’m loathed to start deleting this key.  What do I do to ensure this server I wish to backup now has the correct agent installed?RegardsIan

how to move virtual veeam to physical server

Hi Guys, lot of my customer has Veeam as virtual machine in VMware and using the virutal disk as repostitory (.vdmk), in my opinion - its old concept. One of my customer has new Storage Array and Physical backup server. The storage is direct connected to backup server via 10 GbE iSCSI.  Is there some steps how to migrate virtual veeam (also with backup repository) to brand new physical HW ?  Thx.Tomas

"Failed to pre-process the job" // backup fails after data deletion from ReFS storage

Hello everyone,some backup files were manually deleted from D:\ storage (ReFS) andnow backup jobs don’t work.Failed to pre-process the job Error: A data integrity checksum error occurred. one VUL license to use on two different VBR servers

Hi, is it possible to use the same VUL license on two different standalone VBR servers ?the VBR in the main site doing the backup to disk and then backup copy and replicate only one VMto the VBR server in the DR site to his local repository. the license is for 5 VM bundle and in practice only one VM is backup and then copy and replicate to DR.Thanks

Newbie, Basic restore from .vbk file

Hi All,Apologies if I am asking in the wrong place, but using VBR V11 Community edition.I want to simulate a DR event. I have taken a Windows  Agent → Entire computer full backup to a USB Drive.Now i want to restore just some files from this USB Backup to a new server ( where the same edition VBR is installed.From the USB Drive on the new server , double clicking on the .VBK file launches Veeam, but my concern is the following window just shows “Restore”. I Don’t want to overwrite the entire server from this backup?  Does “Restore” actually start overwriting files, or does this proceed to show more options  ( and would be better named “Next”, rather than “Restore” ) ??Many thanks in advance.

any referrals for a good Veeam Health Assessment Consultants?

Good morning, I’m new to veeam and my company would like to perform a health assessment on our existing veeam infrastructure. Veeam Agent for Windows local copy and cloud

For a hardware server (no vmware) I use the Agent for Windows and backup to a local NAS. I added a cloud backup job to Wasabi which works but I noticed it disabled the schedule to the local NAS. I turned it back on and made sure the times do not overlap. Is that the only way to have a local and cloud copy with the Agent, two separate jobs? I like local for speed when restoring, cloud is only in case of disaster...

surebackup and sql server always on

Hello, I’m actually testing surebackup with a sql server always on cluster.Setting to test default SqlChecker script.Unfurtunatelly, it seems not to be working well.All the databases (exepts system db) are in RECOVERY_PENDING state in the mounted vm lab.Is surebakup working for always on clusters ?Am I missing something ? thanks for your help.Fred
